RI30 L3D2 done. Oof. Really not feeling it today (though DD is whinging less with the promise of not having to do Jillian during half term).

I’m toying with ordering Bodyshred for a challenge when we’ve done RI30 - should I? It was unavailable a few years ago when I finished Body Revolution and thought it might be an obvious progression, but it seems to have come back into production.

Days exercised 17.

I am so impressed that your DD is still doing it with you Professor. I did Body Shred on the bilibili.com website for free. It has most of Jillian’s workouts on. Might be worth having a look at it on there before you decide if you want to buy it. I personally preferred Body Revolution as the exercises weren’t complicated like some of the ones in Body Shred are, especially towards the end. BR is also on the website.

Day 1 of Epic done. All legs and I’m not sure I will be able to walk tomorrow. Actually used my heaviest 5kg weights so I was chuffed. A big plus was that there was absolutely no jumping around but I still managed to burn the same amount of calories as I do with Jillian.

Day 54 of BR here - swapped out today's cardio for a 5km run in the snow ❄️ which was equally awful - I'm not really a cold weather person!!Smile

I'm m also v impressed with Professor's DD, well done! Halo

Epic sounds great/awful in equal measures. roonetta keep us posted with progress. Not sure what I'm doing when BR ends - too many optionsConfusedConfused

Well past half way now Algonquin - well done! Sounds like a run in the snow was the lesser of two evils Grin

I did workout 2 of Epic today which was all upper body. I loved it, apart from skull crusher push ups which I couldn't even do on my knees. I was surprised at how many exercises I could manage with 5kg, but don't think I could lift heavier than that for now. It amazes me how she lifts 8kg! The muscles in my arms are tingling now and my butt is killing me today from yesterday's workout. I also feel like I can manage the moves with better form as there are no cardio intervals getting me out of puff in between. Love the 15 second breaks after each exercise too Grin

Ooh Epic does sound good roonetta - how long are the workouts and how many per week? I have to say I rarely use my 5kgs on the Jillian workouts - usually a 2 or 3 Blush so you have my admiration if you're even thinking of using 8kgs!!

Day 55 of BR today here. Going strong 💪

RI30 L3D3 done. I’m letting DD off over half term but may do a week of KillerAbs by myself.

The workouts are 40-50 minutes long Algonquin but she does a whole body workout on one of the days which is over an hour. I much prefer shorter workouts so not sure how well I am going to do. I have to say the workouts seem to fly by. Oh and i'm definitely not thinking of using 8kg Grin I can barely manage with my 5's.

Epic day 3 done. Abs and core. I found this one difficult. My core is not the strongest and it showed. Not sure how i'm going to catch up to her schedule. I should have really started on a Monday. I might try and catch up a bit this weekend and miss out the rest days, although I might regret that as I am aching all over.

Ooh 40-50 minutes doesn't sound too bad roonetta but finding the time for one that is over an hour would be difficult. Especially on work days when I have to get up at 5.30 to fit in a 30 minute workout.

I think that's why I like Jillian's approach of 30 minutes, which feels manageable even for 6/7 days per week.

Anyway, I have just had 2 non-Jillian days in a row BlushI did a 30 minute WWL on Friday before work as I just felt like doing something different. I held hand weights all the way through and actually worked up quite a sweat. And - I'm not sure if I'm imagining things but I thought that Mimi from BR was one of Leslie's walkers!!! Not sure if it was because I hadn't put my contact lenses in yet Grin

And this morning I went for a 5km run with my friend, which I instantly regretted as it was -3 and i couldn't feel my fingers after about 5 minutes in Shock. Was bloody freezing even with two layers and hats and gloves. I stuck it out anyway but didn't do Jillian when I got back in as planned, as I needed a hot shower!!

Hope your weekends are all going well. I have a much deserved week off next week (booked for half term before I realised we would be in lockdown and unable to do anything!!) oh well, it will be nice not to be at work.

