New thread all Smile

plink I love the circuit workouts but they always fool me into thinking they are going to be easy but they hurt!! Shoulder intervals are definitely the easiest of them all and there for my favourites Grin

It’s a lovely day here. I was thinking of trying some new workouts (shock!) and thought the new 6 week programme on BBod looked good. Went on today all excited and found you have to pay for it Sad so am ploughing on with p90x3. Did accelerator today which doesn’t come up much in the programme - was non stop plank moves. Ouch. My shoulders hate me.

I do like the idea of getting a bit buff-er again. I lost all my muscles when I started running more and I think I want them back!

(Don’t worry - not female body builder, just a bit of bicep definition!)

Is less mills free poppy? I might give it a try. I’ve always wanted to but didn’t want to invest in it

yumyumpoppycat · 06/04/2020 10:19

Purple it's really annoying that you have to pay extra for new workouts on bbod, I love the sound of the new workout too. I feel a little sad for Sean t as his workouts are all free!

There are a handful of free workouts to try on les mills but it might be better to try somewhere with access to a full site, although the kids workouts might make it worth downloading for your family. We have it on our fire stick. Dd makes me laugh as she has a favourite cool down on les mills which she chooses instead of a bouncey kids workout.

I was really interested to try an app called fiit as have seen one of their workouts trialled on how to lose weight well and their reviews seem very good but I think it's only 1 week free trial. Peloton had a month free generic workouts not sure if it is still there.

I bet your muscles pop back really quickly when you switch what you are doing because you have still been exercising so much (unlike me - I am gutted I have gained so much - I was looking at an old pic from 2 years ago and you could actually see a little definition in my arms just when standing normally)

Theromanempire · 06/04/2020 20:38

I have bought Joel's new workout...lockdown treat Grin I have been looking forward to it for months! Did first one tonight and loved it...going to really enjoy the next 6 weeks workouts I think!

Did the free Body Attack, Body Pump and Body Combat on Les Mills last week - really enjoyed them so definitely worth a go purple. They have quite a few shorter HIIT workouts on there as well.

Hi roman!
Keep us posted on the new Joel workout. You can be my reviewer!
I went for a run tonight which felt like a real treat. I can’t normally go in the week but because DH is wfh I can now go in the evenings. It was beautiful out. Lockdown has some benefits!

I did an interval session which I never do 6x 3mins hard with 2 min recoveries. I was shattered by the end and I remembered why i haven’t done a run like that in 5yrs! I feel great now though. I’m thinking I might do a max30 tomorrow night. That’s if I can walk up and down stairs tomorrow Shock

Theromanempire · 08/04/2020 13:53

So did Day 2 yesterday which was a lower body lifting workout which was fab aswell - basically you do 50 seconds of one move, have a 10 second rest and repeat the move for 50 seconds then 10 second rest and then repeat for 50 seconds. So, it is actually really challenging doing, for example, 50 seconds of squats x 3 with really small rests in between. I needed to use lighter weights than with LIIFT as I was pretty much doing 20 reps each time as opposed to the 10 reps in Liift. But, it is clearly effective as I have DOMS today in my legs!! Back to boxing tonight!

Well done on the run Purple - I am determined to look on the positives of lockdown and one is the time I am getting to exercise which is normally difficult with the DC's activities in the evenings and work. Yesterday, I did Joel in the morning, then me and DH went out for a walk at tea time and I then did an online Clubbercise class later. In normal life, I would never have the time to do that Smile I am determined to come out of lockdown thinner than when it started!!!

Wow Roman well done on the exercise! It's great that the new Joel came out in time for lock down. I am def using lockdown to try and get back on track with workouts. I had a head cold on mon sneezing etc but I slept loads more than usual and it has passed pretty quickly fingers crossed, i really wanted to get back to it with exercise which is really unusual for me and did a short body combat today it was really fun and I could have kept going!

Your run sounds amazing purple and it's great you can do the intervals to change the challenge. Good luck with max 30 if/when you do it!!

Purpleraindeer · 09/04/2020 21:30

That is a lot of exercise roman. I agree - I feel the same about lockdown and exercise. My problem is the eating - there is just so much more opportunity for it!

Well done on the body combat poppy. Getting ill at the moment is stressful. I have a cold at the moment and every time I sneeze or cough I feel like everyone is looking at me!

Did tabata power tonight and loved it. Max30 is the best! Not sure what I’ll do tomorrow. Maybe a les mills if anyone can recommend a (free) one?

