This is a thread to talk about all things running and support each other through the highs and lows. All are welcome, from absolute beginners to experts!
We keep a running total of everyone's miles for the month, so feel free to add yours on. Current total for March is:

204.3

@Alex3101 the Naked Running Belt works. Thank you! It arrived today. Holds a soft flask, my giant phone, loo roll and keys all securely and no bounce.

Alex3101 · 09/07/2019 21:24

@OhYouBadBadKitten that's brilliant. I do really secretly covet my DW one.

Stingynettle · 09/07/2019 23:34

Sounds like the physio appointments went well with good news.
5 miles with a big hill and some intervals. No zip on the intervals - I must still be recovering from my long run on Sunday.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 10/07/2019 02:47

Hills for me. Jogged there, sprinted up and jogged down 5 times and then a slow run back home.

Easy run this opening, started off in light drizzle, finished in total downpour! Had to do stretches inside, ds very amused by my drowned rat look.

Oh my GOODNESS. I went to a BritMilFit CrossRun class this evening. It was so hard and really wanted to give up almost every step of the way... shattered now. I chose the wrong group and ended up with some of the fittest people I have ever met. I am shattered. But I guess it will somehow do me good

I am off to my bootcamp this morning; I remember the first time I went I though I would be sick! Took 3 weeks till I didn't feel on the verge of vomiting at the end! It is good for you... hope your muscles are ok today!

Early run on beach this morning as low tide but it was wet and rutted sand this morning testing my ankles abit! Lovely to be able to start my day like that before work. I’ll add my other run this week to the total too.

HopeCrescent · 11/07/2019 08:37

Muscles are actually, strangely fine. Though it took me a while to sleep last night. I have to go back... which is a good thing. Might give the crazy group a miss though. The second slowest who became my mate does marathons under 3.30. I am hoping to maybe do a half on 2.15 so I guess I ‘over-reached’ as they say!

AuntieStella · 11/07/2019 09:47

The military fitness types do all seem rather barking! Glad it went well, though. Message is that you are stronger than you think.

I did my first run since my Half yesterday, and all is fine

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/07/2019 22:30

Another 3 miles tonight.
225.8

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/07/2019 22:30

I mean 226.8 oops.

CarrotPuff · 11/07/2019 22:46

Still no running here ☹️ I've done some strength training tonight though, better than nothing while I wait!

Also found this lying down on a table test to check if you have tight hip flexors or if they're weak, turns out mine are definitely too tight! The right side especially, so I've done some stretches. I often neglect them especially if I'm not too sore, so I've learned my lesson now... hopefully in another week or so I'll be able to resume running, we'll see how it goes...

Stingynettle · 11/07/2019 23:12

What is the lying down on the table test Carrot ? I suspect I neglect hip flexors too. An office-based job doesn't help. Fingers crossed you'll get back running soon.

3 mile tempo run this evening followed by some kettlebell and TRX in the gym.

229.8

TriSkiRun99 · 12/07/2019 08:54

My hip flexors cause me problems and I have to stretch everyday gentle yoga stuff or I just seize up.
Early 3m run on the beach again this morning. My hormonal anxiety and work stress pre-hols is building and it does help a bit running early before work.

332.8

Chesneyhawkes1 · 12/07/2019 15:55

My hip flexors are always tight too!

I've not run since Monday! Gave up vaping on Tuesday and god it's been tough. Can't sleep and feel drained! Cigarettes to vaping I found easy, but giving nicotine I'm finding hard.

Determined to run tonight after work though.

HopeCrescent · 12/07/2019 16:29

I do Rodney Yee Yoga sometimes and find it very helpful - particularly the hip opening sequence that is part of this ‘am yoga for your week’

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/07/2019 20:30

I did the Yoga with Adriene for runners this week. It really helped my tight everything.

You can do it Chesney. /waves pom poms.

Stingynettle · 13/07/2019 00:36

Easy but very wet 3 miles this evening.

335.8

emummy · 13/07/2019 08:28

Warm & sticky run this morning, good tempo pace through the woods. Off to volunteer at parkrun now.
Think we picked up an extra hundred miles somewhere, total I think is 241.3

OP posts:
HopeCrescent · 13/07/2019 09:34

Argh I found this morning much slower and harder than I expected. Just not a great one. But will feel better later.
Well done for volunteering At park run!

Morning all well at 11pm last night I started a 50km night Trail Run. I finished in just over 9 hours and have a lovely swollen ankle after a trip, but I got to the end. A total of 1900 metres of climbing made for a really tough race. 32 miles added. *

Wow! That is amazing alex. Where was the run?

Alex3101 · 13/07/2019 09:59

@HopeCrescent it was in Wendover Woods near Aylesbury

emummy · 13/07/2019 12:05

Well done Alex! What a great result. I hope the ankle is just a temporary problem.
