New thread all Smile

plink I love the circuit workouts but they always fool me into thinking they are going to be easy but they hurt!! Shoulder intervals are definitely the easiest of them all and there for my favourites Grin

That’s great news Plink. So glad you’re feeling perkier now. What’s your due date?

I think I’m the only one who has never actually seen the muppets Christmas Carol!

Hope you all had a good Christmas. I ate far too much but I’m not stressing, it’s Christmas, it’s compulsory! Had a run this morning and progressing well with c25k. This morning was 2 x 8 minute runs but after the second one I kept going so did 1 x 8 minute 1 x 13 minute run! Pace is exceptionally slow but I felt I’d found my stead in plodding along for the first time.

Yumy you’ll get back on it. Maybe plan what bb workouts to do to make yourself do it? I’ve been doing LMOD recently but I’m thinking of going back to some old bb dvds. I’m limited on time and my fitness is rubbish so I’m not sure what to try. Maybe piyo or p90x3 (minus pull ups) for some strength to compliment running.

Purple well done on Christmas Day run, that’s seriously impressive. Dh saw someone run on our road on Christmas Day and said ‘wow, there’s a runner out on CHRISTMAS DAY’ in shock! To which I replied ‘lucky them’ Grin

PlinkPlink · 28/12/2019 13:11

Running on Christmas Day? I've never done that before Grin how long have you been doing that for Purple ?

Hope you all had a good one, everyone! Ours was lovely. DS was so excited to open presents. He still doesn't get Father Christmas yet, he just knows that there's presents to open Grin we went to OH's parents for lunch (I brought cauliflower cheese and bread sauce). It was so lovely. Lots of laughter and too much chocolate for DS. We went to my parents yesterday and they was great fun as well. I haven't laughed like that in a long time.

I was pleased that I didnt gorge too much. Previous years have seen me lying in the sofa about to pop. No popping this year.

yum you will get back there. Sometimes we need to.take a mental break from it. At least I find that. Sometimes when I've gotten out of the habit, I look back and realise it's because I've had one hell of a lot that I've been trying to juggle, leaving very little headspace for health and fitness. Sometimes my brain just needs a break from trying to squash everything in all the time. Muppet Christmas Carol is the best, Reastie you must watch it Grin I dont care how old you are. Everyone should see it at least once in their lives Grin COME IN AND KNOW ME BETTER MAN!!! HO HO HO HO!!! Grin

Reastie due date is 23rd June. DS's original due date was 27th (arrived on he 18th) so their birthdays are going to be very close together. Well done on the C25k!! I dont think I ever got that far when I did it years ago. You must feel so chuffed to have done a 13 minute chunk! For limited time stuff... there's T25? After DS, I started doing Tony Hortons 10 minute workouts. Made me feel like I was finally getting something done without the pressure of DS crying for me because it was over so quick.

YuleAreBeingUnREASTIEable · 28/12/2019 14:22

Plink unfortunately t25 caused me a few injuries last time I did it so want to avoid that one. Insanity max I really dislike for just being too impossible (I know that’s the point, but for some reason I love insanity and hate insanity max) and hc22 has a lot of dynamic moves I’m worried about getting the form wrong and causing injury (althiugh may well dip in and out of it). I wonder if I could try pump on LMOD but I’m scared with my dodgy elbow (that still hurts despite supposedly being fine). I bet the squat and lunge tracks would do me good though! I doubt I could do them with no weights atm! My due date was 24 or 25 June for Ds (I forget which, because my memory is totally shot!) so very very close to yours!

PlinkPlink · 30/12/2019 17:35

Oh jeez... avoid that one then. Insanity is achievable though and you can really notice a difference in your results week by week. What about that new Barre stuff they're doing on BBOD? Looks nice and gentle.

Could you maybe get a private scan done on your elbow? Sometimes they're not too bad price wise. Frustrating they couldn't find anything! What kind of movements does it stop you from doing?

