This is a thread to talk about all things running and support each other through the highs and lows. All are welcome, from absolute beginners to experts!
We keep a running total of everyone's miles for the month, so feel free to add yours on. Current total for March is:

Been away with work so no time to update this thread. My race on Sunday went really well, came 3rd in my age group and increased my PB by 2 minutes.

Managed to get out for 2 x 5:30am short runs whilst away, was so cold and dark and I got lost on both runs but luckily google maps saved me.

Been out today for a lunch run and got pelted with rain in the face with the wind which was not pleasant but it’s done!

Muddy & icy run in the forest with fog today & she had a lovely time rolling in poo! So home & shower for both of us.

Good shoes are a must definitely, you need to feel confident in your footing. I live off road running, all hilly forests here mind you! I run alone too but have never had any problems, although this is a rural area, fewer people about. I like to think any dodgy characters are unlikely to be hanging around forests in the rain!

I’m at the opposite end of the country to you emummy but I think I’d love running in your area too. I’d like to move to off path running as I only currently do concrete path or compacted sand. DH runs the coastal path near us but I think I’d just end up walking most of it due to the climbs & uneven footing with a wonky ankle, maybe I need to bite the bullet and gets some off road shoes to go for it. I’m also more wary as it feels more vulnerable somehow as mostly I run alone.

I had a lovely moonlit cold 5m run last night I only went out as had to take eldest daughter to her club so used that hour to run around. No snow in my area but there was not too far away, & the wind was bitter last night. My 1st run with 2buffs on Grin one around head & one around neck, but I love cold running much prefer it any day to August hot ones.

Nice easy run in the sunshine this morning. Very fresh and we have a light dusting of snow, but all the paths have been gritted (go Aberdeenshire council!) so it was fine.

Well done emummy
Wet and windy run this afternoon. The wind was so cold but when I was sheltered I kept getting really warm, then the wind cooled me down again. Think I also have a short dog run to add.

Well done Tri, 4 seasons in one day there!
Soggy hilly forest run with fog this morning, really proud of myself for running all the way up a steep little hill that I usually have to walk part of.

Glad all went well emummy. I did four miles of frosty/icy trails this morning which was very enjoyable despite the cold.

Back home now defrosting! The boggy part of the course did indeed become a skating rink, so we used our alternative course. Then it snowed. But, everyone had fun, nobody fell or got lost and the results processed without a hitch so I'm happy! Am also in charge next week, wonder how the weather will be.....

I’ve marshalled a few times it’s mostly good Grin just had a run of crap weather Saturdays recently 🙄

Well, I suppose you get a free facial! Sounds like a morning in bed is needed, wouldn’t like to be a marshal in that weather!

Good luck emummy sounds like tough conditions! I don’t mind cold or even rain but we get strong wind with it which makes it miserable when the sand gets whipped up too it’s a full on facial 😂then add in a high tide and we can get waves overtopping the course that’s what cancelled it last week.

Nice run in the sunshine this morning, avoiding icy bits.
Tri I am RD at parkrun tomorrow, the forecast is for cloudy and 1 degree! I wanted it to stop raining so the course wouldn't be waterlogged, now I'm worried it will be a skating rink! Wet leaves, mud and -2 overnight, what can go wrong!

Another snot clearing 4m this morning, I wasn’t going to run today but yet again ParkRun forecast is heavy rain & windy Sad so I thought I’d better go out between school drop & work, if I’m not running Sat am.

Hi @basicbitch16 I've not done it but it's on my list as it's my home town. I haven't lived there for years and years but I'd like to do it.

basic my DH did Southampton marathon this year and the HM is one lap, it is a bigger event, mostly flat, appeared well organised. We stayed in the premier inn which was literally 2min walk from the start which was perfect, but parked at the train station so the car was outside the road closures that worked really well as it was only 10min walk.

Had a slow cold but dry sunny 3m run on the beach this morning before work. I’m full of sinus cold and it helped clear some snot out.

Oooh thanks @Spanglemum! Will look at that for sure, pretty flat I'd imagine. Have you done it?

Hi all. Been running about a year. Did a half last month and have a 10 mile race weekend after this one. Really struggling to fit the training in. Away this weekend on Derby. Will take my runners.
