@toddlermom A good place for you to start would be with Jillian’s 30 Day Shred which is actually available on Vimeo.

Happy Monday everyone! Today I did Ri30 L2 followed by and Yoga with Adrienne stretch video. Heading out on my 2nd walk of the day now as we’re doing a team step challenge in work and I need to get my steps up!!

gratedbeetroot · 10/05/2021 18:41

Good luck if you decide to give Jillian workouts a go, toddlermum! They get easier if you keep going, I promise!

I did a 25 min run earlier today (I’m on week 7 of C25K) and will have to wait till the kids are in bed before I do BR workout 3.

roonetta · 11/05/2021 11:48

Epic 2 day 11 HIIT. Yuk! Never gets any easier. I modified a lot. Props to the small spider who took her life in her hands crawling across my mat the whole time I was jumping around like a maniac. It's a miracle she survived Grin

Day 36 of Epic - back and biceps 💪

AlgonquinBay · 12/05/2021 19:30

Roonetta you are not alone in your modifications!! Caroline is a machine, I have no idea how she keeps going on some of those routines Confused

Epic day 37 and 3 mile run in the sunshine ☀️! Did a great split time for my last mile too so a good fitness day!!

Queuing4Fergs · 12/05/2021 19:33

Love the kitty pics. Super cute.

Well done on all the blood, sweat and tears that has clearly been shed over the last few days. Great to see everyone so inspired and committed to their goals. roonetta your 500 cal workout sounds frightening! Well done on getting through it and maintaining for so long at such an intense level.

beetroot Week 7 is right at the business end of that programme. I think it's when I started to feel like I could actually do it. The 3rd run of Week 5 was scary but then I hated going back to intervals in Week 6. I truly felt like I had cracked it in Week 7, both in terms of fitness and confidence. Well done! Are you working towards longer or faster run times once you're done with the programme?

Algonquin how many days left of Epic? Have you lined up your next challenge?

I finished off Phase 1 (weeks 3 and 4) yesterday and decided to do BFBM for the cardio rather than Cardio 1. Mainly because I made the mistake of watching Cardio 2 (shiiiiiiiit) and decided I needed to step the cardio up a bit, but also I wanted to do it all the way through which I failed to do last week. Pleased to report I managed it though had a 30 second breather between the final 2 circuits as thought I was going into cardiac arrhythmia! BFBM firmly back in its case in the cupboard now.

So today I did Phase 2 Week 5 Workout 5. What fresh he'll was that?! Such a step up from the previous levels which I was starting to enjoy. So much in plank/crab/crescent/lunge. My triceps and shoulders were shaking and I felt almost tearful by the end of the 3rd circuit. Luckily the last circuit was easier so I finished feeling OK, but it was a tough first 25 minutes. I've looked ahead at tomorrow's workout and it looks maybe easier than today's torture-fest but I reserve the right to come back tomorrow and whinge about it (it has bloody running man Angry)

Sorry another huge post from me. Have a good evening all

Poppiesway1 · 12/05/2021 21:53

Evening. I was trawling mn looking for threads on 30DS for motivation as I started D1L1 this morning. I used to have al the Jillian dvds and was addicted to doing them, had fabulous results but not quite sure what happened but I slowly stopped and have put on so much weight and my fitness level has gone. I actually brought the shred again on Prime as no idea where the dvds have gone (I brought it after xmas and it’s taken till today for me to sum up the courage to start it again). Anyway.. hoping I can follow this thread to keep me accountable again. I want the abs back again! (However I’m finding it difficult just waking up the stairs this evening Grin)

gratedbeetroot · 12/05/2021 23:34

Thanks Queuing. I’m feeling the same as you did at 7 weeks. As long as I don’t get any injuries I feel like I can do it. It’s amazing how the programme works! I’m not sure what I’m working towards afterwards yet; it’s called couch to 5K but they missed off the ‘in 30 minutes’ part! I’m not sure we’re up to doing it that quickly by week 9! What did you do afterwards? I didn’t even plan to start the programme: a friend asked if I fancied it and we did our first run that day so I still can’t believe I’m doing it!

Well done on completing BFBM! I’m doing runs instead of ‘cardio 1’ as I wasn’t keen on it and I was surprised when I realised it was the same workout for four weeks. I haven’t looked at cardio 2 - sounds like I might carry on replacing it with running haha!

Also a bit (understatement!) worried about workout 5 next week now! And 6 (running man!). At least it won’t be a shock.

I don’t want to damage anything this close to the end of C25K (or ever even!). This week (workouts 3/4) is fine but the move where arms with weights are in the air and you go down onto your knees and back up again feels like it puts a lot of pressure on my knees.