June is a great due date to have. Its unbelievably hot but you can get out so easily. I think we went out for a little coffee when DS was 5 days old. Just sat by the seaside (sheltered and cloudy but still warm) and had a lovely coffee with the in-laws.

PlinkPlink · 30/12/2019 17:37

I'm struggling to get started on my workouts guys.

I just feel like theres so much to do and so little time that workouts barely place in my head at the moment. I need to write everything down and get it out of my head.

The last pregnancy it felt like I was going to be pregnant forever and that I'd never give birth. This one though, time is whizzing by and I barely have anything done.

YuleAreBeingUnREASTIEable · 30/12/2019 18:09

Plink whizzing by is good. I wish mine had felt like that! Don’t stress about workouts but at the same time of you want to do them they have to be prioritised or they get forgotten. I have to prioritise making batches of food for me for the freezer and making a salad every day for my lunch or else I would end out eating chips every day!

I don’t think there’s any point to a private scan as I had an nhs referral but it sent me to a private hospital for the scan and consultant (very good nhs service but must’ve cost them a fortune!). It’s been diagnosed as about 4 different things over the years and I don’t think anyone has quite worked out what’s actually going on. It hurts when I do push ups and most things involving bending my elbow in certain ways.

I tried the old skool bb pump yesterday. Just the intro 30 minute workout. No Joel on this one but Rach from combat was there. I used my barbell for some and did free weights or no weights for others. The chest track I did 3 different arm exercises because it hurt doing one thing repeatedly even with 1.5 kg weights and I couldn’t clean and press Sad . It’s a start though.

Today no workout but did go for a walk with Ds in the carrier which got my heart racing! Really struggled up a hill carrying him and my body feeling so heavy from exertion and then remembered before I lost all the weight after dd I was carrying around the equivalent of nearly 6 Ds’. No wonder I was constantly shattered and everything felt impossibly heavy!

Crossing fingers for a run tomorrow.

Hope all well

Purpleraindeer · 02/01/2020 08:20

Hi everyone
I love a Christmas Day run. I just go immediately post presents and pre having to do lunch prep. It helps that I’m not in charge of lunch obviously. Only 3miles but I find all the time spent indoors at xmas doesn’t agree with me so I need to get out. I also read that excess calories on Xmas day turn into fat cells within 3hrs of eating which revolted me so much I thought I needed a bit of exercise. I’ve definitely gained a bit over Xmas (waistlines feeling tight) but haven’t stepped on scales yet as I don’t dare....

Plink - glad the scan was good. Am sure the exercise will come back soon. Give it a bit of time.

Reastie - well done with the running. That’s great. I think running is the best exercise for MH.

Roman/poppy - happy new year!

I’m running a marathon on Sunday. It’s only going to be a jog round as I’ve not tapered and am doing it as a training run. It is muddy round here so I think it might be a bit messy as it’s all off road. I got lots of running related presents this Xmas so I’ll be using them all Smile

Theromanempire · 02/01/2020 09:41

Happy New Year to you all Smile Lovely to hear all your news - seems a while since we have all been 'chatting'!

purple a Christmas day run sounds fab - well it would be a walk for me - but I just do not have the motivation! We did do a Christmas Eve walk to try and tire the DC out (it didn't work!) but that is literally the only exercise I have done since 22nd December Blush

reastie love some old-school pump workouts! I have found some on the secret site that were beachbody ones but are no longer available on the official beachbody site Confused - they might be the ones you are doing as they have Rach, Joel, Jericho and Combat Dan on them?

I weighed myself this morning to set my starting weight - seem to have put on half a stone over Christmas which sounds about right but I am ok with it as I had made peace with eating whatever I wanted for a few days and dealing it with it from today! I am now about a stone heavier than my lightest weight last year so I have a target of 2 and a half stone to shift.

Starting a new round of LIIFT today (this will be about our 6th round) but both me and DH love it so much! I did want to try Barre Blend but it isn't on general release yet so can't. I am absolutely going to pay the extra in April for Joel's new boxing workouts though so the plan is to do 8 weeks of LIIFT then mix and match for a few weeks till that is available.

