New thread all Smile

plink I love the circuit workouts but they always fool me into thinking they are going to be easy but they hurt!! Shoulder intervals are definitely the easiest of them all and there for my favourites Grin

Reastie well done on runs hope your dh is back to normal now ... I casually suggested dh might want to have the snip - it was a big no!

Purple this 100 exercise sounds intriguing- which trainer is it?

Plink well done on liift and yoga that's pretty amazing to do both!

Finally feeling better but still struggle to find time to exercise however we have gone ahead and ordered an indoor bike. Dh will use it too and has been using current cross trainer for 12 years. Excited for it to arrive but might take a while.

Hope you are ok Roman

Reastie · 23/01/2020 09:29

Hi all, dh back to work now so regular workouts are stopped 😭. If only Ds would go in the buggy I could run with him in the buggy, but no, he is a contrary boy.

Struggling hugely with hunger and keep seeming to eat more and more but touch wood still somehow managing to lose weight very very slowly. Down to about 145 lbs now. Yesterday was the day of bottomless hunger where I literally had two breakfasts and two lunches, not good. But Ds has been up ALL NIGHT feedimg this week so maybe I needed it.

Oh, I signed up to a year or LMOD as had 4 months free when you paid upfront. Dd joined me for a BA on Sunday as it was too cold to run [lightweight] but did 2 songs then sat in a heap in the corner needing to recover. We enjoyed high diving each other as we ran in tiny circle around the dining room in the running track Grin .

Yumy has the bike come yet? I thoroughly recommend LMOD for indoor cycling workouts, they are fantastic. They usually have a couple of weeks free trial if you wanted to have a freebie to see.

Purple I always find core workouts some of the hardest. I’ve always had to heavily modify as my core has never been great. It’s amazing how much you can feel it so quickly!

Plink dh was in and out in half an hour. Amazing! Hope you’re doing well and enjoying being able to work out again. When’s the next scan?

yumyumpoppycat · 23/01/2020 20:14

Reastie your ds won't go in the pushchair - that's a real pain can you bribe him with rice cakes. My dd has been doing some really fun dance workout thing on YouTube your dd might like called go noodle blazer Fresh.

I am thinking of signing up to les mills - it keeps coming up on my phone ads! 145 is amazing well done. We have been sugar free (kinda) as a family for a week or so and trying to do it for a month. Only prob is my weight was the same as dh at the start who is almost a foot taller than me, then he lost 4lbs on sugar free and I stayed the same so now weigh more than him 😬😱 no bike yet I need it to arrive!!!!!!!! Will have to get down to yoga if I sign up to les mills.

Reastie · 24/01/2020 09:07

Yumy I think LMOD is fab, so much choice. I think I read when I signed up for a year the current offer with I think 4 months free is only up until end jan. Pretty sure you can sign up to that with 10 day free trial first so might be worth it to try and see? I know gonoodle as at dds school they often do one together before home time or as a reward for good behaviour! Fwiw with your dh losing weight, focus on health and fitness not lbs! Do you feel better for it yet or are you still feeling the withdrawl? Alas can’t bribe ds with snacks as he’s on purées still as can’t work out chewing and has really freaked us out with choking. Maybe in a few months... although running buggy is forward facing so couldn’t go for a run as couldn’t see him eating!

PlinkPlink · 25/01/2020 12:00

Hey everyone!

Ooh yum has the bike arrived yet? Exciting! I second the previous advice on focusing on you and the way you feel rather than pounds shed. Especially when comparing to your DH. Men lose fat quicker than women do. They also hold body fat very differently to what we do and have lower percentages of it. So comparing to DH isn't fair on your progress. You're taking steps towards getting where you want to be and that's already half the battle I think.

Oh Reastie I get you. I really do. DS never slept in pram. Only on very rare occasions. We got a hiking carrier (which we still have and it's awesome). It's an Osprey one and we got it at a discounted price from Go Outdoors (cue adverts now appearing for Go Outdoors Grin ). It's like a bergan (sp?) for your little one. It has a waterproof cover and a sun shade that pops up.
So, I used to take DS out in that when I was trying to encourage him to fall asleep without the boob. It'd take about half an hour to get him to drop off so I was walking for a good hour! And with the added weight of him it really made for a decent walk.

It's not the same as a workout I know but at least it's better than nothing and you can go all sorts of places with him instead of a pram!

Scan is on Monday 3rd so we're very excited for that. Nesting has kicked in! Yaaas!! I never iron and yesterday I got it all out to iron the muslins (something which won't happen once baby arrives Grin ).

I feel like there's so much to do and so little time. Managed some yoga last night but I haven't been working out anywhere near as much as I'd like to. There always seems to be something we need to do 🙈🙈 things to do in the house, making sure I get some decent time with DS, spending time with OH, working out, sending off documents, working online, listening to my Hypnobirthing audiobook, having some me time. Feel like I barely have enough time to wash my hair. God knows what state I'll look like when baby does arrive Grin think I'm going to have to invest rather a large amount in dry shampoo.

