New thread all Smile

plink I love the circuit workouts but they always fool me into thinking they are going to be easy but they hurt!! Shoulder intervals are definitely the easiest of them all and there for my favourites Grin

Hello!
Which is the body combat you did poppy? Is it a free one? Lockdown is making me want to try lots of random workouts Grin but nothing longer than 45mins.
Run tonight - I did intervals again and it was just as hard but I think I must have been faster as I was out for the same time but ran further (not by much though). Saw a lot fewer people out too which was good. It is a real treat for me being able to run in the week - DH would normally be at work or I’d be commuting home at that time.

yumyumpoppycat · 15/04/2020 12:02

Purple no it wasn't in the free section unfortunately, but there are a few free body combat workouts that are approx 30 mins so I will try one of those on fri and report back - unless there is one you want to try and I will do that?

I did the intro to body step 35 min workout today, it was good for learning form and unusually for an intro workout I got sweaty, but my knees are really crunchy sounding so I might hold off until I lose a bit of weight.

Really need to get to the bottom of why I am crap at lunges. Back taking vitamin d as my periods have stopped but so far it's not working. Don't feel like I am menopausal. Maybe sitting in the sun would be good if I can bring myself to wear a vest top!

Have a lovely day all

Reastie · 15/04/2020 14:03

Yummy thank you, that makes me feel better, because the body combat remix I did was a cardio one that was about 50 minutes long and after about 20 I had had enough but forced my way through. I’ve never done any of thr LMOD intro videos Blush maybe I should! I like body step, it’s tough on the legs I find though. I prefer more of a routine heavy step workout and this is very repetitive. Weirdly I’m also rubbish at lunges, squats are fine but lunges are difficult and I hate with a passion those lunges where you have one foot on a chair or step behind you and the front leg on the floor. Absolutely kills my legs/glutes. Weird your periods have stopped, you’re not pg?! I didn’t even think about them being on a green screen. I don’t think they are in the body balance one as when they are at the top of the mountain the lighting looks so natural. They might add in the relaxing water noises though! Love Jackie mills, she’s fantastic. Haven’t seen the body combat where they nearly fall off a mountain Grin but have done the body attack on top of a skyscraper. I thought that was really there as the lighting changes on the tracks as if the day is moving on. Weird how so little traffic etc though. I wonder if they did it really super early or late.

Purple runs sound great. We’re having great running weather atm. I hate intervals but they’re v effective.

I wonder how @PlinkPlink is. It must be a worrying time getting ready to have a baby in the middle of all this.

PlinkPlink · 15/04/2020 14:55

Hello hello everyone!!

Look at you all, loving the workouts 🤩

Oh Roman I'm so envious, the 10 rounds stuff looks so awesome! I can't wait to get stuck into that when I can!!

I think everyone is going to put on a bit of weight during lockdown. Its inevitable. Theres only so much working out and walking around your own house you can do 😂

I hope you're all keeping well though? It's a horrendous thing. But there are some great things that will come out of this. My mum is actually returning to the NHS to go and help. She'll be on the trauma wards. Whilst I'm concerned about her, she's a nurse and always will be and she'll always feel that calling to help.

Things have not been plain sailing here. I discussed having a home birth with a MW (who was male) and he said basically, they dont know if I can do it or not. They dont know if theyll have the staff to cover it. Or if it will even be an option. So I was pretty upset about that. It's not set in stone so it might change towards the end.

I had another diabetes test which came back negative (yay!) but they did find I have an iron deficiency. So tablets for me.

It's a pretty scary time to be pregnant. To be honest, I really want to avoid the hospital at all costs and have my little girl at home. I want to crawl into my own bed at the end of all that hard work. I want to just live in our little bubble and not faff about car seats, driving to hospital or driving home. I just want to be here. See what happens. I may be lucky 🤞🤞🤞 she is happy and healthy and that is the main thing.

Purpleraindeer · 16/04/2020 11:13

Hi plink! How far along are you? It must be a very worrying time to be pregnant. I hope you do get the birth you want - as you say who knows what it might be like in a few months time. Lots of places are still doing home births. Well done to your mum. We are lucky to have such dedicated nurses

Reastie/poppy - I wonder if the difficulty with lunges is stability in your hips and knees? I remember years ago when I was running and had knee pain it was a muscle imbalance and I could not do lunges without wobbling over. Those ones where your back leg is up are even more intense so it’s no wonder you don’t enjoy those ones.