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 02/01/2020 18:51

6th round of lift???! You do love it!
I’m in week 4 of my 4th round.
I was wondering whether anyone would be interested in doing a week of morning meltdown 100 with me? I had a look today. It looks good and all workouts are c30mins.

yumyumpoppycat · 04/01/2020 00:28

Happy new year all!! We went on a mini family hol and was really lovely, kids spent hours on ice rink which was fab (dh and I watched with mulled wine in hand!). Dh is suggesting I get a spin bike because of foot problems - it's a lot better but worried it will get worse like when I exercised for a bit before- it could be the thing to get me on track or a total waste of money and space!! I am also quite tempted by the mention of all these new workouts but they are prob too hardcore for me at the mo

Reastie good luck with adding more weights I hope you can find a good routine - Chalean is really not extreme and if you skip the cardio it gives you 3 workouts a week. There are pushups but not really any pull-ups I don't think - its a little slow if anything.

Plink i think exercise is great if you can but being pregnant with a toddler to look after is a workout in itself.

Roman 7lbs over Xmas is not bad at all as most of it is prob water. I really need to focus as had a scary weigh in today - highest ever.

purple did you start the new routine how was it?

YuleAreBeingUnREASTIEable · 04/01/2020 07:01

Purple I love how you just drop in you’re doing a marathon this week end like it’s nothing 😂! Good luck, I hope you enjoy it.

Thermo yes they’re the pump workouts I did! They’re great! I could have done pump on LMOD but fancied a familiar workout to say hello to iykwim. I have them on dvd! Enjoy liift (I know you will!!).

Yumy holiday sounds nice. what about a turbo for your current bike? Speaking of bikes, I’ve just bought myself a new bike for Christmas. It’s on order and arrives next month. SO EXCITED! My current bike has 3 questionable and v jerky gears that clunky and go in and out by themselves. We looked into fixing it but given it’s such an old bike it wasn’t worth it. I’ve ordered a fancy pants hybrid bike and hoping for a weekly cycle and weekly run. Thinking of asking dm if she can have Ds for an hour once or twice a week so I can do a LMOD or bb workout.

Trying to work out whether to sign up to LMOD for a year. They have a 4 months free when you sign up for a year.

Theromanempire · 04/01/2020 08:51

I may have signed up to the Chris Hemsworth exercise site and it may not just be for the exercise Blush I have only signed up for a month because I wanted to have a look around to see what it's like. There are a ton of workouts in there of all different types so it looks good but very few with Chris himself Hmm Ashley-joy from Liift is on it though as one of the main trainers!

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 04/01/2020 11:39

Ooh Chris hemsworth - way more appealing than a spin bike Wink how much was it?

Reastie I don't have a normal bike for a few different reasons but actually we have just gone through all our bills and spin bike is def on hold 😬

I think c25k might be an option for me as very controlled build up so hopefully a good way to avoid injury.

Purple are you doing a marathon I totally missed that sorry?!

Theromanempire · 04/01/2020 12:27

yum it is called Centr. The cheapest option is the annual option which was £93 (so about £8 a month) but you have to pay upfront which I didn't want to do. One month is £23 and you get a week free. It also has recipes, tips, motivation etc. To be fair, the main trainer (CH's personal trainer) is easy on the eye but no Chris Hemsworth Grin which clearly makes it better! I need to find a way of fitting it into the Liift schedule this month to trial it.

purple I totally missed you were doing a marathon aswell! Amazing that you can just get up and do it - your base level of fitness must be amazing! Good luck Smile

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 05/01/2020 19:45

Roman thanks I will defo do the free trial! Have a cold now airplane germs I guess!! Tree and decks to come down tomorrow so that will have to be workout no 1 🤧

