New thread all Smile

plink I love the circuit workouts but they always fool me into thinking they are going to be easy but they hurt!! Shoulder intervals are definitely the easiest of them all and there for my favourites Grin

Polysaccharides 🙈 god, boast from my A Level biology past there Haha. Yeah I cant cut carbs. Never will. I need them in my life 😂 I'm happy with my complex carbs. But refined sugar is the one. I will slowly make my steps towards it (now is really not the time). The research is purely on refined sugars and simple carbs.

It'll always be whole fruit for me. I have yet to love raspberries and dark berries like I do bananas. I do absolutely love blueberries though, could eat them for days.

I'd only heard of carrageenan the other day and then suddenly it was in 2 of the items in my fridge!! They went in the bin actually one of them I ate and then I didnt buy it again

Hey Lostara how have your workouts been this week? God their Raspberry and Vanilla Diet Whey Impact Protein was delicious!! Before I had Strawberries and Cream but the Vanilla and Raspberry knocked it right out of the park! I'm tempted to try the Caffe Latte flavour next 😋 I actually looked forward to my shakes with them. Can't believe I went to someone else - if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Plink re sugar, I found it easier mentally to tell myself I would have a month without it and would eat it after again if i wanted but to give it a month as a proper trial. That way I knew there was an end if I found it too hard so it was achievable but it was long enough to feel the benefits. I also avoid white carbs (apart from potatoes, I can’t live without those!) apart from when I was pg and I couldn’t cope with whole grain. I find having snacks etc ready to hand helps so I have stuff to eat at hand so I wasn’t tempted to sneak anything. Nuts are good. Sugar I can live without, carbs I can’t. Lots of ‘healthy’ nut/energy bars have rice bran syrup etc added to it but naked bars are just dried fruit and nuts. They do a cocoa bar which has a chocolate type flavour but it’s really sickly sweet from the dried fruit but good for one bite of to get w chocolate like fix if you’re desperate. Still sugary from dried fruit but if you just have a bit....depending on where you’re drawing the line.

Just checking in from my holidays Smile things got a but hectic before we left so I couldn't post!

Me and DH just managed to finish the round of LIIFT which was our aim...touch and go with DH doing the last workout the evening before we left!

Got nowhere near my target weight for holidayamd therefore couldn't bring the skirt Sad but I've only got myself to blame as my willpower deserted me in the last couple of weeks.

So, I'm enjoying eating and drinking whatever I fancy and then will bite the bullet when I get back and get on the scales Confused

The aim is to be at target weight by Christmas which will be approx 2 stone. Going to do a Liift and CDF hybrid when we get back - supposed to be 4 weeks but it is 6 x workouts a week which we will not fit in so just going to do it in order as often as we can.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine I believe has hit the UK...bugger to workout in those temps so well done to any of you that are managing it!

Will catch up properly when I'm home.

Thermo did you have a good holiday? That skirt will fit at some point, don’t give up hope! We have a similar target of 2 stone now and my aim is 1 stone by Christmas. Whether I’ll do it or not given I’m having to rehabilitate myself completely I’m not sure but have to aim for something! Also my sister is getting married next summer and in an ideal world would be back in pre pregnancy size for then. Or at least closer to itthan I am now. But fitness is main aim atm.

Got myself a postnatal Pilates dvd yesterday which looks similarly set up to the Jessica Ennis programme but less glossy and a huge amount cheaper. Currently doing a ten minute abs/pelvic floor rehabilitation intro hopefully every day as my intro back to proper exercise. Starting to manage walking small amounts nd hoping to get dh to bring the bike and turbo in at the week end to start on gentle ten minute cycling and slowly build up speed and intensity. I have a plan!

Watch out for the heat, it’s far too hot to exercise! I’ve ordeed a portable air con unit arriving today and decided it would also be useful for when I workout to keep cool :)

Did day 5 of insanity today ( pure cardio) and I think it was the first time that exercising has made me nearly throw up! I think it's the heat... Don't get me wrong, I take breaks all the time and just do what I can, but I still feel like I'm pushing myself!
Reastie, well done on your plan, sounds like a sensible way to start! Good luck!

