New thread needed! All runners welcome, whatever your pace or distance.
Cold icy run for me this morning, couple of exciting sliding episodes! Not a fan of the ice...

We seemed to have dropped 300 miles! Think the total should be 682.2!
Loving the bright shoes, I always try to get colourful ones. I had a black pair for a while, it didn't feel right.

Tough interval run, lovely and mild though and no ice to contend with.
Had a run in with some rude cyclists which got me cross, had to stop and breathe!

16 trail miles today, feels like I’m properly back in the game now. Haven’t quite incorporated all the hills again yet, but had over 1100ft climb in there. Plus a four mile warm up yesterday.

Hope we all had some nice spring sunshine today (sorry - looks like you didn’t @emummy). We had sunshine and daffodils. I’ve never felt so in need of spring as I do this year!

16 miles for me - 10 trail and the last 6 on lanes so I pushed the pace a bit. Am knackered now!

Sounds like you’re back on form @Amaura

Shorter run today as did my long run in the week.

A nice steady 6 miles for me today. I’ve not run this consistently in a long time, so 6 miles feels like a lot! 🤣

I have a niggle in my ankle that just won’t go away. Does anyone else have a niggle/injury that they just maintain in the hope that it doesn’t get any worse?

@Purpleraindeer did you only add 6 instead of 16?

Impressive running, did you get the chill out for the rest of the day?

Toomanynotes · 21/02/2021 06:28

Hey all. Sorry it's taken me ages to catch up! I've been out of sorts with a tummy bug Envy

My ultra was fantastic. We managed to get in at just under 9 hours (our target was 10). The scenery was magnificent and luckily it didn't get too hot - a lot of the course was in forest anyway, so nice and shady. The end was running through the Rotorua Sulphur Flats with no shade, mid 20s heat and very stinky sulphur pools all around.

The aid stations were great - one even had dominoes pizza 😁

No more running since from me -i will try to get out this week, but at least I have 33 miles to add and can say I've done an Ultra 😁

We'll and truly got the bug now though and looking for more

Here's me at the start line in front of the Pohutu Geyser

Wow @Toomanynotes that’s amazing !
Just run less than 10% of your epic adventure but I am getting faster !

Congratulations @Toomanynotes! Fantastic running. Love the picture. Hope your legs have recovered!
Well done on quitting drinking @Borisjohnsonshairbrush, glad it’s making a difference. I cracked and had 2 glasses of wine last night, was feeling so fed up!
Still managed good run this morning, 9 degrees so t shirt weather, and sunny too. Main feature today was the river - our river rises in the Cairngorms, so just now with rain and the snow melt it’s gone from it’s usual 2-3 feet deep placid river to a mad torrent. The path in the picture should be about 6 feet away from the water & quite a bit higher.

Well done @Toomanynotes. What an achievement.

7 odd today. Catching up with a friend so went a bit over plan but has meant I’ve done 50 miles this week, and it felt relatively easy. Next week will resort back to planned 44

Well done Toomanynotes

Lovely 7 miles with a friend this morning. Only 1 muddy part. Warm day so had cropped leggings and a lighter top. Spring is definitely on its way.

Iamblossom · 21/02/2021 14:23

Amazing effort @toomanynotes. Congratulations.

@anniy yes I do... I get ankle pain and sometimes a two ge in my right thigh. They don't seem to get worse per se, and I can maintain by having a couple of days off.

9 miles to add, 3 yesterday, 6 this morning. Taking the next two days off (see above pain management comment).

Quitting booze, there's an idea... Most of my weekend runs are done with a mild hangover.... 🙄

Well done @Toomanynotes I’m really envious. It sounds amazing. Ultras are addictive in a really strange way so I bet you’ll be back for another!

That’s some impressive mileage @Amaura!

I’m totally done in today. No idea why really as normal mileage and my Strava says my effort level is low but I’m quite broken. 5.5miles this am and it was a struggle with a lot of walking.

Someone asked re having an ongoing niggle - I definitely do. Have a periodically sore hamstring/glute. Sometimes better sometimes worse but never goes away completely. It’s annoying but doesn’t stop me running so I guess that’s good.

I think I cross posted mileage with someone yesterday - sorry for screwing the numbers up!

Well done, @Toomanynotes, what an incredible achievement!

@Borisjohnsonshairbrush I gave up drinking in December 2019, and it has been one of the best things I have ever, ever done.

Managed 10km this morning, but my knee is not right - I'm going to try and see a physio next week, see what's up. I have never had running pain before, so hopefully it's no big deal.

Frustrating as feel I could run further but don't want to make it worse...

Nice work everyone else on all the running!

Amazing @Toomanynotes Well done x

IRun4Me · 21/02/2021 15:56

Lots of posts and lots of fab running. I can’t remember everything.
Well done on your ultra toomanynotes that is an amazing achievement.
And to add to the Brookes running shoes conversation. Should I mention I currently have 4 different pairs Grin depending on where and how far I’m going (that’s my excuse).
Set off this morning with no plan but managed 10 miles so pleased with that. Felt quite spring like and the mud wasn’t quite as bad.

Spudlet · 21/02/2021 16:02

So warm here today I was in a sleeveless top! 5.5 miles done but like @Purpleraindeer I found it a bit of a slog and walked quite a bit. Didn’t sleep too well last night so that’s most likely why. Was lovely to hear the birds singing though, there were lots of hares chasing and boxing on the top fields and the spring flowers were coming out, so it was nice.