YuleAreBeingUnREASTIEable · 06/01/2020 06:31

I’m reading a book atm that is driving me so mad I think I’m going to stop reading it before I’m finished! It’s all about the science behind the paleo diet and eating like a caveman but the man who wrote it has totally flawed logic and is so alarmist. I know the science of sugar more than he explains in the book because of my nutrition background. He is picking out facts and slanting them to fit his argument. It’s like reading something in the daily mail. It makes me then not trust anything he writes because I can see how he’s not telling the whole factual truth. I’m sure there are merits to the paleo diet but he hasn’t sold them to me. For example, he goes on about how much better he is now he’s been on this way of eating/living. In one chapter he goes on about how you must only eat what you are designed to have in your cavemen history and so no grains etc because they didn’t have them. Later on he talks about drinking water and it must be water and not tea/coffee because water is the best and only way.......then a few chapters on he says he has coffee for his breakfast. Yes. Because cavemen loved their lattes Hmm . So many things like that in this frustrating book.

Managed a run yesterday after 3 days of nothing. I’m going to miss it when dh goes back to work and I’m back to only workouts at week ends.

Purpleraindeer · 06/01/2020 07:57

I just had a look at centr - I enjoyed chris hemsworth looking sultry whilst also lifting weights! Ashley joy looks amazing. She’s a good ad for the program. Let us know what it is like.

Poppy - did I see you were doing c25k? Do be careful with your foot if you’re on pavements. It is better to run on trail/grass if you can whilst your joints/ligaments toughen up.

There has been loads in the papers this weekend about New Years exercise regimes. All say you need a combo of weights, cardio, HIIT and stretch. Apparently weights are even more important for those of us over 40 (me!) I might need to do a bit more stretching Blush

Marathon was great. It was a self navigated off road one. I’ve NEVER seen so much mud. I slipped at one point and my whole leg was covered. It was great fun though and because it was super slow (I think I was 5.5hrs) my legs feel ok today. There were a lot of very hardcore people there - one bloke I was chatting to does 1mara every month. He has done 90!

Rest day today then maybe an upper body weights workout tomorrow to give my legs a bit more recovery.

Happy ‘most depressing day of the year’ to you all!

PlinkPlink · 06/01/2020 22:11

Grin just casually chatting to the bloke next to me while I run a marathon🙈🙈🙈 Purple you are amazing 😂 I cant talk to people whilst I'm exercising. I barely babe enough breath for the grunts and other weird noises I make.

Yum I second Purples advice on running on grass or trail. Pavement and road will really bugger up joints. Nice and gentle, easy does it. Your little holiday sounds lovely!! A glass of mulled wine whilst watching the kids on ice... sounds wonderful.

Put the book down Reastie 😂 I think theres quite a few of those about. I was quite disappointed to find out Dr. Jason Fung (author of The Obesity Code) is currently endorsing a company that promotes detox tea/ diet teas. Wholly disappointed in that and has made me think about whether I really want to buy his book or not. Such a shame.
Giggling at your outrage though 😂😂

Roman Chris Hemsworth motivated workouts 😂 is he in his Thor costume in any of them? 😂 oh I like Ashley Joi. I follow her on Instagram, she kicks ass. 7lbs over Christmas is not bad at all. I'm glad you've made peace with it. Its gonna happen. Itll happen to most. May as well focus on getting to where you want to, now you've had an enjoyable Christmas.

Well, I'm hoping to do Liift tomorrow but tonight I eased in with Desi's 2nd Trimester Yoga. Wowza... some hard poses but boy, did I feel relaxed after. I had a good endorphin rush like I get after Liift so I was quite surprised by that. Still annoyed by that whole 'I like to call cat/cow unciorn/rainbow instead'. Roll my eyes every time.

Midwife appointment was today and that was nice. All going to plan. Short appointment. But I got to listen to baby's heartbeat and it came through so strong and loud. Lovely. Was beaming whilst it was going.

Hope you're all looking after yourselves.

YuleAreBeingUnREASTIEable · 07/01/2020 08:55

Plink lovely to hear hb. I remember massively gritting my teeth through the unicorn rainbow thing. I think I only attempted her first and third trimester yoga as second was too much for me!

