Oh sea swimming and yoga sounds lovely.

My kids were back at school last week so no more scenic west of Ireland runs for me.

6k this am.

I’ll try the tennis ball trick next time thanks errol. Life Stress was building a lot pre-hols compounded by my mum being ill and a hospital dash. I always carry stress in my back and neck they lock up. Yoga daily I find very beneficial just 20mins is really helping building strength in my upper body and Hitt stuff in my glutes. Had an expected 1.2km swim today as the pool phoned me up with a lane cancellation half hour before the session, luckily I was about to crate our puppy for her nap time so it worked out perfectly.

Hi, I've been having a social media break recently, but thought I'd check in to update the stats!

Total: 984.5/ 14.5 -will need a new target!

Been doing a lot of races/virtual challenges. I did P7 in 7 (run every day for 7 day's, 61km) and I've been doing the GNR solo (40 runs in 80 days) which ends on Sunday, I've got the great north virtual on Sunday which is a half M and a local 10k in real life on 4th Oct. then a virtual 12 runs (1 mile on the hour every hour for 12) on 24th Oct. Busy!

The tennis ball thing; I have done that for my hamstring/glute. You basically sit on the ball until you feel the calf twinge which is the muscle isolating and then gently flex your foot which gives a nice deep muscle massage. Blooming painful though if you're very tender in the muscle!

Welcome back bear hope you enjoyed your SM break. Think it does us all good at times. Lots of virtual challenges you have planned, good luck.

Had an amazing sea swim yesterday a big mental challenge for me along the coast within a group of 12. Loved it we had perfect conditions so lucky. Today I need to do a Tri practice cycle/sea swim & run as I have a small Tri at the weekend and have done zero “brick” training Blush all the other events I’d planned were cancelled but this one looks like it’s going ahead. Just need the sleeping puppy on my lap to wake so I can walk her then crate her then go do some exercise.

@Inniu I was sceptical at first to be honest but I've really enjoyed them during lockdown, especially the endurance type one's (eg I did a run 7 in 7 in July and did 61km in a week which was the most I've ever done!).

I am liking the Strava Challenges at the moment. I signed up to cover 72miles in September. At the moment, I need September to have 31 days to acheive it, but I'm sure 1 long walk will get me on track as I have been averaging 2.2 miles recently. ( or I could get my bike back on the road.) Grin
Round here harvest is changing things. The footpath that was planted with potatoes has been sprayed off but still difficult to traverse. DS and I managed yesterday at our 4th attempt since June. The corn field that had a nice path left through it was ploughed up and now you are stepping across furoughs. Need to nag the Footpaths Officer again.

ErrolTheDragon · 09/09/2020 19:26

This is the only virtual challenge I'm engaged with.Grin
I've rather lost it in the second half of the year for various reasons though.
Still, 8.5 km today, 1176.1

10.5km today, including some paths we'd not been on before and an unexpected discovery of a beautiful clear spring with small waterfalls somewhere we wouldn't have expected it. The area is mostly limestone so there are springs but few surface streams.

Mini triathlon today, nice to do an organised event my first for 12months as everything else has been cancelled. Also good to do it with my 13yr, we had a nice morning out. And faster than last year Smile

Sounds lovely errol. My planned re-scheduled twice HM in Nov has now been cancelled so I don’t have to stress about getting my running back up and can keep enjoying trails & sea swimming instead

Glorious weather here today - warm but not excessive. 9.9km; lunch in an ancient circle in a grove of trees in a green 'bowl' partially surrounded by moorland. It was made of wood so the positions are marked by short concrete cylinders which make perfect seats. Smile