Report
Reastie · 24/07/2019 16:41

Lostara pure cardio was my favourite insanity workout! You learn to love it! I’ve never done it without taking breaks but I always felt proud when I could make it to when Shaun t tells you to take a break when you need one rather than having to pause earlier! Just remember even the super fit ones on the dvd need to break! I modified some moves too but it always felt hard. The kind of workout where you feel like you’re going to die during it but feel high as anything afterwards! But it’s too darn hot for working out today so brownie points for managing it.

Did my ten minute Pilates workout today. Pe,vic floor feels completely shot! But at least I can feel something which I couldn’t to start, it was like I was clenching and there was nothing there to clench!

Annoyingly air con delivery didn’t come despite paying a lot for it to come today so have cancelled order as they decided they couldn’t deliver it until Friday, by which time it’ll be too late. So annoyed as it’s so damn hot. I feel sorry for dh as he works outside in the sun all day in a physical job and came back looking positively wilted.

Have a lovely hol Roman!

Well done on insanity lostara. I’ve not done it for ages. All the jumping made my feet hurt. It also made me super fit! I did it on one hot summer and this weather reminds me of it. I remember being light headed after each workout as I was so hot. Pure cardio is a beast though. I reached peak fitness when I could get all the way through with no breaks. I can’t see me doing that now though!

On protein powder the one I like is bulk powdered vanilla flavour. It has a good proportion of protein and not too much rubbish in it.

Amazingly I have worked out all this week (with a fan pointing at me). Today was a bit hot though. It was upper though so not too sweaty. I didn’t really give it my all though. Smile

14 very wet cold miles run today. Weather was awful. Was supposed to be 20miles but got very cold and I took a short cut to get back sooner. Annoyingly just as I got close to home the rain eased off a bit but I was tempted to get in and warm by that point.

Report
LostaraYil · 29/07/2019 23:14

Well done for running in the rain, purple! The cooler weather has been a bit of a relief, I can almost get through the insanity warm-up without a break now! I do feel fitter already, but I still feel like I need to tan my flab a bit before going on holiday because there just isn't enough time to really firm it up... I did walk past a builder the other day wearing some short shorts and heard a whistle, but I think he was just whistling to himself! 🤣

Report
Reastie · 30/07/2019 07:31

Lostara 😂 to whistling to himself, bet you’re looking fab. Well done on getting through the warm up with no break, I remember being really proud when I managed that! The warm up itself is really no joke and not as gentle as the name suggests!

Touchwood continuing to slowly lose weight despite now being nearly 7 weeks pp, which considering with dd I continued putting on weight bfing I’m counting that as a big win. Currently 23lbs down from when pg (5 lbs of which in last 3 weeks) and 24 lbs to go to pre preg weight and about 8lbs to get out of being in the overweight category. Still a long way but hopefully going in the right direction. Doing my pelvic floor/abs constructions every day. Went fir a walk on Sunday but had to turn back so quickly because wound was really hurting. Got bike indoors but dh set it up wrong so once it’s reset will try slowly building that up.

Oh, and Ds diagnosed with tongue tie and had it snipped yesterday so we’ll see if that helps constant feeding giving me the exhaustion.

Purple imo 14 miles is still a great distance and a lot better than sitting on the sofa. Especially given you braved such awful weather, truly a feat to be congratulated.

Purple that's a great run and Reastie is right - better than nothing! Well done for getting workouts done in the heat, I couldn't face it and waited til the evening for some of mine.

Roman hope you had a lovely holiday. The skirt can continue to be a motivator- next holiday for sure!!

Reastie that's great news re: weight loss. I focused on 1lb - 2lb a week and I was happy with that. Obvs wasn't as fast as I wanted but to see it continue going down was very motivating!
Aw poor little lamb, hopefully the cut has settled it then and you'll get a bit of down time between feeds.

Lostara well done on Pure Cardio!! I remember that was the one I hated most because it was just relentless. Much swearing at Shaun T Angry . It's incredibly motivating when you can feel the progress you make, even if its taking one break instead of three. Keep it up, you're doing brilliantly!!

