Epic day 3 - (abs & core) done ✅ plus a 3 mile run this morning.

roonetta · 25/03/2021 15:31

A 3 mile run after Epic! Nice one Algonquin 👍🏻

Epic day 32 obliques and abs done

Still going on 30DS - L2 D9 done ✅

Feeling stronger, looking forward to escaping the plank jacks and getting to L3

AlgonquinBay · 26/03/2021 16:55

Well done calmconfident - great progress Halo

Rest day yesterday for me and then Day 4 of Epic this morning. I swapped the order around a bit and so I have done the HIIT today and will save the full body dumbbell workout for the weekend.

roonetta · 27/03/2021 13:49

Well done Calm, I think L2 is definitely the hardest Star

That’s such a good idea Algonquin, I am such a stickler for the rules I never thought to change the workouts around, although I do move the rest days about.

Rest day for me yesterday and Epic day 33 dumbbell legs and biceps done.

Days exercised 62

Queuing4Fergs · 28/03/2021 10:42

calmconfident give me L2 plank Jacks over L3 mountain climbers any day! But I agree that L3 is far more tolerable than L2 though I hate those blasted supermans.

I've managed 5 days of L1 Ri30 and so far, so easy. I'm sweaty by the end but I think you get something of a free pass on some of the circuits - that second weights circuit for example is weird and feels more like a cool down. Heavier weights don't seem to make any difference. But I guess that's balanced against those awful running mans, the second round of which seems to go on for ever.

I've had to take a wee break though as got jabbed on Friday and spent yesterday in bed. Feeling much better today but my arm is still sore so will get back to it hopefully tomorrow

Some of you are so advanced! I feel a bit pathetic documenting my progress on the kiddie rides Blush

roonetta · 28/03/2021 15:56

I’ve always hated superman too Queuing. How can such a small movement be so hard? How many days are you going to do on each level? Hooray on getting your vaccine. My DH got his yesterday so I am the only one in my whole family still waiting. I am itching to get it. And no one could call any Jillian workout a “kiddie ride” Grin - they are damn hard and you are killing it Star

Epic day 34 full body dumbbell workout. The full body workouts are knackering as demonstrated by the fact I burned almost 500 calories.

Days exercised 63

AlgonquinBay · 28/03/2021 20:32

Fantastic work @Queuing4Fergs - and I'm not sure that I'd describe any Jillian workout as a kiddie ride, you're doing great! I always hate the cardio element (running mans/rockstar jumps etc) - but sadly I think that's why they are so effective!

Well done on getting your vaccine too - I felt a bit rough (headache/temperature) after I'd had mine, but 24 hours later I was back to normal - well worth it. Won't be long for you now roonetta Grin

Day 5 of Epic for me today (did the full body 1-hour dumbbell workout as I swapped day 4 for day 5).

Enjoying Epic but missing Jillian's motivational speaking! Find the silence a bit unnerving but aching like mad, so I know it's working Wink

AlgonquinBay · 28/03/2021 20:34

500 calories in one workout @roonetta that is insane!! Gold star for you Star

CalmConfident · 29/03/2021 08:15

30DS L3 D1 done ✅

Jumping lunges! Rock stars!

roonetta · 30/03/2021 12:25

Yuck to jumping lunges Calm. I really hurt my back doing those once and I am a bit nervous of them now. Saying that, they were in my Epic workout today, but I took it steady.

Epic day 35 Tabata HIIT - really don't like Caroline's HIIT workouts.

Days exercised 64

OP posts:
AlgonquinBay · 30/03/2021 19:44

Oh gosh- don't get me started on jumping lunges, they are a form of torture!!!

Rest day yesterday and good job really as I could hardly move after the 1 hour full body dumbbell workout Blush

Today was first workout of week 2 of Epic (day 6!) - dumbbells and core. I will be aching again tomorrow I'm sure.

Am enjoying Caroline but one tiny moan I have is that she doesn't incorporate a warm up into the workout and I keep forgetting before I tee up the right day's workout on YouTube. I therefore have to either have to faff around setting up a 5 min workout video or resort to doing some ridiculous running on the spot waving my arms around for a few minutes - just a small moan as I like it overall.

roonetta · 31/03/2021 12:49

Yes, her full body workouts are really draining Algonquin. I know what you mean about the warm ups. I have saved two of her warm ups in my YouTube library so I just make sure I do one of these before I start, but it is annoying.

Epic day 36 back and biceps done, which was a lot easier than yesterday's workout! I also did a Lilly Sabri 5 minute ab workout yesterday and will do it again today. I am aiming to do the 5 minute abs for the next week to see if I can get some strength into my abs and back which are sorely lacking.