Theromanempire · 09/04/2020 21:55

poppy depends on what type of exercise you want to do. If you like body attack, the free one is really good - fab moves and music. If that isn't your thing, the free Grit workouts are more HIIT type ones - short and brutal Grin

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 10/04/2020 00:12

Purple I don't think I have done the free ones but will have a go so I can compare notes if you try them!

I think Roman is right the workouts are all really different. I can't remember did you like the martial arts type one on p90x3 - if so go for body combat - although the workouts I have done haven't had any burpees or anything like that. Obviously I am flailing around like a loon when I do it but I find it fun 😂

Haven't done grit as it sounds too hard - But I would love to find out what you think of it.

The other workouts I usually go for aren't on the free section but there are lots I haven't tried too.

Body balance done today - I feel a bit more confident each time I do it, although I often end up doing the pregnancy adaptations even though I am not pregnant Blush

By the way you are so right about illness at the moment purple. I am staying in just in case but pretty sure it's a bog standard cold. I DID pick up a flu cold thing with a bad cough on an aeroplane in January and that dragged on for months. A lot of people in England had it though and wonder about it now and I read an article that described it exactly and said it wasn't covid 19 just a nasty virus.

yumyumpoppycat · 10/04/2020 11:33

Went for a walk as we have been at home all week. Went early but still v busy and really hard as dh and I have to hold hands, plus the 3 dc trailing behind like ducklings- wasn't much fun. Did free grit when I got home!!! Only the 12 min one then did body balance short which was hard. My knees were clicking like anything going up the stairs for a shower Blush

Purpleraindeer · 10/04/2020 15:56

So I did the free GRIT one (was an advert for trainers I think?). 30mins. I can’t decide what I thought of it. It certainly fitted the description fast and brutal - it certainly got me working hard. Maybe I’ll try a body attack one next. Was strange hearing Australians. I’m used to Americans shouting at me to work harder!

Am enjoying a nice post workout sit, followed by a bit of work Sad then maybe mowing the lawn. Smile

yumyumpoppycat · 10/04/2020 18:57

Hope you get to switch off from work for the rest of the weekend purple. Lawn is beckoning me too - tomorrow I HAVE to do it. I feel similar about GRIT it was a bit like a cross between max 30 and 22 hard corps in a disco 😆

I couldn't find the free body attack - I love the live body attack classes - best workout ever - but less keen at home as my front room feels a bit small.

Theromanempire · 10/04/2020 19:39

free workouts Here is the link to all the free workouts currently available on LMOD. They don't seem to always come up if you search but there are over 100 here including full length Body Attack and Body Combat. I agree with poppy that Body Attack is truly the best live workouts ever!!

purple I have had to do some work today too - think of probably the most crucial type of organisations at the moment and that is who I work for so although I am not frontline staff, we are providing staff welfare support which clearly does not stop on a bank holiday. But am now sat here with a beer so the day ends well Smile

Also been for my allocated hour of outdoors exercise plus did the Upper body weightlifting workout from 10 Rounds. OMG, cannot tell you how much i love this programme already Smile Smile

Happy Easter all!

Roman you’re well on the way to being super fit by the end of this! Good work. Sounds like you’re a key worker so I hope you enjoyed the clapping on Thursday and get some time off this weekend.

After the positive reviews from you both I’m going to try body attack. Maybe tomorrow, but might need a rest day - did a run today and got distance a bit wrong so was out a bit too long and my legs are tired now. In my defence we live rurally so I only saw 3 people the whole time I was out.

Theromanempire · 12/04/2020 12:41

purple have you done body attack today?

I have finished week 1 of 10 rounds...bloody awesome!

Technically yes I am a key worker but feel a complete fraud taking any credit as I am not on the frontline, have no patient contact and am working from home for the foreseeable future so am actually quite safe and not having to put myself at any risk Blush so I clap along with everyone else for those that are on the frontline.

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 12/04/2020 16:02

Roman it is still probably full on if you are supporting frontline staff's well-being. All quite strange. My sister is a senior level teacher and having to work in school during Easter holidays whereas I would usually work holidays and am working at home. Well done on your first week done!!

I did body attack 105 skyscraper one as it's on the free section - but the 35 min version. Felt like a good cardio workout and longest workout I have done in ages. I modified burpees and did some stiff tricep pushups on my knees . The enthusiasm and music def helps the time to pass quicker somehow - I was glad of the lying down stretch at the end 😁

Happy easter everyone 🌷🐣🌷🐣🌷🐣 @Reastie and @PlinkPlink hope you are well

Reastie · 12/04/2020 16:41

Ahh I lost you on my threads when no one was chatting, so good to see all the gang again Grin .

