This is a thread to talk about all things running and support each other through the highs and lows. All are welcome, from absolute beginners to experts!
We keep a running total of everyone's miles for the month, so feel free to add yours on. Current total for March is:

Oh I hear you Buster! Just in from my run, started in the rain then it dried up and it is sticky and hot, I am soaked! Am trying to just think about how easy it's going to feel running the marathon in cool October.

I only managed 3 miles here today.

Was our last night here so we went out and I drank a few too many vodkas and then a few too many sambuccas. That and the heat killed me.

Still I managed 20 miles in the week I was here.

Was looking forward to running in the cool again but where we live is saying 36 tomorrow 🤦🏼‍♀️

Roll on Saturday and the forecast of rain!

Off to the airport shortly. Can't wait to get home and see my 🐶🐶🐶

BusterTheBulldog · 24/07/2019 14:03

5 miles today with 12 x 45 secs intervals in there. Wasn’t too awful as could hug the Shade for 2/3 of it, dropping again though!

Can’t stop eating Cornetos!

10k. Too hot for that.

I went out for a run this morning, just for the lng-term bragging rights of having run on the hottest day ever! But it was rather slow, and I cut it short at 2.5 miles.

So together with a run on Monday evening

590.6

BusterTheBulldog · 26/07/2019 00:30

4 miles at 1030pm! Long day at work and think I went a bit delirious! So many people out at that time, really odd!

Pinkarsedfly · 26/07/2019 06:45

5k this morning. Took it very slow and steady as it was my first time out after a calf sprain. Enjoyed it though! Warm already at 6am.

emummy · 27/07/2019 11:10

Tempo run this morning, a bit cooler today.

Did 6.2 Miles yesterday. Was lovely to run not in the heat. Was very humid though.

Today did 4.2 miles off road steady as work up in the night with cramp in my calf.

Ended up slipping on a wooden bridge. Fell over and landed on my side. Hurt my hip and banged my head. So now I've got a stiff hip and neck to add to my list 😂

Oh no Chesney! Hope all the sore bits heal up quickly.
Long run this morning with last 4 miles at marathon pace. Nice morning, still warm but cloudy so felt ok.

Tough Mudder yesterday- not sure if that counts? Around 9 miles in cool, damp muddy and wet conditions Grin. Many grazes, bruises and a mysterious rash have appeared this morning as a result.
If so, 633.7.

emummy · 28/07/2019 11:50

Victoria that definitely counts! Well done!

Very wet run with the dog but it was a perfect temperature for running. Didn’t run in the very hot weather as we were camping.

On holiday on the North West coast of Scotland at the moment. Did 10 very hilly miles on a single track road with mostly sheep for company today. It's about 20 degrees and sunny so a fairly challenging run all in. Stunning scenery too.

Adding a few miles from earlier in the week:

649.7

Going to join in started running new years day well I say run I ran and walked a 5k park run along with the kids in 42mins I couldn't move for 3 days :)

Feb diagnosed with Oesteoarthritis in both knees few weeks off and wear supports now, yes hurts but no more than walking and less than the barstard stairs!

So I run 4 mornings a week 2.5k in 15mins before work and then most weeks do a 5k park run. Just over 30mins aiming for under.

I also have asthma so working on my breathing def helps having someone to chat to on the way round.

emummy · 28/07/2019 19:57

Welcome east, sounds like you've made amazing progress!

Thanks if you told me this time last yr I would be where I am now I would have laughed. I even went to Dubai in June and got up at 6am every morning to run as too hot at other times and I hate the treadmill. (Only so I could eat sausages for breakfast!!)

emummy · 28/07/2019 20:23

Sausages are a great motivator....

IRun4Me · 28/07/2019 20:31

Welcome east I admire your motivation - even if sausage fuelled Grin

CarrotCakeEveryTime · 29/07/2019 11:23

Hello! Can I join you?

I seem to have lost my running mojo, so I'm hoping a bit of accountability to you lovely lot may help me.

I enjoy a 7-10k run usually, like to be off road. Have done a few HM and some local 10k events. I joined a local club a year or so ago which was great, but sadly I've hardly been this year due to general busy family life getting in the way and being so tired. No excuse really.

Running really helps my mental health, as well as meaning I can eat cake guilt free. I'm sure it's the same for a lot of you too. It's lovely to hear about your runs, I will be posting my next one very soon.

Can I ask what the distances in bold mean, is it just a personal running total or monthly/annual count?

emummy · 29/07/2019 13:29

Welcome CarrotCake! The numbers are our cumulative total in miles, so you just add on the miles you've done that day or week. Running for cake is a common theme, my coffee and cake after parkrun is a highlight of my week!

Hi carrotcakeeverytime, totally agree with your username although I never say no to any cake!

Busy weekend of running for me, 10mile race on sat which I monumentally messed up but hey ho, 8miles on sun and 15 miles tonight. Knackered now!

Chesneyhawkes1 · 29/07/2019 22:55

Hello @CarrotCakeEveryTime !

I did a half marathon before work today. Not a race just decided I'd run one to see how my training was coming along.

Went really well, so very pleased.

Annoying that leaves my miles for the month at 94.9. So I'll have to run 5.1 by Wednesday as I don't like odd numbers 😂

695.8

emummy · 30/07/2019 08:53

Short easy run in the sun this morning. Ran before breakfast due to general laziness & time wasting and it felt ok.
Well done on your half Chesney!
Sorry the race didn't go to plan Buster.

10 hilly miles this morning. Lots of lovely scenery but quite a lot of midges so I was reluctant to pause much to admire the views.
