NMTZ done today. I really enjoyed it - again it contains pretty simple moves. It did feel a little too long though after being used to 30 minute workouts.

I’m wondering if I should do BR 11/ 12 every once in a while as L&S and NMTZ are nowhere near that level and I don’t want to lose the ability to do that kind of workout. Or whether you don’t need that kind of craziness to achieve results.

roonetta · 13/07/2021 16:46

I am sure you don’t need the craziness to see results Beetroot, but you might lose some of the cardio fitness which you have worked so hard at. I am sure if I did a JM workout now, I would be sick Envy.

Didn’t have it in me to do a 50 minute leg workout today, so I did the 20 minute chest and shoulder workout she posted today. Small but mighty!

I run a few times a week (need to go tonight!) so my cardio fitness should stay ok but JM workouts are something else!

roonetta · 14/07/2021 16:48

Epic 2 day 48 leg day done, albeit with a half hour interruption half way through.

A half hour interrruption sounds a bit annoying!

I did go for a run last night and I did lift and shred again today after a walk with friends. I found my heaviest weights but I need to buy heavier still I think.

gratedbeetroot · 15/07/2021 13:03

I did Killer Buns and Thighs Level 1 today. Really enjoyed it. I think I’m going to do lift and shred twice a week and then choose on the day for my other JM workouts as there are so many and I won’t get bored that way.

roonetta · 15/07/2021 20:42

Never done killer buns. Might start mixing some JM workouts in with Caroline Girvan once Epic is finished.

Epic 2 day 49 elevated callisthenics done ☑️

Morning!

Got back from holidays on Thursday, had a really lovely time. Ate loads and drank loads too so Jillian to the rescue to help remove those extra pounds.

I’m straight back into BR finishing up week 2. Today I’m supposed to be doing Cardio 1 but it’s my time of the month so I’m going to swap it out for something less energetic, followed by a yoga session.

Hope you’re all doing well? Isn’t this weather amazing? Exercising in the garden every morning is such a treat!

Wineloffa · 18/07/2021 09:23

Pressed send too soon!! Also meant to say... I ordered 6kg dumbbells yesterday. Currently using 2kg and 4kg for all my workouts but lately finding 4s are a bit light for some exercises.

What’s the heaviest you guys use?

roonetta · 18/07/2021 14:13

Glad you enjoyed your holiday Wineloffa. 6kg for Jillian workouts! That is amazing. I could only ever manage 3kg with any of Jillian’s, except lift and shred. I am currently using 7kg for the Epic workouts, but often have to drop down to 5kg. Well done! Star

I have to say I am not enjoying the weather. I am struggling to motivate myself to workout as it’s so hot. Instead of the hour long workout I was supposed to do today, I did a 20 full body workout instead 😁. Hopefully it cools down a bit next week so I can finish Epic 2. Back in the office again tomorrow so not sure what I will manage to do. As much as I want COVID to disappear, I kind of liked the spare time it gave me to work on myself. Will have to try and figure out how to keep getting the workouts in, especially with school holidays looming.

Glad you had a good holiday Wineloffa.

The weather is lovely but it’s too hot for me!

I did a run on Friday evening thinking that I’d give running a miss over the weekend due to the heat and yesterday I just did lots of weeding while the children were in the paddling pool. Today we were out all day so I just did a bit of walking. I could do a workout now...

4kg is the heaviest I use but I use no heavier than 3 with the fast paced workouts. I need heavier for Lift and Shred, I’m not sure what to get.

My children will have a bit of quiet time in their rooms after lunch (I’d go insane without any break!) so I will have to exercise then even though I’d rather be relaxing/ doing my hobbies.

roonetta · 20/07/2021 13:40

Haha i misread your post Beetroot and thought you said you "did lots of weeing while the children were in the pool"! Didn't think much of it at first because I have been drinking lots in the heat, so thought maybe you had too Grin

I finally did Epic 2 day 50! A bit of everything in this one - full body dumbbell, calisthenics and HIIT for an hour Angry - I bought the fan down from the bedroom, but I was still a bath of sweat 5 minutes in. Anyway, i'm glad it's done and I can maybe choose some shorter workouts for the foreseeable.

That sounds hardcore in this heat, roonetta, well done!