Purpleraindeer · 27/01/2020 07:48

Hi all
Well done on the 145 lbs reastie. I bet the bottomless hunger is partly the tiredness talking. Sleepless nights do crazy things to you.

Good you’re feeling better poppy. Well done on sugar free. As others have said try not to compare with your dh. Mine is the same - he loses weight super fast (but also puts it back on super fast). I’m getting sick of vegananuary - so many people are banging on about it. I went to Pizza Hut with the kids (yuk!) at the weekend and it was full of vegan option pizzas - is nowhere safe?? Somehow the more healthy eating is rammed down my throat the less I want to do it!

Plink - glad to hear all is well. You sound very energetic. Or maybe that was just in comparjson to me when I was pregnant and just took to the sofa for 9mths!

I’m still plugging away at 100 day meltdown (with Jericho). I’m not loving it but it will do for now. Some workouts are great (LIT cardio is 20mins and nicely hard but over quickly) others have too much compound weight lifting so you can’t use the right weight (eg combo of biceps and squats). I think LIFT is much better for weights but it is nice doing something different. I’m doing more workouts as they are shorter and easier. This is also good as I can focus on long runs for my hard workouts. Ultra marathon in 4wks. I’ll be glad when it’s over as I’m looking forward to changing my training up again.

Hope you’re all well

Reastie · 29/01/2020 09:25

Did p90x3 lower on Sunday and wow my glutes and legs ached after! Felt good but if it did hurt sitting down and getting up! Feeling down at back to only 2 workouts a week. I want to do more so much!

Purple I love how you idly wonder whether to do an ultra marathon! Only you!!!

yumyumpoppycat · 29/01/2020 19:28

Purple I like the sound of the Jericho workout. Good luck with your marathon training Star

Reastie brilliant you have done a p90 lower! Purple's idea of a baby carrier for a walking workout was a good one maybe? I had a solar weave connecta carrier, it was so light I often couldn't find it in my rucksack, really easy to use - I guess it might put a strain on your shoulder though.

Plink no sign of the bike we have ordered one for £100 less from amazon as it is supposedly back in stock soon🤔 to be honest it's no bad thing as my cold cough thing has relapsed - felt really ill at weekend (don't think fri wine evening helped though!). Might have to get a dr appt if this cough carriers on next week.

Have done the first yoga workout on les mills - found the first half hard but was ok for the rest!

Am trying to take on board all your advice and focus on being healthy but my belly was getting in the way during yoga 😂

Hope your ok Roman

Reastie · 29/01/2020 20:39

Yumy my tummy always gets in the way 😂. Defo healthy lifestyle focus good. How are you doing with food? Body balance is good on laid. It’s like Pilates/yoga/tae chi.

Carrier walking is a good idea. I need to get one of those proper walking back pack things. The baby carrier I have is one of the best you can get for back support and I wear it every day but my back hurts every day and gets worse when I use the carrier so don’t want to use it too much but I guess needs must.

Reastie · 01/02/2020 16:15

Pathetic run this morning. Did warm up walk then within 4 minutes of gentle run my knee totally seized up and was agony. Had to stop and walk. Tried running again but same thing happened to has to turn round nd walk home. Literally looked forward all week to my run so feeling miserable now. Purple have you got any ideas on anything Incan do to help it? It was in the knee and down the inside of my leg below the knee. Never happened before. 1/2 lb on

yumyumpoppycat · 04/02/2020 17:26

Reastie that sounds really sore on your knee, have you tried running since then?

Not much exercise as still got a bloody cough and stuff but some yoga done at least. My bike order is cancelled as they took money with no sign of bike coming back in stock. We nearly ordered a more expensive one as dh started looking into Peleton and this seemed a half way house but we bottled at last minute which is a good thing!! Just going to keep my eyes open for something solid but not mega bucks. At least there is lots of other stuff on les mills. Am also tempted by fiit app.

PlinkPlink · 04/02/2020 18:29

Oh no yum ! What a disaster with the bike!! Bad of them to take your money with no actual bike in sight! Oooh I've seen the ada for those Peloton ones... do you log in with the class online. Like say they broadcast at 9am, do you have to log on for then or is it as and when you want to 🤔

Oh no Reastie that sucks! I think we discussed this a little earlier but are you running on pavement or concrete? May not be the best surface to start on especially if you have dodgy knees.

