New thread needed! All runners welcome, whatever your pace or distance.
Cold icy run for me this morning, couple of exciting sliding episodes! Not a fan of the ice...

Crikey. That was a truly miserable, self-deprecating post!! Sorry about that!

emummy · 22/12/2020 14:40

No fun being injured @pepperminttaste!
Keep going, hope it continues to improve

Has anyone found citystrides? it links with apps like strava and you can try to run every road in your town/city/borough watever, kept me moving in the summer and getting back into it.

Amaura · 22/12/2020 20:16

7 wet road miles ☔️

Oh no peppermint - it’s awful and so frustrating being injured. Well done being so careful in trying to get back to it. I don’t have that discipline - I always rush back and make things worse.

Was supposed to do a recovery run this am. Got a bit excited, went too fast and now my legs feel more tired than they did to start with. What an idiot. Im doing intervals tomorrow - I predict they will be slow!

Squelchy soggy slithery sloppy slide around the fields today - just a couple of miles as DH is trying to work and DS is full of beans, which is not helping. Feel so much better for going, had some mildly crappy news yesterday (I’m job hunting and it’s shit, frankly) so I needed to get out.

Weirdly warm run managing to avoid the rain.

Winter wonderland run today! Dh & I went out to the forest and had a lovely run in the snow. It was freezing but great.

Hope you get better news soon spudlet
Lovely pictures emummy
No snow here but had lots of rain recently and overnight so no off roading today. But the sun did shine

Merry Christmas all. I'm having a go at C210K - but only doing my usual 5K on the days I work so will stretch it out a bit.

Amaura · 24/12/2020 14:56

Beautiful running weather today to make up for a truly miserable 7 miles last night.

Did a timed 7km and did much better than I expected. Feel that means my parkrun is probably only a 1min from PB rather than the 2 mins I was fearing.

Well done for getting out @Spudlet. We might have snow in a few days @emummy, love the pictures though. It’s so hard to not excited sometimes though @Purpleraindeer. I’ve made the mistake many times.

Lucky you with the snow emummy! Was a lovely sunny cold day here. Managed the intervals but they were slow. It’s always the first few that are the worst for me. After carefully selecting a non muddy road route I couldn’t believe my luck when I saw the road had flooded in 2 places so I still came back with wet feet. Grin
Merry Christmas all - for the first time in years I’m not going for a Xmas day run as I’m cooking so I don’t have time.

Lovely pics emummy

Managed a short run in the stinging face sleet.

Sleet is not nice!
Well it’s rained overnight so the snow is all gone. Nice steady run around town this morning. Hope everyone had a good day yesterday and no one is affected by the flooding.

Got out for a 5k this morning. I thought I might get below 30 minutes at one point, but it was a quagmire in places so that slowed me down a lot. Did it in 31 minutes 44, so not too far off. I’ve only ever got sub-30 once, so it would be nice to do it again!

Nearly there Spudlet

Running off the over indulgence this morning and avoiding the water.

schoolcook · 26/12/2020 13:40

@Spudlet I've never got below 33.5 minutes despite me trying so I think that's awesome.

I did a slow 9K today , warming up to do a 10K on New Year's Day.

IRun4Me · 26/12/2020 14:14

Hope everyone had a nice Christmas. Nice run with the dog. Had to scramble through bushes at one point to get past the massive puddles/mud bath. That’s meant to be fields not a lake.

Wow. It is wet where you are IRun! I now feel like I shouldn’t moan about the flooded road I waded through today. Was very quiet out. (Tier 4)

Hope everyone managed a good Christmas one way or another. I've been out a couple of times this week and did a short but lovely couple of miles yesterday morning. Was crisp blue sky.

Want to see if I can get a sub 1hr 10k before the end of the year so am thinking I'll do a steady 8km tomorrow, some intervals Tuesday and then attempt the 10k on NYE. I was 1:03 last time so not loads to knock off but it still feels quite far out of reach at the mo!

pomegranatefudge · 26/12/2020 21:03

Oops forgot miles!

Hello!

I realise this thread may be coming to an end, but please can I join if it's continuing into next year?

I've recently got back into running and would love to run further/faster, and could use some inspiration and advice!

Thank you!

emummy · 26/12/2020 22:33

Welcome @50FootWave! The thread will definitely continue so please do join. The numbers in bold are the total for everyone, so if you do a run you can just add your miles to the previous number if you want to.

Thanks @emummy @Amaura and @IRun4Me for your replies to my stitch question. I think I definitely do overdo it a bit in my quest to not be a slow runner. I feel like a 12 min mile is really slow so push myself and end up with a really high heart rate in the process! I did my last run before dinner and it was much more successful, no stitch! It was my last couch to 5k! I'm working towards a Xmas medal from the running bible to do 25 miles in Dec and Jan. I should complete it during my next run as I've done 22.95 miles in Dec so far. They've got a new year medal that looks really good that I'll probably sign up for to keep me going with an incentive. So the miles I'll add are 19.5 to the total as that's how many I've done since I last posted my miles.

50FootWave · 27/12/2020 06:27

Thanks @emummy I'm glad to hear it! Nice to meet you all and really enjoying the posts.

I ran 5 miles yesterday - wanted to have a longer run this morn but Storm Bella is raging outside....it may clear later.

Otherwise I'll have my longer run tomorrow.