I did Lift and Shred yesterday and I’ve just done NMTZ. It’s too long (around 50 mins) when the children are at home, I need to research shorter JM workouts tonight - the problem is many of the old ones are longer than the DVD cases advertise!

gratedbeetroot · 21/07/2021 08:35

Early morning run done here today, will do callenetics later.

roonetta · 21/07/2021 13:56

JM seems to have a lot of shorter workouts, although you are right that when it says 20 minutes on the cover, it is usually more like 28 Hmm.

Decided to do an upper body workout today so re-did Epic day 8. Enjoyed it and used my heavier weights.

Wineloffa · 22/07/2021 12:58

Tried out my 6kg weights this morning by doing Lift and Shred L1. Oh my God they’re heavy!!

Still doing BR but I’m hating the cardio days and as it’s so hot right now (even at 7am!), I swapped it today as obviously there’s a lot less jumping around and sweating in L&S!

Anyway, really enjoyed it and my arms now have that nice post exercise ache so hopefully that means it’s working!

It’s actually a miracle that I managed to get up and exercise at all this morning after the worst night’s sleep last night. Hope you’re all coping ok with the heat x

roonetta · 22/07/2021 13:17

Well done Wineloffa! Amazing what an extra couple of kgs feels like. I don't blame you for dropping the cardio, it is far too hot for that. I didn't sleep that well either - can't wait for it to cool down.

I did NMTZ today. Phew, still only able to use 3kg for most of it, although used 5's for the renegade rows and bicep curls. I forget how Jillian kicks my ass Grin although definitely felt the abs sections were easier than the last time I did it.

OP posts:
gratedbeetroot · 22/07/2021 14:58

I might try 5kg for L&S then, you’re not selling the 6! Grin

I have to go out to run before 7am at the moment - that’s late in this house thanks to the DC Hmm Grin ! I need to be back by around then anyway before DH leaves for to work. I’m pretty much at the centre of the extreme weather warning area!

I have a shiny new neck fan after reading a thread about them on here! It’s great! Haven’t exercised with it, although one of the pictures on one of them shows someone running with one.

gratedbeetroot · 23/07/2021 15:34

Did Callanetics and an hour of gardening yesterday, did L&S today.

Might go for a run this evening before the storms that are forecast.

roonetta · 25/07/2021 12:57

Hope you managed to get your runs in Beetroot.

Epic Heat day 1 done. Found it hard and had to stop quite often Blush

gratedbeetroot · 25/07/2021 16:20

I did, I went yesterday in the early evening as it was lovely and cool and thankfully the forecast storm didn’t appear (I was ready to leg it back!)!

Also did an unintentional run earlier in the day when I went out and left something at home - managed to run back home and back with ease which wouldn’t have happened before I started running!

Rest day today, just went out for a gentle walk and did some dancing with the DC!

Weighed and am now 1lb away from a stone loss - upping the calories has been the key!

Queuing4Fergs · 26/07/2021 19:22

Hi all, I've been slacking on this thread and on exercise since my return from holiday on the 17th. A combination of holiday-comedown and the intense heat has made me rather unmotivated Grin

But I've decided to alternate Killer Buns and Thighs with Killer Arms and Back, 6 days per week until our next holiday (UK again) in the final week of August. So far have done KBT twice and KBA once, both Level 1. Will have to move to Level 2 on KBA soon though as I didn't find it very challenging. My arse and thighs definitely felt it after my first KBT though - owwwww!

Well done on everyone who has persevered through this energy-sappung heat. Not easy

roonetta · 26/07/2021 19:34

Well done on the weight loss beetroot! That’s awesome 🤩

Welcome back Queuing Smile. I don’t think I have ever done either KBA or KBT. Might have a look at them.

Epic Heat day 2 done ✅

Thank you roonetta!

Hope you had a great holiday Queuing. It is so easy to lose motivation after a break.

I did L&S again today. Need to mix it up a bit more but it’s short and easier to fit in with the children at home and I still haven’t checked my DVDs to see which are actually around 30 mins (rather than just advertised as such on the front!).

I enjoyed KBT when I did it a week or two ago.

gratedbeetroot · 27/07/2021 17:51

Did Killer Abs today. Didn’t really enjoy it although it had a few new moves (or moves that I can’t remember from other workouts). Dancing crab was different to the dancing crab in BR. In BR you stay in one position and make your opposite hand and foot meet, in KA you do the same but have to lie on your back between moves - which I wasn’t really feeling! It short but I think I’ll stick to 6W6P for abs. Though I haven’t done that for a while so can’t remember how similar it is!