Not very many workouts here. Still trying to juggle. However, exciting news here. Had our 20 week anomaly scan yesterday. Baby very healthy and behaved perfectly for sonographer. And also happens to be a girl 💗💗💗 yay!! We're so happy!! One of each is going to be amazing!!! Have no idea how to care for baby girls at all but hey, that's part of the fun right? Reastie give me some tips 😂

Hope you're okay Roman and Purple 😊

Reastie · 04/02/2020 18:43

Plink that’s fab news. I have one of each now but in the other order Grin . Fwiw I was completely freaked out by a boy and how would I know how to look after one of those as I’d had a girl, but so far it’s exactly the same except the nappies! I always perceived girls as easier as I was one so can relate iykwim.

So Sunday I did the bb body pump 30 min workout (I meant to do the 45 min one but put the wrong dvd in!) and loved it. Modified the weights and moves for my still dodgy elbow (despite what the specialist says it’s still dodgy!) and pecs and shoulders have ached in a good way since. This morning got a bonus Ba workout, yay! Mum had Ds for half an hour so I snuck in cheeky workout. Knee started feeling questionable so didn’t go all out but feel like I got some of those workout endorphins. It’s amazing how a workout can make you feel good for the rest of the day :) . Next run is at week end and cross fingers madly for me.

Yumy that’s crap about the bike. I’d love a peloton so much. They are so eye wateringly priced though. I’d be so jealous if you got one! What have you been doing on LMOD? I did a ba Remix this morning and it was fab.

yumyumpoppycat · 11/02/2020 17:22

Plink that's lovely news! I have one son and 2 daughters - the girls were so much easier as babies than their older brother but the tables are turning a little bit now at 14, 12 and 9!!

Well done on body pump reastie. I have only done BB so far as put my back out last week Hmm I sound like a broken record!! But I am logging on a food app (one that is better for monitoring nutrients as trying to be mostly meat and dairy free) down another lb and have no illness or aches worth mentioning so fingers crossed!

The peloton app is free on IOS for a month trial. They offer live bike workouts every hour or so and have a big back catalogue or whatever of none live workouts not just bike stuff.

waves to purple and roman on off chance

Reastie · 03/03/2020 10:06

You all escaped from my threads I’m on.

How’s everyone doing? Yumy how’s the back? Plink how’s the baby prep going? Purple, Roman, where are you?!

I’ve nearly finished c25k finally. Only taken me about 6 months 🤣. But I’ve been doing it slower and steadier than I woukd have if I’d done it without the app, which is prob a good thing. Up to running for 28 mins now.

I was thinking the other day what my ideal programme for workouts would be if time/injuries etc were no issue. I decided every week I’d do one run, one spin/cycle or body attack or insanity (on weekly rotation), one pump, one body balance, and one pot luck at random depending on my mood. I’d love that combo!

Did a body balance workout on lmod which was filmed in the mountains of NZ. Only Jackie Mills and Diane doing it together (nice mother daughter combo) but worked so well as the scenery really added to the sense of calm and relaxation. I really enjoyed it. Was a bit weird at first not having it in a studio but now I love it. Also did a recent BA release (usually I just do old ones I know) and it was filmed in Asia and was disappointed not to see Mr ‘I heart NZ’ in the audience. He seems to go all around the world to the filming of them and is at the front every time then misses the one where it’s in his continent. Just wasn’t the same! But then, I may have missed him, or since my more vintage BAs I usually watch maybe he’s lost a shed load of weight and isn’t recognisable (but surely he’d still wear the T-shirt?!).

PlinkPlink · 03/03/2020 10:40

Hey Reastie!!

Definitely tumbleweeds Grin

That's great news on your C25k!! Well done! It doesnt matter how long it took, you've got there. Impressive. I gave up about halfway through when I tried it many years ago not a runner

All good here though workouts still not happening 🙈 I'm already massive at 24 weeks. She's so quiet. She'll give me a couple of nudges throughout the day and then 9.30pm is her kicking warm up. But that's it. So quiet compared to my son. It freaks me out Haha.
Still got some pretty big things to sort tbh - nappies and side car crib. Been cleaning like mad but it's getting harder now to do everything I want to.

I really want to workout. I desperately do. But I'm finding that by the time I finish the day and get downstairs, I'm just so knackered. Any tips, anyone?

Hope everyone is well. Be so nice to hear from you all.

Reastie · 03/03/2020 12:59

Plink, I’d say cleaning all counts to activity!! If it were me I’d schedule exercise in earlier in the day and mentally think of it as non negotiable as eating. You make time to eat and sleep so you make time to exercise. I’m not sure how that would work with mini plink though. If I left it until ‘onc I’ve done x, y and z then I’ll rout tonight if I have time’ I never would! Glad to hear all good. FWIW dd was quite quiet with her movements and never had a pattern to them, it’s hard not to get worried about it but maybe she’ll be laid back and chilled as a baby!

yumyumpoppycat · 19/03/2020 12:45

Hi reastie and plink hope you are both keeping ok at the moment , this virus is really unsettling 😕.