I was a bit pushed for time last night and didn’t want to spend it faffing trying to decide on a new workout so did p90x3 MMX which is the combat style one. I was so stiff in my hips and all the twisting made me feel like the tin man in need of some oil! I’m sure it did me some good though. Rest day today. Im not sure rest days are a good thing though - I’m so sedentary now anyway I think I don’t need any more reasons just to sit around. If I feel keen I might do some yoga or something just to keep from seizing up!

yumyumpoppycat · 16/04/2020 17:11

Plink brilliant to hear from you! Your mum sounds like an amazing person Thanks def fingers crossed for your home birth - how long until your due date?

Purple lol re tin man analogy. That's an interesting thought about lunges I will look into it.

I just did a 16 min yoga/body balance today and went for a walk. Will do one of the free body combats tomorrow.

Reastie I totally agree with you about Jackie mills - really inspiring and she seems quite natural and to genuinely enjoy what she does.

Theromanempire · 17/04/2020 19:07

Hi all

Plink how long have you got left to go? It must be really worrying and difficult to just enjoy being pregnant. You just need to concentrate on the end game and not about what is between now and then Smile Your mum sounds awesome - I so admire those that are putting themselves back into the workplace as it would be so easy to just stay at home.

I'm sure the combat wasn't a green screen - I would be very disappointed if it was Hmm

Speaking of working out in strange places/conditions, the second week of 10 Rounds is from Las Vegas but they have chosen to film it on the roof of a hotel which is 50+ floors high and at night so the cast are wrapped up in tracksuit pants/hoodys/scarfs and all look absolutely freezing!! It is quite disconcerting when you are used to seeing Beachbody casts wearing as little as possible Wink Still loving it but I fear my eating habits are preventing any progress in the slimming down attempts Blush Lock down is bad for the diet...I am comfort eating constantly. On the plus side, as it looks like a holiday abroad is not going to happen this summer, I don't need a beach body Grin

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 18/04/2020 14:38

Roman you are making me want to sign up to bb when my lmod year runs out! Bb out in the wild with coats on - we are def more used to them in the studio environment!

I am also really struggling with diet - I want to clean up my act but chocolate is too hard to resist 😫

I did body combat 78 which I think equates to body combat free workout 11 - I felt a bit daft doing panther move but otherwise loved it.

Have a great weekend all

Purpleraindeer · 18/04/2020 15:58

Hi everyone. I did max30sweat intervals last night for old times sake. I really enjoyed it and it helped me deal with a bit of adrenaline from a stressful day. Not sure what the plan is for today. I’m a bit stiff from yesterday Shock. I am finding my back feels really tight a lot of the time. I think this is working at home as I definitely sit more and get up less, even the fact that in an office it is a bit of a walk to the loo makes a difference I swear. Sometimes the step counter on my phone only says 150m for the whole dayShockShock

yumyumpoppycat · 18/04/2020 18:53

Purple do you think its anything to do with the chair and or table you are using? Are there any back rests at work you could borrow? Maybe something you could put under your feet? A lady at my work causes a lot of raised eyebrows because she works out at her desk in the open plan office Grinbut maybe there is something in it and a bit of weights or stepping while standing up and reading emails? I get back ache working from home sometimes when working intensely.

Reastie · 19/04/2020 14:40

Purple have you got a gym ball you can sit on to work (so long as you don’t bounce through video conferences 😂)? I’ve set dd up with mine to do her school work on because it’s suppose to be good on the back and core to sit on them. I’m getting a lot of lower back pain and it’s due to my position sitting on the sofa under a sleeping baby every day. Trying to change cushion composition and got a foot rest now too but it’s not cured it. Maybe I need a new sofa 🤣.

Plink glad you’re ok, it must be a scary time, and I hope you get your home birth. I’m trying really hard to think of the serenity prayer. I’m not religious but I think it has such a useful message to focus on

grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
courage to change the things I can,
and wisdom to know the difference.

Works with exercise too in that as much as I try I’ll always have, for example, a flabby stomach because of excess skin. I’ll never look like a teenage model 😁. I can’t change this but I can accept it, and I can change my fitness level to be as strong and fit as I can in the time I have for exercise.

