New thread needed! All runners welcome, whatever your pace or distance.
Cold icy run for me this morning, couple of exciting sliding episodes! Not a fan of the ice...

Short evening run with the dog. Didn’t go particularly fast but was a nice plod after work.

I’m quite partial to a gentle 5km @IRun4Me just enough to make your mind happy and get your body loosened up for next time.

Saw physio today (but back to my normal one rather than the one that was available in September). It was as I expected an adductor rather than hamstring issue. Still the same impact though, easy on speed and hills (as found out the hard way over Xmas and NY). Slight tweak to my exercises and ultrasound massaging in the right place. If I start intervals I need to start really small and gradually build up. Still can’t really complain, I’ve done over 40 miles a week for the last two.

Sorry I’ve not been responding to everyone’s stories. It’s been really lovely to read, but a massive uptick in people combined with barely getting through the work and homeschool day, meant I couldn’t really keep up.

Well done again to all you impressive ladies in January 💪

3 miles after work yesterday and a dip in the lake half way round 🥶

5k for me this morning - really tired today so cut it a bit short, but still, a run is a run.

Intervals in the snow today! I think I’ve had 1 ice free run this year! We are forecast more snow for the rest of the week so should be fun.
@Annoy - a dip in the lake?!! I don’t want to think about how cold that must have been!

@50FootWave I felt a bit like this on my run today too.

5ish km in the mud. Dogs enjoyed it.

@lamblossom holding up a tiny, tired fist bump to you...

Spudlet · 02/02/2021 17:11

A dip?! 😱🥶

Tired fist bump from me too to everyone. 3.5 miles done today. First 5k was a bit muddy, then I got to within half a mile of the 5k mark and realised there was almost the chance I might get a PB, or at least go sub-30. So went for it, but didn’t quite have the speed. Decided to walk home, then Bon Jovi came onto my headphones so started my watch up again and ran the last half mile home. I was tired before I started... now I’m virtually catatonic. But happier than I was before I went.

I thought you must have fallen in a big puddle annoy
calmconfident I’m doing miles for mind aswell.
Managed to get the teenager to come out for a run so kept it short.

It was quite invigorating... my 1st lake swim of the year, although defo not a swim and literally a dip right in and then out 😀

It makes you feel very tingle when you get out.

Kudos to you lot running in the snow/ice! 😀

Purpleraindeer · 02/02/2021 20:14

Was it 5k day today? I did the same. Also felt tired. Unsurprising really as I’ve gone from 2 runs per week in nov to 4 per week and av 30miles. 40m per week is impressive @Amaura.

Tried an intervals run with Nike Run Club which was exhausting but fun.

The weather here has been so wet and windy so I only made it out for a quick n dirty 3ish km on Sunday but I've been doing a fast 4km walk every day too. I have my first 10k 'race' on Sunday - I think it's going to be a real stop and start affair as I seem to have regressed from being able to do 8km fairly happily a few weeks back (albeit with stops) - my legs just feel exhausted. Anyway, I've been sponsored lots of money so I'm just going to get on with it and thankfully the weather looks OK.

Doublethecuddles · 03/02/2021 13:47

The weather here is too disgusting for me to run, heavy sleety showers and a freezing easterly wind. I got soaked just walking over for the paper today.
Well done to everyone running

PaddingtonPaddington · 03/02/2021 19:05

13.1 to add from me for hill intervals Monday and tempo run yesterday.

Borisjohnsonshairbrush · 03/02/2021 20:45

5.7 miles this morning 3hrs 23 minutes sleep. Absolute killer, couldn't even make it to 6miles and I can easily smash 6miles usually..

Purpleraindeer · 03/02/2021 21:35

@Borisjohnsonshairbrush sounds like you toughed it out. Lack of sleep is a killer.

Good luck with the race @dubyalass. Maybe you need a few rest days before?

Tempo run for me. I really loved it. I went off a bit fast as I have no idea what my 10k/mara pace etc are. Managed to hang on to it though Smile

dubyalass · 03/02/2021 22:24

Thank you @Purpleraindeer! I am going to do a slow 5km jog tomorrow morning and then leave it until race day. My energy levels are much better than last week thank goodness. It will be a very slow effort on Sunday otherwise I won’t manage it, but that’s ok.

Then I need to find another thing to train for, to keep the motivation going.

WhatILoved · 03/02/2021 22:50

Good luck with the race!
A ploddy 5.5km for me today.

emummy · 04/02/2021 08:49

Good luck for Sunday @dubyalass! Hope the weather is kind.
Easy run in the snow this morning; enough fell overnight to be just perfect for running in trail shoes, no nasty ice to worry about.
We’ve an amber weather warning for snow at the weekend, should be interesting!

Thanks both! I had a nice and easy jog this morning and felt fairly comfortable so fingers crossed for Sunday. I don't think we've got a weather warning down here but the wind is ever present, being close to the sea! Just got to keep it behind me Grin

50FootWave · 04/02/2021 09:14

Good luck @dubyalass!

@Annoy I'm a regular sea swimmer though my usual group don't meet right now, so mostly paddling/swimming when safe on my own - can't wait to get back in properly with my pals later this month hopefully! I don't lake swim often as there aren't any near me!

7km for me this morning. I was really sweating - so either I'm coming down with something or the temp is on the up.

I've had a bastard of a week, next week looking the same, but nothing will stop me getting out!