Oh, and there were Supermans (Supermen?? Confused) in today's workout Queuing Grin

Epic day 37 Bulgarian lunges. Motivation is waning this week. No idea why 🤷🏻‍♀️

AlgonquinBay · 01/04/2021 14:07

Epic day 7 here - otherwise known as death by lunges Confused - I have no idea how I'm going to walk tomorrow!! I stupidly arranged to meet my friend for a run later tonight too but now I'm hoping she'll forget Grin

Keep going roonetta- day 37 is awesome, although I'm not sure that i even want to know what a Bulgarian lunge is!! Why do we do this to ourselves, when we could be sat on the sofa eating Easter eggs??!!

Queuing4Fergs · 01/04/2021 17:09

Supermans/men you say, Roonetta? That will be a hard swerve from me on Epic then Grin

So I've been keeping at it. Had 2 days off last weekend due to my AZ dead arm, but got back to Ri30 L1D6 on Monday. Arm was still a bit sore but it held up OK. So decided to move on to L2 on Tues through to today.

I do not like this level.

My short arms (I'm 5'1) just cannot lift my size 14 arse off the floor so that Sgt Jillian can see daylight. So I've sort of been doing an 'arse sweep' across the floor then pulling myself into a table (it in no way resembles a table) then lowering myself back down. It has killed my triceps so I'm glad of a rest day tomorrow. At least I did manage to do all of circuit 1 cardio (plank Jacks and mountain climbers - what a cow she is) without having to pause to put my shoulders out of their agony today, so I'm happy to see the quick improvement. And I'm pleased she at least admits that high knees 'suck'. Yes they do, Jillian.

Happy Easter all. I'll be allowing myself a roast potato or 2 with lunch on Sunday (I'm low carbing) but will at least make sure I've done my work out first 😇

CalmConfident · 01/04/2021 19:37

30DS L3 D3 done ✅

This level does go fast and the dumbbell snatches always seem oddly easy compared to the rest of the workout.

roonetta · 02/04/2021 17:06

Ahh, day 7 Algonquin. I thought I was going to cry if there was another set of lunges. I have to say that so far, day 7 has been the hardest. I was surprised I was able to walk the next day but my legs weren’t too bad. The reason I do this to myself is so I can eat Easter eggs guilt free 😆

Your description of doing the table exercise made me laugh Queuing. A tip is to do them on your dumbbells. I have short arms too and this gives them more height Grin.

Epic day 38 killer upper body done. This one went surprisingly fast. My Fitbit also counted me gardening as a workout - result!

AlgonquinBay · 02/04/2021 23:55

You're doing great @Queuing4Fergs - the tables are horrible!! Doing the cardio without pausing is some achievement, go you! And enjoy those roast potatoes, you've earned them

Gardening is hard work @roonetta - I'm glad the Fitbit acknowledges that Grin

Despite the horror of yesterday's lunge-fest I actually didn't ache today at all!! Weird.

Day 8 of Epic done - dumbbell arms but I didn't find this one too hard at all (probably as I am only lifting 5kgs, compared to her 12kgs!!).

Queuing4Fergs · 03/04/2021 13:44

Roonetta I wish I'd read your post before doing Ri30 L2D4 this morning - using weights to give myself more butt clearance is genius. Will definitely do that tomorrow.

Thanks for the shout out, Algonquin. I managed that blasted circuit without stopping again today (just) so now I know I can do it, I can never let myself pause again! I tried to bring my knees to my chest in the squat thrusts this time but I find it so hard to breathe! So I do little in/out bunny hops instead which is hard enough. Still finding balancing a challenge on those stork poses - probably because my first name is the same of one of her 'two best girls' so I feel like she's talking directly to me which puts me off Grin

Can't wait to be off this level. Feels interminable. But then Level 3 awaits, so...

Am in awe of those of you completing long programmes.

ProfessorRadcliffeEmerson · 04/04/2021 08:38

Well, my two weeks of gentle exercise and yoga turned into 4, but I see other people have been doing brilliantly while I’ve been gone.

I’m using the school holiday to kick-start Bodyshred- week 1 workout 1 done this morning. Hard but do-able, though by the time she got to the fourth kind of press-up I had to modify. If I can do the first couple of weeks before I have to be back on the school run, I hope I can stay motivated to do the rest.

StealthPolarBear · 04/04/2021 08:42

Hello everyone, I have been getting back into jillian. Currently doing level 2 as level 1 was getting boring (but not easy). I have done this many times in the past, need to keep it up this time :(

roonetta · 04/04/2021 16:20

Well done on getting that plank circuit done without stopping Queuing!

Great to see you starting Bodyshred Professor. I can’t remember if you said you have done it before, but hope you like it.

Welcome @StealthPolarBear. Are you going to join us and check in occasionally? Smile

Rest day for me yesterday and an active rest day today with a 3 mile WWL. My muscles definitely needed a break. Won’t count it as a day exercised.

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 04/04/2021 17:13

I hope so - really need to stick with it! Thank you

roonetta · 05/04/2021 12:35

Epic day 39 full body workout. Tough but enjoyable. I think the rest days did me good.
