Oh lord, I’m not sure I’m ready for WO9 and 10! Shock

Phase 2 complete. The last cardio 2 was a sweaty one today!

roonetta · 13/06/2021 14:53

Epic 2 day 30 full body isometric workout done.

Glad it was a slow one. Dropped to my 5kgs as this heat is too much Angry.

I think I’ve gone crazy.

Did WO9 this morning - struggled with the plank and weight move and another I’ve blanked out. But got through it.

Then decided to download a Callenetics DVD as I’ve been reading good things about it and remember my mum doing it in the 80s! It’s the exact same video she did, just broken up into three parts - it took me right back to my childhood! Anyway it works muscles that JM doesn’t - I did an hour of it today (all three parts) but I’m just going to do one section each day from tomorrow. I have high hopes that it’s going to give the results that I’m looking for with the smaller controlled movements on my problem areas.

My DH is working from home and was Grin at how 80s it is Blush

roonetta · 14/06/2021 12:36

Way to go Beetroot! Maybe the sun has made you crazy Grin. God knows how you did all that in this heat! StarStar

Epic 2 day 31 - HIIT, urghhh. I really phoned this in today. I was too hot and it was too hard so I slowed the pace right down. However, for someone who used to struggle with burpees, I managed to do over 50 in this workout (not all at once, but every fourth exercise was burpees, so 5 sets of 10) Grin

Brilliant beetroot well done! For me on WO9 (I also did it today) the tricky ones are the dive bombers, the relentless boat pose/hollow man and keeping my upper body/chest up and out during the chair squat. Tomorrow is WO10 tomorrow which I'm not looking forward to. Not least because my achilles is still niggly and there is SO MUCH plyometric training in it. WO9 is so much easier.

I worked out at 8.30 straight after the school run today, as I knew it would be much hotter. Had the garden doors open and a column fan pointing right at me and I still looked like I'd done BFBM instead of a 30 min strength dvd! Angry (not angry but a selfie taken afterwards!!)

50 burpees roonetta?? Respect. I reckon I'd need 4 days gap to achieve that, not 4 circuits Grin

gratedbeetroot · 14/06/2021 19:32

Thanks both, I’ve regretted it all day - I was exactly the same, Queuing! Grin Oh yes, I’m not a fan of the dive bombers either. I’m really looking forward to WO10 tomorrow Shock

Well done on the burpees, roonetta. I feel hotter just reading that!

roonetta · 15/06/2021 14:41

Epic 2 day 32 - death by lunges

Lovely workout with Bulgarian lunges, elevated lunges, dead stop lunges etc.etc combined with 10 minutes of calf raises and pulses. My calves were on fire. Not one of my favourites but I got through it. No doubt I will struggle to walk tomorrow.

WO10 done. Wasn’t keen on the reverse plank with leg lifts and rock stars. I’m ok with jumping lunges - they made me think fondly of one of the old DVDs haha.

I really felt some of my leg muscles after the callenetics yesterday; I just did 20 minutes of it today. And left a gap between that and BR this time Grin It’s so slow and looks tame but some of it is harder for me than JM!

Queuing4Fergs · 15/06/2021 21:56

I don't know how you're doing it, grated. Such a great effort.

I has a better time with WO10 today but still find it far too jumpy for my liking. Weirdly the jumping lunges was one of the easier bits for me too. But I find WO9 much easier (and therefore enjoyable!) than WO10. Cardio 3 tomorrow and again I'll do it earlier as it's going to be scorchio. Hope my face returns to its normal colour before all my zoom meetings start at 10...

Death by lunge sounds like a very apt description roonetta. Yikes. Despitethem being on nearly all of her programmes, I am still so confused and uncoordinated when it comes to lunge chops. I find I'm lunging on the wrong leg (or chopping on the wrong arm) and I'm all over the shop. My calves were burning just reading about your day.

gratedbeetroot · 15/06/2021 23:19

I’m not a fan of all the jumping either.

I was ok with coordination on the lunge chops as they’ve been on a few DVDs, but I got very confused with the windmill move and never did work out if I was doing the right arm with the right leg (probably not!)!

roonetta · 17/06/2021 17:15

Rest day yesterday. Epic 2 day 33 chest and core done ✅

Days exercised 115

OP posts:
Queuing4Fergs · 17/06/2021 19:51

That's what makes my uncoordination all the more embarrassing! I have done that move in so many programmes so I've no idea why I'm struggling with it this time around Blush

Week 10 Workout 9 today. Dive bombers are not my friend!

Starting to think about what I'm going to do when I'm back from hols on 18 July. I flip flop on whether to go straight into Body Shred, another 12 weeker, or maybe explore some of the dvds I own but have never done - Shred and Shed, Killer B&T and another one I can't think of the name of. I don't want to lose my fitness by going into an easier programme (ha, does such a thing exist if orchestrated by JM?!) but not sure I have the mental energy to go right into another long programme...

