After doing this successfully now for 2 years I thought I'd start the 2020 thread

All welcome

Sorry you've been having a tough time, SpringFan, hope things are getting back on track.

My Pilates instructor is thinking about starting 'real life' classes again but the extra spacing and cleaning time make it sound financially unviable. I guess a leisure centre will have large enough spaces and cleaning staff. But the zoom sessions twice a week are suiting me and others very well.

9.1 km today

It was certainly different Errol. Instead of the small studio fitting 12, we had a room about 4 times the size for 9 of us. Each of us had a box about 2m x 2m with allocated kit- maps, blocks etc, but most of us took our own mats. The boxs were 2 m apart as well, at an angle she could see everyone. I missed her wondering around doing adjustments though. It was 40 minutes to allow for cleaning afterwards.
Went to the gym this morning. Very socially distanced, really had to plan what I needed to do so I could follow the one way system. It was interesting though- only allowed 50 minute sessions, so all the guys who seem to be working out in groups and chatting when the others were using equipment , were focusing on getting through their programmes

7k this morning in another very remote part of Ireland. Didn’t meet anyone I know this time. Probably just as well. In the last spot we stayed in another family we knew turned up and we ended up drinking way too many bottles of wine together and I missed my running for a few days.

Was running up and down gravel mountain paths today. I had to walk some of them because I was worried about falling. Very different.

52.03 miles walked in the last 2 weeks!

Slowly plodding away at my target, it's going to be tough to make it this year but I'm going to do my best!

999.47/1000.53

Ahhhh nearly half way!!!

TriSkiRun99 · 26/08/2020 12:19

amy that’s a great achievement especially with going back to work and all the disruptions this year.

amysaurus87 · 26/08/2020 16:23

Thanks @TriSkiRun99

I really need to increase my walking...the drop in my mile count combined with lockdown has not been kind to my (quickly expanding) waistline!

I am determined to get to 2000 miles by the end of the year!

Inniu · 28/08/2020 08:46

6.5k yesterday evening. One of those runs where I totally was not in the mood to go out but ended up enjoying it.

I prefer running in wet miserable weather so I had that.

We got up early this morning, having noted the weather forecast and also with a view to parking on a bank holiday weekend. DH was up at about 6am to bake fresh pittas from dough he'd made yesterday.

10.3 km, lovely sunshine, heather starting to bloom on the moors. He's gone back to bed.Grin

I need to get back into the daily walk habit, it went to pot between the dog's surgery and iffy weather. The dog is much better now, still just doing short local walks but happy enough to be left.

Hi all! Great to see your updates :)

I'm relieved to be injury free a lot quicker than anticipated and I've been doing well, considering a long running break in July:

667.4 Running
1654.7 Walking

I'm back on track for 1000km running and 2000km walking this year, thank goodness!

TriSkiRun99 · 31/08/2020 14:25

Stunningly beautiful morning in Cornwall on hols so I got an early run along the coastal path not a long one as I had to get back. Followed by a cold but blue sky sea swim before lunch. Updating totals for a couple of other swims & short ride in the week. I had planned a 10k in the week but had to quickly change plans as I was getting ready to run, for a hospital dash with elderly parent which was super stressful but thankfully they are recovering now.

Running 359km
Cycling 655km
Swimming 29.2km

Inniu · 31/08/2020 18:01

Triskirun99 glad your parent is recovering.

6k yesterday.

5.9 local walk. It's never worth trying to go anywhere on a bank holiday. As the rest of my team are in the US I usually take Labour day off instead.Grin

18.02 miles of walking done this week. Nowhere near my best!

1017.49/982.51

Officially over half way! I've worked out I'm going to need to walk 60 miles a week now to meet my target ....

Inniu · 02/09/2020 10:36

A very wet 7k including a bit of wading through muddy water where the river broke its banks. I definitely wasn’t setting any PBs today.
I do prefer running 🏃‍♀️ in heavy rain to running in the heat though.

Back from Cornwall where I swam in the sea every day and did yoga every morning. it released my super tense neck and restored my zen for a few days. Smile

Running 359km
Cycling 655km
Swimming 30.5km

ErrolTheDragon · 04/09/2020 08:29

That sounds lovely.

I've been having neck tension - my Pilates teacher noticed (over zoom!) and told me how to use a couple of tennis balls as 'trigger balls' to release it. Basically lie on them, one either side of the spine at the tops of my shoulder blades - it hurts, but stay till it starts to ease then move them a bit. I was sceptical so didn't do it for long but it worked.