Hi Poppies :) I’ve also only recently got back into Jillian workouts after doing all the DVDs regularly years ago. I didn’t realise you could get them on Prime! I’m doing BR on bilibili, but when I’ve played my DVDs having to wait for all the safety stuff to play at the start every time is frustrating. Good luck!

roonetta · 13/05/2021 12:41

Not sure I know what a split time is Algonquin but well done Grin

Well done beetroot and queuing on your running. I am in awe that you are both keeping up with running, as well as Jillian! Star. An extra star for you queuing for getting through BFBM without stopping! Star

Welcome @Poppiesway1. 30DS is one of the best. Please join us and keep us updated on how you are going Smile

Rest day for me yesterday as it was my 50th birthday. Lots of cake eaten with zero f*s given Grin. Think I am probably in the best shape of my life at the moment, thanks to Jillian, Caroline and you lovely ladies who keep me motivated every day! Age is just a number.

Epic 2 day 12, glutes and hamstring done.

Happy 50th birthday for yesterday roonetta Cake Flowers That’s awesome!

Just waiting for my DH to have a break in video calls before I do my workout today - I’m not ready to be broadcast like Jillian’s crew just yet! Grin

Queuing4Fergs · 13/05/2021 19:38

Happy birthday roonetta. How great to be in your best shape ever. I hope to be the same - youth is wasted on the young Grin Have an extra slice of cake for me Cake

I can't take credit for still running though. I did the programme over the Spring in 2019 and kept it up, getting to 40 minute runs but no longer, through the summer. But as the evening after 8pm was the only time I could run (DH and I have long commutes so had to wait for him to get home) I gave it up after the clocks went back and it was too dark. Jillian fits in a lot better as I can do it whenever it suits me.

Speaking of, I did WO6 of BR today and I found it SO much easier than WO5 (with a few notable exceptions!). Only did 2.5kg weights max though which is probably why I found it OK. Some moves definitely call for weights at least twice that. Will bear that in mind on Monday when I repeat this workout. Re-watched Cardio 2 as that's tomorrow's workout and I'm now really glad I did BFBM the last 2 cardio workouts as it now looks so much more doable.

Hi Poppies "stick with us and fight for it"! Shred is a fab springboard for the rest of her torturous programmes. The first time around I followed up with 6W6P then alternated BFBM and NMTZ. This time around I went onto Ri30 and am now on Body Revolution. Contemplating doing Body Shred in the lead up to Xmas but I'm not sure I'm hard core enough - not like some on here!

Poppiesway1 · 14/05/2021 07:32

@Queuing4Fergs and @gratedbeetroot Thankyou.
Just finished L1D2. Decided I’ll do it ever other day so I don’t burn myself out too much. I have to get up early before school are up and I start work at 8:30am too. feeling quite good this time about starting it again. Told ds I will have abs again.. Grin

AlgonquinBay · 14/05/2021 07:35

Happy Birthday for yesterday roonetta CakeWineSmile and cheers to being in the best shape of your life! Go you! StarStarStar

Great to hear about the C25K beetroot - I often swapped out the cardio for a run when doing BR and it works well.

Welcome to the thread poppies let us know how you are getting on.

I'm also contemplating moving on to Body Shred after Epic queuing but also toying with just moving on to Epic 2 or Epic Heat - decisions decisions Confused

Day 38 of Epic for me. Can really see a difference in my body shape and definition!

gratedbeetroot · 14/05/2021 10:10

That’s amazing! You’re selling Epic, which I’d never heard of! Where do you find it?

roonetta · 14/05/2021 16:56

Thanks for the birthday wishes!

I always found the first workout of each phase the hardest too Queuing. I can’t remember if it was the push or pull muscles, but there was definitely a difference in the difficulty.

I used to swap the cardio for Walking with Leslie Beetroot. I just hate being out of breath. On the odd occasion I did do Jillian’s cardio, I always felt really smug Grin. Epic is a free 10 week programme on YouTube. If you go to carolinegirvan.com it tells you all about Epic 1 and 2. I love it. It is mainly strength based with one HIIT per week. The only downside is the length of the workouts; 45-50 minutes each with a full body workout each week which is over an hour long. If you have the time though, I would definitely recommend her. I agree with Algonquin about seeing a difference in my body shape and definition.

Epic 2 day 13 chest and triceps. This one was brutal and my arms will be useless tomorrow. Probably the hardest arm workout yet. I couldn’t even do one of the incline push ups at the end Blush

Happy Birthday @roonetta! Welcome @Poppiesway1!