Did Week6 Shoulders yesterday. Glad to get back to it as I'd had quite a few days off - wedding reception on thurs and a bit of an explore on Friday. Saturday was a friend's BBQ and Sunday was a chill out day.
Proper pleased that at the BBQ I selected some decent food - boiled eggs, hummus, chicken thighs and crudites (with a couple of cheese and pineapple sticks thrown in). 1 cider and that was it. I spent most of the time chasing after DS trying to make sure he didn't escape down the driveway or steal people's beer and food Grin

Anyway, legs tonight I hope. Then onto the shred phase - looking forward to it and dreading it at the same time Grin

Sounds like good news re the tongue tie being sorted reastie. Fingers crossed that helps the feeding calm down a bit which hopefully will give you more energy. 23lbs off since birth sounds like a lot so I hope you’re pleased. I think it is easier second time around as you know what to expect. I aimed for 1-2lb per week too.

Plink - don’t dread the shred weeks. They’re the best! All that HIIT is fab.

In the end I felt a bit crap about not doing my full 20miles so I did 8miles the following day as a back to back. First few miles were a bit hard but after that all fine. Am out of my routine at the mo so giving some random workouts a go. Did Shaun t transform today. Had to use a stair to do it on as no step so that was tricky but I did my best. Not sure whether I liked it - lots of money spent on the production - maybe needed a bit more on the actual workout. Might try one more tomorrow in case I am being too hasty. I did the 10min abs too - that is Shaun t’s strength - he does an awesome ab workout. It was ridiculous.

Have a good evening all

So first time on the exercise bike today. Good grief it felt like I was trying to cycle through treacle up a hill after my body being woken up at 2am. Shocking. I only did 7 minutes! I could have done more but figure the sensible thing is to do bit more every day and build up. Tomorrow maybe 10 minutes and in a week or so maybe half an hour then I can try loos spin again. It’s amazing how weak my body is. This time last year I couod just turn on insanity and do most of it with minimal breaks.

Purple well done on adding tomthe run. Interesting about the Shaun t workout. Ivenever found his workouts as good as insanity personally. Insanity asylum was good (but too hard for me!) but he was too mean to be motivating. Maybe the step thing was to introduce some equipment to get more sales of stuff for bb.

Plink hope legs wasn’t too hard.

Hope the wound is feeling better now reastie. Probably a good signal for a rest for a few days. It is frustrating, I know, but still early days. I didn’t do any cardio until 8 wks and it was horrific. I was totally exhausted after 2mins, so 7mins on bike sounds good to me.

Did another transform 20 yesterday and I think I quite like it. It certainly tired me out. My legs were sore the next day. No way I’m buying a step though so that limits my ability to do the moves. Most seem to work ok on a stair though. Did power strength extreme from 21dfx tonight which felt hard. I’m sure it didn’t in the past. Gorilla walks are evil. As are supine crawls.

Hi everyone Smile I got back from my holidays yesterday, just weighed myself and I've put on 7lbs Confused I'm taking that as a win though for 2 weeks all inclusive and no exercise Grin

Did the LIIFT sample workout last night to break ourselves back in and am trying to plan a LIIFT/CDF hybrid but I am struggling as all I seem to get to is the LIIFT schedule with a CDF workout thrown in as I want to work all the muscle groups each week Hmm

Going to catch up on all the posts now Smile

Reastie, hope your wound is better and the feeding is going well! I would hate to not be able to work out for 7 weeks, to be honest even though I had a normal birth and no problems I hated the initial baby stage with constant sitting down breastfeeding and going for walks really helped.

Purple I'm glad to hear you like transform 20, I'm thinking when I go back to work after the summer I will get BBOD and try it, or maybe morning meltdown. I will need something slightly shorter than insanity.

Roman, 7lbs is not bad, I'm sure it will come off quickly! I'm going on holiday on Tuesday and will take a break from the workouts but hopefully stick to lowish carb and do lots of swimming to limit the weight gain...

It was my rest day from insanity yesterday, which was fab, but I have woken up today with a horrible stiff neck and am dreading today's workout... I will give it a go but probably have to limit bouncing and moving my arms!

Purple I hate HIIT whilst I'm doing it. Love the buzz after though so I'll focus on that Grin god yes, his ab stuff is killer. Always feels amazing when you can complete it.

Oh no Reastie ! How is it feeling now! Just not ready for that yet. Take it easy my lovely (god, you must be sick of hearing that Grin ). I remember that treacle feeling too but take comfort in that your body still remembers, muscle memory and all that, it'll get back in shape quicker than you think when it's ready to.