Thermo that’s so funny they’re all freezing! I bet it doesn’t look as good from a form POV too as you can’t see their body so easily for copying good form (?).

I agree lockdown is rubbish fir the diet. Even with home workouts and daily time out for exercise, unless you live in a mega big house steps will likely be less than normal and dd and I are constantly grazing or fighting hunger from boredom. I predict a lot of weigh gain and loss of stamina at the end of this (as well as ptsd and mental health issues, but that’s another matter).

Did body pump remix this morning. Still using warm up weight throughout and adjusting because of elbow but my goodness even so it feels hard! At one point I started seeing stars and had to stop and I went a bit weird at the end so had to skip shoulders. Think I’m just not used to toning stuff as much and it makes me a bit shaky, but I love the string feeling afterwards. Hate a lot of it when I’m doing it though! Nice to see glen and a couple of others from the LMOD spin on body pump and, even more excitedly, saw mr I heart NZ in the audience, don’t know why but he makes my day when I spot him! Run yesterday. Nothing huge or dramatically fast because I was feeling a bit down about everything going on so I used it as more of a mental health exercise just enjoying a change of scene and seeing different things. It’s the only time I leave the house all week. Come Wednesday/Thursday I’m itching again to get out for a run and by Saturday morning I’m chomping at the bit to get out and have a run! It does so much for me mentally as well as physically and is what’s getting me through atm. I only wish dh was around in the day or my mum could help so I could do 2 or 3 a week, but obv things aren’t easy atm and that won’t happen.

PlinkPlink · 20/04/2020 10:23

I'm 31 weeks now so really not long at all. We shall see what happens.
Oh yeah, mum will always be a nurse. No matter where she goes or what else she does, she will always be that kind of person that cares for others. She's got a Skype interview soon so she'll find out then where she will definitely be placed.

Purple, have you got a different kind of chair at work. My work ordered a special back supportive chair for me as when I got pg first time round, I had to spend all of my time in the office as opposed to the warehouse. Do you have a good chair at home? That may make a big difference.
Can you maybe go out for a walk around the neighbourhood at lunch time too? That'll get your steps up plus fresh air and a break.

Yum, my due date is 23rd June 🤩 I love a bit of yoga. I've been meaning to do it for weeks now myself. Brilliant for clearing my mind a bit. Always feels like I'm giving my body a nice stretchy treat when I do it Grin Haha yum... I have 3 bars of galaxy chocolate in my fridge that I consider essential to surviving this whole thing. Try not to be too hard on yourself re: diet.

Roman, I feel the same. My mum though, she doesnt cope well when shes sat at home without work. Her mind needs to be kept busy. She's always been like it. Consequently, when she has had periods of unemployment her mental health has really suffered. Whilst I worry about her going into that situation as it is now, I know it will be such a good thing for her. She'll be doing something she truly has a passion for. Cant wait to see that 10 rounds workout on the roof Grin

Oh Reastie, that's lovely. Thank you for putting that up. I burst out into tears after my MW appointment (hormones mainly responsible) but I've tried to do what that prayer says. Plan for what I can and accept what I cant change (and maybe store those choices away for a possible baby no.3 😂). Oh no does Mr Reastie have to go out to work?

Purpleraindeer · 21/04/2020 20:43

31 weeks plink! Wow. Are you feeling big or ok still? A lot could change in that time, so don’t assume the worst yet.

I feel the same on the running reastie - it as much about the niceness of being outside as the run itself. I didn’t feel like a long one this weekend so I did 6miles quite slowly and it was just great to be out on a sunny morning. Max30 cardio challenge tonight which I enjoyed a lot. It makes the balls of my feet hurt from the jumping so safe to say my shoes probably have worn out.

Have a good evening all!

yumyumpoppycat · 21/04/2020 21:02

Well done on max 30 and run purple - this must be pretty much perfect running weather and the trees are gorgeous at mo with blossom.

Plink ooh the home stretch - it's close but still quite far! I wonder if lockdown might have eased up by then?!

Body combat done as it got me to press play which is the main thing!

PlinkPlink · 21/04/2020 21:59

I feel like a zeppelin balloon 😂 I'm just getting to that stage of tiredness and not being able to move alot. If I want to get off the bed or the sofa, I do a very good impression of a tortoise on it's back.