Interesting re running on grass. I actively avoid that as near me all the grass is so long or ground so bumpy it makes my ankles worse and feels like I might twist them.

C25k this morning hopefully. Dh having the snip this afternoon so hoping the pain won’t be so bad he can’t have Ds tomorrow morning for another cheeky workout.

Purple do you have spiked trainers? I always worry about slipping when running in mud. Btw do you eat/drink during your runs? That’s a long time to run for! After an hour I’d need a wee and a snack 😂

yumyumpoppycat · 11/01/2020 10:45

Sorry to have disappeared again this cold is really bad, literally no energy and at the awful chesty cough stage - def no exercise at mo.

Plink I used to love hearing heartbeat 🥰

Purple I will def be careful if running - there is an interesting thread on here about slow running and staying under a certain heart rate. Might give it a go 🤔 worried about looking daft but me stomping around with a bright red face trying to be fast doesn't exactly look good either.

Gonna have to check out this unicorn yoga 😂

Ooh the snip reastie, hope your dh breezes through and you get a run in (I was going going to say workout but sounded wrong in context 🤣)

Hope your all have a nice weekend

Purpleraindeer · 12/01/2020 19:14

Hi all
I’ve been feeling a bit poorly this week so no posting/exercising for me. Sounds like you’ve been the same poppy.
I wear trail trainers which have little studs on the bottom to stop me slipping in the mud. They’re great.

Slow running is the way to go poppy. If you feel tired, have a walk - that’s my motto.

Managed a run on Friday and then 2x morning melt down over the weekend. It is ok, but the cueing is awful. Even the lady in the front row of the cast can’t work out what Jericho is on about. I’ll stick with it for a few more weeks. All workouts are under 30mins which gets the thumbs up from me!

Unicorn/rainbow yoga sounds like the sort of thing dd would like Smile

Reastie · 12/01/2020 20:39

Yumy and purple hope you both feel a lot better soon.

Managed 2 runs of non stop running for 25 minutes in last few days. Hurrah! Feels like I’m making real progress with c25k atm.

Dh doing a lot of slow walking, especially walking on the stairs and bending 😂.

Reastie · 12/01/2020 20:40

Ohh, meant to add, did piyo lower last week. Haven’t done it for years and my glutes are mega weak atm. Really felt it the next day despite only being 20 minutes long so that was good (I like the muscle ache pain!)

PlinkPlink · 12/01/2020 22:11

Oh yum hope you feel better soon!! Defo no exercise. Wait til you feel up to it.
And you purple , get better soon. You'll be back to it in no time. Just need some rest is all.

Oh poor Mr Reastie Grin apparently it's really quick? As in it gets done pretty quickly? I remember talking to OH about that a few months after we had DS. We were obviously in that stage where we wondering what on earth we had done to ourselves. DS was hard work so we didnt feel like we wanted anymore for about 18 months after Grin there's a possibility of a number 3 at some point (speaking as someone with great naivety about life with multiple children Wink ) so won't rush him to the docs yet Grin

I managed to do a Liift 20 mim workout the day after yoga. God, it felt great! Just medium to small weights. Nothing heavy and all my ab work was heavily modified. Stand up crunches and stood up side reaches.
But after then we took in our neighbour's dog for a few days and its safe to say I got distracted/didnt care I wasnt working out because i was getting doggy snuggles Grin

She's gone back now which we're all thoroughly depressed about. There's something about dog company makes the house feel complete. Maybe instead of a 3rd baby we can have a dog instead Grin

Purpleraindeer · 14/01/2020 07:42

Reastie that is fab on the running - well done! A good run is such a boost. I had a really good one on Friday and it gave me a lift for the whole weekend Smile

Did core workout from 100 melt down last night. Was 24 (well, 21 for me as I skipped the cool down Blush) minutes of misery. My abs hurt after 3mins. I’m amazed I’m not really sore today.