Yay Roman 7lbs is very good! I got that from a week all inclusive 🙈 so you've done well. Was it nice and hot? Did you sunbathe on the beach all day? And sip copious amounts of alcohol? goes off in a daydream about going abroad

Lostara gah the soreness. I remember that. Take it easy for sure. Modify if needed. But it'll all eventually go, all those aches and pains will eventually disappear once your body gets used to it again. Slightly envious of your Insanity workouts, I miss them terribly. Damn knees Grin

yum where you to? Hope you're doing okay?

plink yes, it was hot, I spent pretty much every day sunbathing/in the pool (as my friend describes it, our holidays are pretty much a 'fly and flop' holiday!) I did take my gym stuff and it came back unused BlushBlush

Alcohol...I was pretty good as I am not a big drinker anyway. I never drank during the day and had a couple of glasses of wine and a couple of cocktails each evening.

Back on Team RH now to get to target weight by Christmas...

Welcome back roman! I’m glad you had a good time. We never have fly and flop hols so I’m a little envious. What do your kids do - kids club?

Hope the soreness has gone lostara although from my experience of insanity I was sore the whole time Shock. I’m envious of you doing it too. I might give it a go again although I found the mth 2 hour long workouts hard to fit in.

Reastie - hope your scar is feeling less sore.

I did a lovely 20miles yesterday - we’re on hols so it was in a new place which is always nice. Mostly was along the seashore and was very pretty. Then 4 miles this am to practice running on tired legs. My legs felt pretty good and I was quite fast. I made the mistake of looking at the training plan the race organisers recommend. It said I should do a 20mile run midweek then 30miles on sat, followed by 10miles on Sunday!!!ShockShock yikes. Let’s hope that’s not necessary.....

purple the kids do a mix of kids club/playing in the pool/lounging on sun loungers. DC1 is a teenager so they spent most days with friends they made. The hotel had a fantastic kids club with 90 minute themed activity sessions from 12pm onwards so there was loads of choice and I'm lucky that my 2 DC actually enjoy kids clubs!

Did CDF dynamic strength yesterday...wow! It doesn't look too hard (no weights or cardio - just body weight exercises) but it was tough!

Gah, did a post a few days ago and it got lost so I gave up.

Purple that run sounds lovely along the coast, be careful not to overdo it. 30 miles?!

Thermo your holiday sounds so relaxing. I’ve never been in a fly and flop holiday either. I love the idea but I’m rubbish at managing to relax and do nothing, I get too itchy to be busy.

Plink how are you?

Lostara how’s insanity going? My best bit was alwYs collapsing in a sweaty mess on the floor at the end! I hate it when I’m doing it but feel incredible after.

Great news- I’ve signed back up to lmod and did 15 mins rpm today. It felt like having the best night out with an old friend. I know that sounds weird but I also know you guys get me. It’s been since October I’ve last done an actual workout and I’ve been so desperate! I was singing along with the songs and so excited to get in the red hr zone and be dripping in sweat. I feel fantastic now. I fear I pushed it a bit too much 8 weeks post section tomorrow) as wound started really hurting so had to stop, but fir that time I was in the moment and enjoying life. I just hope nothing lasting to wound as that a few times a week building up will do me no end of good. Still losing about a pound a week atm, 24 lbs to do. Ds has injections tomorrow so everything could go pear shaped...

Spin yesterday again (16 mins but with a break in the middle where Ds cried and needed feeding). Today I tried bodyattack express at only 16 minutes. Loved it! Modified a lot and by gum I need a sports bra desperately! Lower back now really hurting though so must’ve done something. Hope it remedies itself quickly.

I’m glad you’re feeling up to working out reastie. I remember the workouts I did when ds was small where I stopped multiple times to feed him. Your ds is a bit small still but when I did my workouts I used to put him in the bouncy chair and he’d watch me. We could never do anything longer than 25mins! Do be careful with anything too high impact because of your tummy muscles

I’ve had 3 days off Shock my legs felt really tired and stiff and so I just felt like I needed it. Did a transform20 today which I enjoyed and loads of stretching so I hope I’m over the worst of it.