Any thoughts? Before you Epic maniacs suggest it, I'm a world away from attempting that at this stage Grin

gratedbeetroot · 17/06/2021 23:04

I found this which is useful if you want to stick to JM.

I think I’m going to choose three to do twice a week each.

gratedbeetroot · 17/06/2021 23:05

For a month maybe.

roonetta · 18/06/2021 10:54

You’re right Queuing, I don’t think any of Jillian’s workouts are easy Grin.

That’s a great schedule beetroot. Since starting Epic, I find I prefer doing a different workout every day, rather than repeating the same one over a few days. When I revisit BR or BS I think I will just do each workout once.

Epic is not too scary. You can make it as hard or easy as you like, depending on the weights you use. If you can complete BR, you can definitely do the Epic programmes Smile

Had my second jab yesterday so taking it easy today with a Walk with Leslie.

Not sure I will count it as a day exercised.

OP posts:
roonetta · 19/06/2021 12:32

Epic 2 day 34. 50 minutes of squat and press variations. Happy I managed to do it with my 7kgs. Progressing slowly but surely.

Epic 2 day 35 Calisthenics full body done. Took another rest day yesterday as I am finding the workouts are getting tougher, especially with heavier weights. I think I will take rest days as and when needed, rather than ploughing on. I feel I perform much better when I have rested my body properly.

OP posts:
roonetta · 22/06/2021 12:32

Epic 2 day 36 - HIIT for 30 minutes and then steady pace cardio for 15 minutes. This really felt like a JM workout with all the old favourites; jumping jacks, plank jacks, butt kicks, skipping. Made me nostalgic Grin

Days exercised 118

OP posts:
Queuing4Fergs · 22/06/2021 19:05

Old favourites? Nostalgia? Sounds like you've got Stockholm Syndrome roonetta Grin

It was my final WO10 today (weighted rockstars, you will not be missed) so Cardio 3 tomorrow then onto the final 2 weeks and final 2 workouts. Have looked ahead to WO11 and I can tell it's going to be easy. Because I doubt I'll be able to do 75% of it! I am not bendy enough for dive bombers or strong enough for the chaturanga pose and jumping press ups?! Even the team were swearing and secretly phoning it in when they thought the camera wasn't on them. Yikes.

Still, focusing on the positive, I've got this far through the programme and gave definitely come a long way. Proud of myself (and that doesn't come easy to me as I always focus on what I fail at, not what I succeed at).

How's everyone else getting on?

gratedbeetroot · 22/06/2021 19:36

Well done, you’re both doing so well.

I can’t believe I’m on week 10 - time has flown. Dreading the final two weeks but looking forward to being able to try out lift and shred soon.

I struggled a little today. I’ve felt like I might be coming down with something for the past couple of days but I decided to go for a morning (6.30am!) run this morning and regretted it - just wasn’t my usual self. I’m feeling better now so fingers crossed I’ve fought it off. I’m due to have my second jab in a couple of days so I really hope so!

gratedbeetroot · 23/06/2021 13:26

WO10 done - I swapped the days around and counted the run as my cardio yesterday due to not feeling well enough to do anything else. Still feeling fine which is a relief.

Queuing4Fergs · 23/06/2021 19:19

Well done Beetroot. I'm starting WO11 tomorrow which looks tough. My leg, having felt a bit better the last few days, really hurts now after Cardio 3 earlier. I really want to finish the programme as I'm so close, but I'm just so conscious of it during exercise (relying heavily on my other leg when I land from a jump and just doing everything so cautiously) that I'm worried I'm not giving it maximum effort and therefore it doesn't count. My own worst enemy!

gratedbeetroot · 23/06/2021 20:55

Good luck with WO11! How frustrating it flaring up again, Queuing. I think I’d be careful with it until it’s better, but then I know people who have had issues and had to take a year out or stop running completely so I prefer to be cautious if something doesn’t feel right.

roonetta · 24/06/2021 19:59

Glad you didn’t feel off your game for long beetroot. You are smashing it Star

I agree with Beetroot Queuing. Definitely take it easy for a few days, although I know how frustrating it is when you are so close to the end. I found workouts 7 and 11 the hardest, but it feels great to complete the program. You are doing so well Star

Did another Walk with Leslie yesterday so won’t count that. Epic 2 day 37 glutes and hamstrings. Got interrupted so many times during this workout it took ages with lots of stopping and starting and I didn’t feel like I’d worked out. Might do it again properly at the weekend.

gratedbeetroot · 24/06/2021 22:52

Thank you roonetta! The interruptions sound very frustrating. Kitten has learnt not to bother me now or he gets shut out of the room so interruptions are rare (though I always have clothes to hand in case the postman knocks!).

Did WO9 and a run today. I got to the end of WO9 and thought there was another circuit left so it was a nice surprise when it ended! Second jab tomorrow morning so I’ll do WO10 very early and then take a couple of days off I think.

I’ve noticed a few subtle changes in my body today which is encouraging.