Loving the Les mills love. It’s my main workout provider now. I’m doing a run every week end and have now got to 5.5k running non stop. It’s been a very slow return to running following the c25k but I’m loving it and feel fantastic afterwards. I only tend to manage 2 or 3 workouts a week still because if Ds being demanding but it’s all better than nothing.

Picked up my bike at last just before lockdown although have only used it in turbo and in the garden (big garden!).

This morning I did a combat remix. First LMOD combat workout as only ever done dan and rach with the bb combat and pump workouts. In the combat ones they seem quite stilted and not that natural but in the lmod ones they were so much better. Really enjoyed it and felt properly exhausted after.

My fitness is still pretty low and I have a lot of work to do but I think doing 2-3 a week is the best I’m going to get for the next couple of years then I can go back to increasing things once little monster (who has just started crawling) goes to nursery.

This virus stuff is really stressing me out. I’m back at work in June and for various virus related reasons even if things are open again by then I’ll likely have no childcare. It’s incredibly stressful so I’m hoping schools will remain closed until summer hols so I can work from home.

Yumy I quite like the ba skyscraper one. I also really like the body balance filmed out in the beautiful scenery of NZ.

Stay safe everyone

Purpleraindeer · 12/04/2020 19:40

Hi reastie! Great to hear from you. Glad you’re ok. Great about the running/biking.

Didn’t manage the les mills today as woke up with really stiff back so thought I’d have a rest day today. Will try body attack sky scraper tomorrow.

I think the thing about this lockdown is that a lot of the people who we now realise are key workers, in previous times we wouldn’t have realised how key they are. If there is one good thing to come from this, we’ll feel a whole lot more appreciative of NHS, teachers, supermarket workers, care workers, social workers, police etc etc. I think my job is a bit like yours roman - not front line, but if i don’t do my job, the front line can’t do theirs. A friend of mine forgot to take her badge off when she went to the supermarket and she got a spontaneous round of applause at the checkout. I thought that was so heartwarming. She nearly died of embarrassment!

Purpleraindeer · 13/04/2020 13:06

Did body attack 105 - could only find the 55min version Shock
I quite enjoyed it but it was just too long for me. I think I prefer more intense but shorter as I was getting a bit fed up by the end. I did enjoy the old school aerobics stuff though - it reminded me of doing step classes in my 20s!
I was also a bit concerned they’d fall of the side of the sky scraper!
Have a good day all

Theromanempire · 13/04/2020 18:08

purple the free Bodycombat workout in the link I posted is worse...at some points, they are very close to the edge of a cliff. One miskick/slip and I had visions of them falling off the edge Confused very scenic but not where I would choose to do bodycombat Grin

OP posts:
Theromanempire · 13/04/2020 18:09

reastie hi, lovely to hear from you Smile glad you are able to get some workouts done, even if it is not as many as you want!

OP posts:
Theromanempire · 13/04/2020 18:11

I would be mortified if I had a round of applause in public Blush I do not feel I qualify for any of the 'perks' for being a key worker such as the special shopping hours/numerous discounts etc - it just feels so wrong when I am not putting myself in danger even though technically I would qualify!

yumyumpoppycat · 14/04/2020 00:57

😂 This conversation is making me wonder if they had to sign a waiver ... I am ok if I die in the making of this home workout. I did a sky dive in New Zealand (20 years ago almost 😮) and had to sign off that I understood I might die and I remember thinking this is proof that I should not be doing this!

Now I am wondering if they were actually on a green screen?? I did some of the body balance on a lake/sea one and until now I thought it was real and what if they fall in ... but maybe they weren't actually on a lake🤔 I tried to do that workout today but wasnt feeling it and switched to a remix short one.

Reastie well done on running that's a really big milestone. Glad to hear you are ok. I would love to have a giant garden like you, esp now, but it must be a pain to cut the grass!!?

Purple well done on long body attack - 40 minutes is my max for home workouts. My arms feel a bit achey today from the push-ups.

yumyumpoppycat · 14/04/2020 10:00

Did body attack 30 min remix - reastie you must be fit as I found it way harder than the ones I have been doing so far - think I need to stick with beginner levels Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 14/04/2020 10:01

Sorry body combat not attack
