Hi everyone,
it's been a while since we've had a thread for Parkrunners to share how their run went. So if you ran today , which event were you at, how did you go and if you have the 5K app, did you get any new achievements?

I'm in Australia, so we are at the start of our summer and it was a sunny morning in the low 20s so great for a run. I was at Mosman (Sydney) with my son, it's a 3 lap, out and back course with a short steep hill at the turnaround , that seems longer and steeper each lap.
I came about half-way and the only 5K app achievement I got was for Date Bingo.

Hope everyone else had a good day too

A very unexpected fastest time overall this year

Mysterian · 24/08/2024 20:26

I chickened out due to the rain.

I am ashamed.

But dry.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 25/08/2024 10:45

A soggy marshalling duty yesterday but I haven’t done the marshalling role for a long time and enjoyed cheering on everyone out on the course. The rain stopped for a bit too not not as damp as anticipated.

Back at Curl Curl this morning where it was a Pacer week and a big turnout.
I did my usual sort of time , but got a Position Bingo and Date Bingo, and am very close to Fanatic 30 runs for the year - which I've never managed before.

Good luck to everyone running or volunteering today

Touristing today. Oak Hill, to get us an O. Getting closer to getting the alphabet. We're hoping to get a Z in The Hague in December.

CalmConfident · 31/08/2024 07:03

Tailwalker Volunteering for me today ☺️

Up at stupid o'clock to get to Bushy

xsquared · 31/08/2024 11:14

How was Bushy @SouthCountryGirl? I know it's their 1000th event, so I imagine it must have been rammed!

Rammed was an understatement! It took a good 10 minutes to be able to run. We had to queue at the end to even be let into the finishing funnel.

Only took an hour and 20 to get scanned. But they handled it very well

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 31/08/2024 14:11

Wow! Let us know how many finishers there were when you get your results. I'm guessing they're probably not processed yet!

I was a bit slower than I'd hoped today, I did the hilliest local one and had done interval training yesterday so I don't think my legs were pleased with me. Grin I find the last bit a killer, you go up and down quite steeply then the last km is a "gentle" incline. I was very pleased to see the funnel, I can tell you.

MirandaWest · 31/08/2024 14:23

@SouthCountryGirl that must have been an incredible experience!

I did my 50th different venue today - and managed to run the whole thing so that's two in a row where I've run it all :)

Wow that explains things. I'm on the other side of the world in SA and they posted that Bushy Park had over 6000 finishers this morning 🤩 I didn't realise it was the 1000th event.

We had a cold snap, we usually have around 1000, today 600. (And an important rugby day today might be why)

Wow! Well done for being so patient. I can't imagine queueing just to finish for that long!

It must have been an amazing experience though.

They're saying results should be out tomorrow

Wow @SouthCountryGirl Bushy looked like an awesome experience on the socials. Good luck to the results processors today.

I was on my RD duties at my local. Beautiful morning for it yesterday and a reasonable turnout considering Bushy’s 1000th and the Oasis sale.

EATmum · 01/09/2024 12:13

I was pleased to be at Bushy yesterday but have to say I'm pleased it's not like that every week! By the time I was in the funnel they were writing numbers on people's hands, as they were out of tokens and raffle tickets. Everyone was brilliant though - the run director kept his cool (how?) and the volunteers just got on with it. Huge respect to everyone.

They ran out of pens by the time I finished! They were just scanning barcodes

Mysterian · 02/09/2024 16:54

Second Parkrun on the weekend. I was well prepared. They called a minute to go and I redid my laces to be extra certain they were good...snap! I managed to thread it through the top holes and left the middles ones with a big gap of no laces. It held. 1 minute 45 seconds off my time.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 02/09/2024 21:53

Headed north to visit my parents and stopped off at Rushcliffe. Absolutely lovely course and my fastest parkrun since March.

miked99 · 08/09/2024 02:57

There were 500 runners at my local event yesterday, which seemed like a lot so I can't imagine what it was like at Bushy Park last week.

I seem to get consistent times each week without ever getting exactly the same time - so that's a challenge I 'm not expecting to crack soon.

Hope everyone had a good run/volunteer

Did my 150th yesterday and first run for a while. Treated myself to my 50 milestone notch (I already have my 100). Not very fast - planning to up the training now the kids are back at school.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 15/09/2024 21:24

I got another stopwatch bingo yesterday 😃. Just four to go now. A beautiful morning for it at my home parkrun.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 21/09/2024 13:10

I had a lovely morning mentoring a new volunteer and then running and coffee after at my home parkrun.

MirandaWest · 21/09/2024 14:42

Had a good run at my home parkrun today - managed a sub 30 min parkrun for the first time in over 3 months :)