I like the shorter workouts too Algonquin. Jillian really does fit a great workout into a short time. Nothing wrong with changing it up occasionally. I found I burned more calories doing WWL than I did with Jillian, especially if you use hand weights. You are not seeing things, it is Mimi in the WWL workout. She is in several and even takes a class or two (I prefer Leslie though). She uses her full name of Camilla in this one. I liked having her in the workouts, it felt like seeing an old friend.

I also can’t wait for half term week, even though I am still working. It will be a blessing not having my DS constantly moaning at the other end of the table Grin

Epic day 4 done. Over an hour full body dumbbell workout 🏋️ which I enjoyed and managed to use my 5kgs throughout save for one exercise.

That's how I felt about seeing Mimi on the WWL roonetta like bumping into an old friend GrinI'll have to check out the workout that she leads.

Days 58,59 and 60 of BR done between yesterday and this morning (I'm making up for the 2 rest days!).

Moved on to the week 9 & 10 workouts now and I can really feel the difference! It's tough but okay. I find those rock and roll squats are practically impossible though without using my hands - not sure I will ever be able to master that one, and they make it look so easyConfused

Well done Algonquin on squeezing all those workouts in! A tip for the rock and roll squats - hold your dumbbells while you are doing them. I tried this and it worked and I could get up without putting my hands down, the weight of the dumbbells pulls you up Grin Hope this helps.

Week off RI30 this week. I did Adriene’s yoga yesterday, and two JM 10-minute transformation workouts today (core and weights, both pretty tough). I went off the idea of Killer Abs as the workouts are a bit long to squeeze in at the start of the day. My plan is to do more Adriene this evening.

Days exercised 20.

Good work with Epic roonetta - day 61 of BR here - can certainly feel it in my glutes today aswell, we'll have buns of steel by the end Grin

Thanks for the tip about the weights with the rock and roll squats professor and roonetta - who knew that weights would make it easier? Will try that trick on my next session tomorrow.

What is Adrienne's yoga like? I'm not a big yoga fan mostly on account of my not being very bendy, but it does intrigue me. Do you find it effective?

Report
roonetta · 18/02/2021 14:10

Yes we will have buns of steel Algonquin Grin Hope the rock and roll squats were more successful.

Epic day 8 dumbbell upper body. Imagine my delight when she started the workout sat in a chair. I liked this one and felt I could probably use heavier weights for some of the exercises. I have actually seen a lovely adjustable Northdeer dumbbell set on Amazon but my god they are expensive. Something to save up for I think.

Oh and I could actually walk fine today, despite my worries after yesterday's workout.

Never heard of northdeer but just looked those dumbbells up and they are also on my wish list now! Awesome. Although my current set up to 5kgs will do me for now Grin

Day 62 of BR done today. It was weeks 9-10 cardio and really hard work!!!

Hi all, I fell off the exercise wagon this week as my hip pain has come back, so all I’ve done is a bit of gentle yoga - hoping to be back on JM on Monday after a weekend of rest.

I’m not bendy either, @AlgonquinBay, and I’ve never been able to get on with yoga classes because I always feel so incompetent. But I like Adriene, she always has modifications for the inflexible. I’ve been doing the ones for hips and lower back this week, but until then I was gradually working through her latest 30-day sequence.

Sorry to hear about your hip Professor Flowers - hopefully the yoga and rest will be exactly what you need.

I hear you about the cardio Algonquin - I always dreaded cardio days, even though I felt fantastic afterwards.

Epic day 9 full body workout done. I wasn't as happy to see the chair today as she was doing push ups from it (feet on the chair and hands on the floor). I felt like my feet were going to fall off the chair and I was going to face plant the floor Confused.

Rest day tomorrow.

Sorry to hear about your hip professor - I sometimes get that in my left hip and nothing works except resting it. Frustrating when you want to exercise!! I might let myself try Adrienne when I have some more free time, I like the idea of the chilled vibe of yoga I really do. At the moment though I'm sticking with Jillian's non-chilled threats GrinGrin

Wow those chair push ups sound harsh roonetta - not sure I would manage that Confused but you're nearly 1/3 of the way through now, which is amazing!

Day 63 of BR here today - and you were right, I can magically do those rock and roll squats with weights in my hands Wink!!