Today I did my final Ri30 L2 session and Yoga Meltdown L2. Starting ri30 L3 tomorrow, I’ve heard it’s a killer! Shock

roonetta · 15/05/2021 16:00

Good luck wineloffa you will nail it, we are with you in spirit Smile

Yes beetroot I wasn't really sure about Epic to be honest when I started it, as the workouts seemed long and weighty - I decided to give it a week and would go back to Jillian if I couldn't hack it. Well, I am up to 8 weeks now and haven't looked back. I do miss Jillian though, I think you can't beat the camaraderie of the BR squad and her talking/shouting you through it. I sometimes wish Caroline would talk more Grin

Epic day 39 for me today and 4 mile run. Good mile splits again today (that's how fast you run an individual mile roonetta) and Strava awarded me some medals Star so I'm getting faster. I wondered when starting Epic if concentrating on weights as opposed to Jillian's HIIT would affect my fitness levels but it hasn't made a difference. Just the small matter of a half marathon in 3-weeks time to deal with now ConfusedConfused

Queuing4Fergs · 15/05/2021 18:30

Professor thinking of you and your family still Flowers

Wineloffa how was L3 Ri30? The only thing I can really remember from it is the duck walks/bear crawls. I really couldn't do the duck walks as if I went too low, my knees just stuck at opposite sides as if I was squatting down and it felt easier than doing it without going down as low. So I'm sure I was doing it wrong. Also the rock and rollers - managed 1 getting back to my feet and that was aided by weights, but only the 1! Might try again when I'm a bit fitter (and my stomach is smaller!)

I think Epic is going to be a very distant goal - maybe next year? I'm hoping that BR and then Body Shred will make a huge impact on me this year. I will need a bridge programme or 2 between BR and BS which I'll do in the run up to Xmas so will do Killer Buns and Thighs I think as have never done that one.

Today was a glorious rest day and Thank God as last night my arse and triceps were killing me so a delayed reaction from WO5 I think. Have the pleasure of that one again tomorrow and am half dreading it (because, ow) and looking forward to it (so I can prove to myself that I can do it and it won't be as hard as last time). Have also decided to do roast beef for lunch tomorrow as the weather lends itself to a cosy roast in rather than the cracking bbq we should be enjoying this time of year

Happy weekend all

gratedbeetroot · 16/05/2021 09:19

Thanks for the information on Epic, roonetta, I’m very excited to hear it’s free and on YouTube! I will give it a go at some point once I’ve completed BR; Phase 2 starts tomorrow, time is flying!

Algon, I love the camaraderie of the BR squad and I find Jillian very motivational so I would miss that too.

Wineloffa, I hope L3 went well. I’ve totally forgotten everything in that!

Hope you’ve recovered, Queuing, and that WO5 is kinder on you today. I have this to come tomorrow I think (haven’t checked my tick chart yet)!

roonetta · 17/05/2021 11:42

You will smash the half-marathon Algonquin - you are amazing! Star

Hope you enjoyed your well deserved roast Queuing and that you found WO5 a bit easier second time round.

Good luck with phase 2 Beetroot!

How did you find L3 Wineloffa?

OP posts:
Queuing4Fergs · 17/05/2021 19:21

Pleased to report that BR WO5 was much easier yesterday. I also increased weights on WO6 today- still 1kg on weighted supermans as I really struggle with these, but otherwise 4kg throughout. Could definitely go heavier on the last weight swing move. Might try 2 x 3kg held together next time. Dreaded Cardio 2 tomorrow. I found it tough going last Friday - lots of jumping moves and few opportunities to catch your breath. Pray for me!

Beetroot how did you find WO5?

How did L3 go wineloffa?

Algonquin I missed that you were doing a half marathon soon. Amazing! You will smash it.

You contine to inspire, roonetta. You just seem to take this programme in your stride - with a name like Epic, it can't be a cakewalk easy but you just seem to be ticking them off. Are you lulling us all into a false sense of security?!

Wineloffa · 17/05/2021 21:51

Hi Everyone, I’m half way way through ri30 L3 and finding it quite tough!! The worst bits for me are the bear crawl and duck crawl!! So hard! @Queuing4Fergs like you I can only manage the duck walk if I don’t sink very low so I’m probably not doing it right..

I don’t mind the rock and rollers probably because of my yoga experience but hating the squat jump jacks!

Bekated happy birthday @roonettaCake

gratedbeetroot · 17/05/2021 23:32

Glad to hear it got easier, Queuing! Well done on increasing the weights - I’m a bit of a lightweight haha. Good luck with the cardio!

Overall I enjoyed W05 although it didn’t get off to a great start when the warm up was the yoga pose sequence (I’m just not a fan of yoga!) and then the first move was the press ups into twists! It improved after that though. Until halfway through circuit 4 when I was praying that it wouldn’t repeat Grin.

Not too much longer to go, wineloffa!

roonetta · 18/05/2021 12:16

Well done increasing the weights Queuing. 4kgs is no joke. Best of luck with cardio 2, also no joke! Thanks for the compliment Blush. I modify a lot and use half the weight she does, but I am loving the programme and for the most part don't have to force myself to do the workouts (except for HIIT Confused).

Well done Wineloffa! I also hated the duck and bear walks. Actually there wasn't much I liked about L3 at all Grin

Epic 2 day 15 HIIT workout. Lots of Jillian moves in this one; mountain climbers/plank tucks/high knees/squat jumps. Glad it's done.