Well, I reckon there'll be another 3 weeks after this lot. Thatll complete the standard 12/13 weeks to realistically get the curve down and prevent a second sharp spike of cases. That should take it to a couple of weeks before due date so... here's hoping.

Max 30 sounds so good. Is that the one with the training equipment? With the agility ladder and stuff?

Well done on your body combat Yum! Is that a les mills one?

Reastie · 22/04/2020 06:13

Plink looking at things it does seem the figures will be less and they will be slowly lifting lockdown measures by then so hopefully things will be ok for a home birth for you but the uncertainty must be driving you mad. Babyplink will get here one way or another though! Mr reastie has to go out to be able to work unfortunately. It’s relatively low risk what he does, but it’s still a worry and still makes things v difficult at home on my own.

25 min cycle yesterday. Not particularly taxing but was just lovely to have fresh air and a podcast on. I need to get the sun and fresh air more and during the day I’m trapped home and the only way I can get Ds outside is the carrier which kills my back and he’s so heavy! He won’t blinking sit on a rug and just crawls to the dirt etc on the floor to try and eat it 🙄

Yumy well done on combat. I was going to do that on Sunday but went for pump instead.

Purple I still hate the max 30 workouts, which irritates me because I love insanity so much! I just find them so impossible it demotivates me. I know that’s the point, but still.

Purpleraindeer · 22/04/2020 21:20

Well done on body combat poppy. It’s pressing play that counts!

Did max strength tonight. Haven’t done it for a few years I think - was press up torture. Plink - max30 is the 30min version of insanity - the one you’re thinking of is insanity asylum which I’ve never completed. Tried it a few times and each time I got ill so figured it wasn’t for me! Reastie I know what you mean - you know it will be hard so it’s difficult to start it. It is definitely doable If you do it at a slower pace than the cast.

I weighed myself today. It has been a while I’ll admit and I had been thinking I felt a bit wobblier than usual but I seem to have put on 2.5kg!! Shock I’m really hoping part of it is time of the month but omg I’m a bit horrified. Bloody lockdown.

yumyumpoppycat · 23/04/2020 12:03

Reastie I am jealous I would love to cycle in the empty roads now but dh has a real issue with it and seems to think I am nailed on for some kind of accident (he does have some background stuff so I don't push it)

Plink I do remember that having to roll off bed thing Grin I used to be huge too and have people asking if it was twins.

Purple I totally sympathise as my weight is up despite 'being on a diet' (I keep abandoning it!). Dh has suggested not buying any chocolate until half term so hopefully the Easter egg bargains we have been buying will be sold out and stop tempting us. We could all do with this - except skinny ds so I might have to find him something the rest of us don't like.

I had a bit of a fail with les mills as was hoping for weights rather then bar barbell or bands - any suggestions? Did a short body attack in the end. By the way I have only just realised dan is from the uk Confused

Reastie · 23/04/2020 15:04

Yumy Dan and rach are both from U.K. but don’t sound that much like they are!! I do pump but without the barbell, well, I have a barbell but for most tracks I don’t use it because I have to rotate my hands to make it easier on my dodgy elbow (a weird adjustment but it helps). I’m not sure about other workouts with weights, I’ll have a think. Step has one or two weights tracks in them usually. I didn’t cycle the roads because I’m too scared of meeting other cyclists on the route and not being able to distance/them not distancing from me so I went round the garden, which was very bumpy!

Purple try again in a few days and see, I have random days with crazy weights!

I’m now only about 7 lbs from pre preg weight but my shape and size is so so different, I’m much more flabby and less toned. It’s totally true what they say about it’s not all in the scales.

Purpleraindeer · 23/04/2020 20:41

That’s brilliant reastie. The toning will come. You’ve done so well!

I’ve always thought you could substitute hand weights for a bar bell so could you do that poppy?

Had a lovely (warm!) evening run tonight. Intervals again. It felt like bloody hard work after 2x max 30 days. Legs are feeling tired and I need my rest day tomorrow. This spring is so beautiful - the countryside looked lovely - I think the lockdown has made me appreciate it so much more.

