Popping in to say ‘hi’ to everyone now that I’m a traitor and hang out on the Les Mills threads.

roonetta · 15/03/2021 18:39

Hi @HermioneWeasley Smile - I am a traitor too as I am not following Jillian’s programme at the moment. Be nice to see you join us again, even if you aren’t Jillianing! How are you finding Les Mills?

OP posts:
HermioneWeasley · 15/03/2021 19:31

I generally hate exercise, but I don’t hate the Les Mills stuff I do. ‘Enjoy’ would be a stretch but I don’t hate it.

They do a 30 day free trial if you’re interested and so many different workouts - I tend to do pump, grit strength and I’ve just started getting into core.

roonetta · 16/03/2021 13:37

Will definitely look it up Hermione

Epic day 25 (half way!) HIIT full body workout, 60 exercises. This was a good one even though it was longer than her usual HIIT workouts.

Days exercised 53

Have you finished BR Algonquin?

Epic day 26 full body dumbbell workout done. Another good one which flew by.

3 days of BR left roonetta - am thinking of doing Epic after I finish, would you recommend it? Have you noticed any results? I have looked it up and it looks good but 2 things I'm not sure of:

  1. worried I won't be able to manage workouts that are longer than 30 minutes (it's purely psychological but I think that knowing Jillian is only going to last for half an hour makes me more inclined to do it and fit it into my day Confused)

  2. are the workouts very weights-focused? She is very muscular and although I like to do weights, I also like to mix it with a bit of fitness work as well...

I guess really the answer is just for me to try it and if I don't enjoy it then just move on to something else.

Hi there Hermione the LesMills workouts sound good too - so many online workouts to choose from. Smile

roonetta · 17/03/2021 18:38

I am loving Epic Algonquin. I too was worried about the length of the workouts but I haven’t found it a problem, although I try and aim to do the full body workout which is over an hour, on a weekend.

It is very weights focused with one HIIT day a week but I burn more calories lifting weights than I did with 1/2 hour of Jillian. I like the slower pace of the exercises, and have managed to use my 5kg weights for mostly everything and could even go heavier for some exercises. I am definitely feeling stronger and can see some definition in my arms.

I also thought I wouldn’t like the fact that Caroline doesn’t speak throughout the workout, but this is also fine. I fact sometimes you have to count your reps so you are so focused on doing this the time flies by. You may have already seen it, but there is an Epic guide which tells you more about the programme at carolinegirvan.com

Hope this helps Smile

I forgot to add that she is starting a new 10 week programme on 5th April called Epic Heat which is going to be 30 minute workouts and sounds a similar format to Jillian Wink

Still going...30DS L2 D4 done ✅ plus the letting go of anxiety & worry meditation Halo

roonetta · 18/03/2021 13:46

Ooh like the sound of the meditation Calm. Well done for cracking on with Shred Star

Epic day 27 triceps and core done. Really struggled with this one, lots of stopping and starting. She does tough push up variations which are almost impossible done properly, but too easy when done on my knees. Sigh, never mind. Arms will be paying for it tomorrow.

Oh wow! Well that sounds like it will be right up my street then, thanks for that roonetta Smile

Day 81 of BR and my last week 11 workout. Just 2 more days to go....

roonetta · 19/03/2021 16:34

Rest day today as my muscles are very sore. Did a 2 mile WWL instead but won’t count is as an exercise day.

AlgonquinBay · 19/03/2021 22:36

Day 82 of BR done and my last strength training workout. No more wheel push ups GrinGrin

roonetta · 20/03/2021 13:48

Well done Algonquin - how do you feel? I know I felt a real sense of accomplishment after finishing such a long programme. Gold star for you Star

Epic day 28, glutes, hamstrings and back (posterior chain apparently). Another nice one.

Queuing4Fergs · 20/03/2021 13:53

Hi, great to see a Jillian thread Smile . I've just completed 30DS for the second time. I did it all the way through at the start of lockdown 1, followed by 6W6P then started alternating NMTZ and BFBM. I hated those (especially BFBM) and basically stopped working out after a stressful June/July. Never got back into it last year but am back and stepping up to the plate.

I'm going to start Ri30 tomorrow for the first time, and I tend to do 3 days followed by a rest day, then 3 days rest day etc. I think it's right that you do 6 days on each level before moving up?

I'd love to follow Ri30 by Body Revolutuon but can't find it in the UK. To those doing it or have done it, do you have the dvds or are you using the app? I'm reluctant to shell out for the app as already have lots of the dvds and I hear it can be very glitch....

roonetta · 20/03/2021 16:28

Hi @Queuing4Fergs Smile - I think you’ll love Ri30 if you enjoyed 30DS. I found Body Revolution on a website called bilibili.com which is the Chinese version of YouTube. You can find most of Jillian’s workouts on there. While it is all in Chinese, if you type Jillian Michaels in the search bar, all her workouts come up. Hope this helps and that you will stay and check in with us Grin

Queuing4Fergs · 20/03/2021 16:40

OK thats great thanks. Hope it's still up when I go to do it.

I think 'enjoyed' is rather overstating my feelings towards Shred Grin

AlgonquinBay · 21/03/2021 08:03

Day 83 and final day of BR finished yesterday

Thanks for the roonetta you're right, I felt a massive sense of achievement having finished the 12 weeks - I can't actually believe that I managed to stick to it for that long. V proud

Will definitely move on to try the Epic programme next - I do fancy the one that starts on 5th April, but not sure I can wait that long so I might jump headlong into Epic 1 and see what happens.

Welcome to the thread @Queuing4Fergs - I have been using Jillian's app for BR - it works fine for me and I think it works out about £9 per month, but have used billibilli in the past too and that works fine. I don't have a DVD player though so my options are a bit limited.

Let us know how you get on!!

roonetta · 21/03/2021 17:10

🥳🥳🥳🥳 Algonquin - well done! Glad you are going to give Epic a go. I hope you will like it.

Epic day 29 full body isometric workout done. That was tough on the old legs, they were definitely shaky at times.

Day 1 of Epic 1 done ✅

Have never done so many lunges in my life - bet I can't walk tomorrow!! Am going to weigh myself and take a day 1 photo too, so I can see any progress made.

roonetta · 22/03/2021 12:13

Haha I know what you mean about the lunges Algonquin - wait until you get to day 7 Confused

Epic day 30 Intense full body HIIT, EMOM (every minute on the minute). Wow, that was hard but fun. Yourself against the clock trying to finish 3 sets of exercises x 10 each. The quicker you are, the more rest you have in between. My arms are dead.

roonetta · 23/03/2021 13:21

Was planning a rest day today and maybe a WWL, but for some mad reason decided to do Cardio 2 from Body Revolution. My fitness has definitely improved (especially the burpees) but wow, I had forgotten what a beast Jillian is!

Definitely counting this as a days exercise!

OP posts:
AlgonquinBay · 23/03/2021 21:48

Day 2 of Epic and today the hideous amount of lunges have been replaced by a hideous amount of press ups Confused Legs really aching today too - sounds like I'll be a wreck after Day 7 roonetta - check you out doing Jillian's cardio for a 'rest' Grin

Survived it though and also did a 20 minute WWL.

roonetta · 24/03/2021 12:17

She does do a lot of repetition work Algonquin. I wasn't sure what I thought at first, but the aches the day after confirmed that it must be working! Not sure what I was thinking doing Jillian on my rest day; must have been subconsciously missing her Grin

Epic day 31 abs and glutes done.

Days exercised 60
