Third year for me aiming to be as active as possible most days. So join me in setting a goal and keeping on track by logging on here Smile. I’ve set a 500mile run target this year to be realistic as I’ve nursed foot issues most of 2021 which really curtailed my running miles but sea swimming and trail running have developed into my passions. What’s your challenge this year?

DH had his jab this morning, I get mine tomorrow so we're planning on a week or so of taking it rather easy. Just a leisurely 5.5 km in the sunshine today.

325.3 walked
35 rowed

amysaurus87 · 01/03/2021 15:42

35.88 miles of walking done over the last 2 weeks! It's slow going but with the longer days I should be able to increase my miles!

Walking: 176.10/1323.9
Running: 0/50

Ringsender2 · 01/03/2021 18:01

@FrangipaniBlue thanks for the pointer. Am checking LTHR out now. Still a bit disturbed that a not very fast run sends my HR shooting up, but also confused that I am not out of breath/puffing/red in the face or feeling like my heart is jumping out of my chest at a high HR.

FrangipaniBlue · 01/03/2021 21:27

My friend is the opposite to you @Ringsender2 she gets out of breath and red faced and her heart rate barely changes Shock

FrangipaniBlue · 01/03/2021 21:31

@ErrolTheDragon I've heard that there's a suggestion that doing some form of exercise immediately before getting the jab lessens side effects.... I have no idea how true this is or what the science is but I had no side effects and I'd done 3hrs on the turbo trainer that morning.

Could be coincidence but still worth a try?!?

drspouse · 01/03/2021 21:38

7k bike 2k walk, day 2 of the sofa to 50k.

LaLaLanded · 01/03/2021 21:45

@Ringsender2 I think @FrangipaniBlue is totally right re LTHR - more effective.

Also to my original point - if you feel good, healthy and strong while running, and are suffering no ill effects, perhaps not best to worry? We tend to know when we’re pushing our bodies beyond their limits.

10km for me today - a nice swift one with some good maintenance of speed on inclines. Going to see what I can fit in tomorrow basically - busy day, puppy is demanding. I’m doing a work challenge so am trying to run every day this week, which means it might be an odd one.

FatLadySang · 02/03/2021 09:38

Hi so I made it to the end of Feb! Lost 4kg and completed:

118.8km walking/running
63.3 pottering around with small DC

A bit behind schedule on getting to 1000km this year but ran for 7.5km for the first time in my life last week so there is hope it can pick up as we go through the year. Ran 5.5km fairly easily this morning so just need to put an end to my habit of dawdling when I’m not thinking about pace (a real problem at this time of the month).

If you’d told December me where I would be now (even whilst I was setting myself goals) I’d have thought you were bonkers!

Current stats 125/1000km (my goal)
66/500km (small DC goal)

FrangipaniBlue · 02/03/2021 10:38

That's brilliant @FatLadySang well done!!!

ErrolTheDragon · 02/03/2021 12:21

The jab was in the next town so I got a change of scene and a hill - walked a bit before then after, 7.8 km in all.

333.1 walked
35 rowed

TheLongRider · 02/03/2021 12:36

4km walked and 50km cycled so far in March. It's sunny/foggy over here this morning and a lot colder than the blue skies would indicate.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/03/2021 12:44

There was a good frost here too, but it's warming up now.

LaLaLanded · 02/03/2021 15:02

Happy March! I totally forgot it was a new month.

11km this morning - easygoing kms, nothing strenuous.

480/2021km running.

tizwozliz · 02/03/2021 18:52

5.5 km on the bike - 107 km total

Would have gone further but it was too busy to be fun.

It's a run day tomorrow, I might start running every other day soon. I'm doing every 3rd day at the moment as whilst I have a reasonable level of fitness I'm not used to running so don't want to overdo it.

Inniu · 02/03/2021 21:15

2 5k runs and only 6k dog walking

Walking 214km
Running 180/820

drspouse · 02/03/2021 21:24

I hardly went out of the house today, just 1 km to and from my physio.

tizwozliz · 03/03/2021 14:20

If it's any help @Ringsender2 this is what my heart rate on my 5k run looked like with my new Fitbit. The dips are where I had a little walk for 20 secs. I wouldnt say I was working overly hard, i.e. I'd be able to stop and talk without having to wait to get my breath back.

I'm not worrying about it but it sounds quite similar to the profile you were seeing

5k today 112 total

drspouse · 03/03/2021 14:31

4.5k today, school run and shops.

ErrolTheDragon · 03/03/2021 14:47

Slightly feverish after yesterday's jab so I'm going to rest up while my immune system does whatever it's doing.Grin

Ringsender2 · 03/03/2021 16:03

@tizwozliz - yes! mine v similar. I guess if we didn't have fitbits we'd never know, hey? I'll post up one of mine later. What time for 5km are you if you don't mind me asking? I'm about 33 mins.

@drspouse - same! didn't even go out in fact. glued to blimmin zoom meetings from 9-7.30.

tizwozliz · 03/03/2021 16:24

I'm doing just under 30 minutes for 5k if I work it out from doing 5.3km in 32 minutes. I've only started running this year, I'm normally a swimmer.

TheLongRider · 03/03/2021 22:44

Another 25km in the legs today. It's an easy week on my training plan with a ramp test to recalculate my FTP next week.

Foresttheout · 04/03/2021 15:14

12km walked in the last few days, still struggling to do more than 2/3km at a time. If I do more I spend the evening in agony but the physio has encouraged me to keep trying so hopefully will get there soon.
Total is now 89.5/1000km

drspouse · 04/03/2021 20:13

3k bike and 1.5k walk. SO CLOSE to 200k walked.
I've done two of my sofa to 50k rides but it's telling you to have a total rest (no cross training which includes Pilates/yoga) twice a week, I'd fuse with the sofa entirely if I didn't do my stretching!

Run1000km2021 · 04/03/2021 20:25

Busy few days without running but just managed a lovely and much needed 10km - 344 km done so far this year😊