I am luckily able to work from home at the moment. Started work early and have managed to to take a break and just do a half hour les mills body balance at lunch time - felt quite nice and escapism ish to be doing the workout (even though I was totally rubbish)

My weight currently puts me at risk so the challenge now is to avoid eating all the junk food as supermarkets seem to still have lots of that!

Be lovely to hear from Roman and purple and hope you are well.

Any other people now working out from home want to post that would be great too?!

yumyumpoppycat · 28/03/2020 15:58

I haven't done joe wickes and usually work and let them get on with it, but I definitely noticed to much chat on day 1 😂 I love it that he does a workout mon to Friday at 9 as it helps with the structure to the week. Never would have imagined joe wickes would be the cornerstone of our week 🤪

yumyumpoppycat · 28/03/2020 16:00

Sorry wrong thread - dc 1 & 3 are doing joe wickes workouts during kick down

Hope all well if anyone sees this x

Theromanempire · 29/03/2020 13:53

Hi everyone Smile

I hadn't realised I had been away for so long Blush Life got in the way and then the virus and I decided to come away from Mumsnet a few weeks ago as it was really making me anxious to see all the doom merchants on the threads about how the government have f*cked up and how we are going to be in lockdown for 12 months - I appreciate that the world is not in a good place but I don't want to read it constantly!!

But, I thought I would creep back on here for some nice, positive chat Smile

plink hope you are doing ok it must be so unsettling at the moment and not at all how you would have envisaged your pregnancy to be Sad Hopefully that the world may be back to some semblance of normality by the time you are due.

Hope everyone else is doing ok?

One positive to come out of the shitshow is the amount of free workouts that are now available - there are a ton of free ones on LMOD, obviously Joe Wicks, Chris Hemsworth's company have offered 6 weeks free membership, BBOD have released all of Shaun T's workouts for free. Unfortunately, they are holding the line on the launch of 10 Rounds next week so I am going to have to pay for that! I cannot wait - we did the sample one last week and it really does look amazing! It has boxing, weights, cardio and of course Joel which are pretty much my favourite exercise things all combined into one!

Me and DH are just finishing up another round of LIIFT to time perfectly with starting 10 rounds next week. The lockdown has given us so much more time to workout and we are going for our daily walk aswell - plus I am really conscious of what I am eating to try and eek the food out as much as possible so I am hoping my weight will go down (have lost about half a stone in the last few weeks but that was due to extreme stress as all the changes were going on which I found very unsettling but that has settled down now).

Anyway, if anyone is around, would love to start the chat again and I promise not to disappear Grin

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 30/03/2020 13:13

Roman!!! So happy happy to see your post and good to hear all is going ok for you at the moment. I agree it is fab there are lots of free trials but slightly gutted as I have signed up for les mills so feel I should get my monies worth 😆

My weight has gone up as there has been no shortage of chocolate and crisps round here. We have also made a start on the gin dh was given at Christmas. On top of that dds have wanted to bake. I have done more workouts but this has been cancelled out as we have been staying in, it's not so good for walks here and been coughed on by jogging and non jogging men 😷

Having said all that feeling rough after 3 large gins one evening and toothache from too many treats is setting me back on the straight and narrow! Feeling a bit more on it again now.

Did body combat intro 2 - I really like body combat it is fun but probably need to get more body weight stuff in if I want to get fitter.

Purpleraindeer · 02/04/2020 20:21

Hello!!!!!
Should we get the gang back together?!
I’ve been awol for ages. Sorry - there wasn’t much home exercise going on as I was training for my ultra which I did. Was an amazing experience and I loved it. It feels a long time ago but was only a month - a LOT has changed. Shock

So like us all I’m back on home workouts with one run a week. Am doing p90x3 again. But now i discover everything is free maybe I’ll branch out.

I’m definitely putting weight on as I’m still exercising but totally sedentary. It’s shocking how little I move when I work at home. Let’s hope i can still squeeze out of my front door at the end of this!

So nice to see you’re still here. Let’s try to post a bit more to keep each other sane. Or sane-ish Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 03/04/2020 00:30

Yay purple!! Wow congratulations on your ultra that is amazing StarStarStarStar most be so freeing when you go on your weekly run as you could cover so many miles!!

Did body balance which is feeling a teeny bit better plus also a meditation which I had to sit up for at the end as was in serious danger of falling asleep despite dc making a racket in the next room.

Ugh gin and crisps again last night and I literally looked fatter today (technically yesterday as I am up late which is not good either!) but WILL fast tomorrow and get to bed at a decent time😉.

Fingers crossed Reastie and plink find us

yumyumpoppycat · 04/04/2020 14:38

Have found a section for short workout on les mills so I am happy! Sticking with combat and body balance as my plantar fasciitis is niggling but don't want to stop exercising.

Hope you are all well and enjoying the sunshine