Theromanempire · 24/04/2020 17:44

Hi all

yum I did Bodypump with normal dumbbells a few weeks ago - you just need to be a bit creative for some of the moves but it is doable (for example, for the squat track where the barbell is on your shoulders, I just held the dumbbells at the front resting on my shoulders as in Liift4 or just down by my side).

reastie well done on your weight loss - that is a real achievement Smile

purple I know what you mean about getting out and appreciating nature again. The weather has certainly made lockdown so much easier hasn't it? Me and DH went out for a walk last night and ended up finding a whole new world - houses, football pitch, random abandoned road with a huge roundabout in the middle of it (reminds me must google map it as we are intrigued as to what it was) - that is within 5 minutes of our house. We have only lived here for 20+ years Blush

I agree with you all - lockdown is a bloody nightmare for the diet. I comfort eat at the best of times so i have literally no chance at the moment. It is my birthday next week (yay, lockdown birthday Hmm) so takeaway, cake and treats galore so I do feel there is little point in doing anything over the weekend so I am sure I will literally eat my own bodyweight in crap instead Grin

On a more positive note, I totally heart Joel and 10 rounds!! I wish one of you was doing it aswell so we can gush over it together - it is amazing, amazing, amazing!! We are in Dallas this week in a random shopping centre so you occasionally see shoppers in the background looking a bit bemused Grin

Happy weekend all Smile

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 26/04/2020 13:52

Well done Reastie that is fab how smoothly you have got your weight back down. There were parts of me that I thought would never go back after pregnancy and breastfeeding etc but actually they did more than I expected with time (sadly I i have now undone all my hard work!).

Roman you are making me really think I might have to sign up to bb when 10 rounds is on standard site.

Purple I am trying to sit out in my garden with coffee and enjoy nature once a day - it makes a massive difference just being by myself in the peace and quiet

You were all right it was pretty possible to do body pump without a bar even without being shown how to modify. Catch stuff felt a bit weird, and one move where lying down and putting with towards head I think I was a bit off but that's all. My knees creaking really freaked me out though Shock, going to work on form with lunges and squats and use no or light weights next time.

Purpleraindeer · 26/04/2020 15:28

Roman - you would be a very effective beach body coach - you are really selling 10 rounds (but I’m still too tight to pay the vip access Grin)

Glad the dumbbell only workout went ok poppy. I think it’s probably better for you than a bar as you have to work a bit harder to stabilise the weights.

I did max30 tabata power yesterday and then run today. I feel tired now. I have lost quite a bit of long run endurance as I can’t do the long runs I used to (and there is little point really). It was a very pretty run though - all the bluebells are out and it was a lovely spring morning.

I will admit to having a bit of a Sunday afternoon feeling - the weekend has gone very fast despite us not really having done much

Reastie · 26/04/2020 15:29

Yumy which pump did you do? I did remix 1 pop something or other and today I did remix 2 anthems. Really enjoyed it but my legs were really shaking! Felt good to feel strong though! FWIW I have a barbell but only use it for thr warm up, triceps, and back track, I actually prefer to use hand weights for the others and I use no bar or weight for squats and lunges as I find them hard enough as it is!

Re weight, it’s weird because although only about half a stone to go, I’m still a whole dress size larger than I was and visually look very very different than pre Ds in my shape and size. So although not much weight to go, there is a lot of work to go. I’m still blinking hungry all the time though and eating a lot more than I was before I was pg so I feel like I’m the weight I deserve iykwim. Ds still feeding maybe 5 bfs a day still at 10.5momths so I guess still burning calories in that way.

Thermo I love the thought of wandering round a shopping centre and Joel being there filming a workout video!

Purple we’ve been incredibly lucky with the weather so far in lockdown. Can you imagine being stuck in for weeks with terrible weather and not getting outdoors as easily and nowhere to go? It would be a nightmare.

Purpleraindeer · 28/04/2020 13:58

I would have thought that it will be easier to change your shape reastie than it has been to lose the weight, purely because exercise is funner than dieting so I reckon the hardest part is over. I remember being the same after I had my first. I was a lot larger in volume, even when i didn’t weigh much more. I solved that problem by immediately getting pregnant again! I don’t advise it!

After weighing myself every day I’m forced to admit I have put on 2.5kg and it is not just water weight. Sad I did max30 Friday fight in an effort to start the weight reduction. It was a long tough 30mins. Although I think the issue isn’t my exercise, it is grazing from the cupboard, less movement generally and a bit more wine. I have been snacking on ‘healthy’ banana chips. I checked the packet - I may as well have just been eating hobnobs!
