This is a thread to talk about all things running and support each other through the highs and lows. All are welcome, from absolute beginners to experts!
We keep a running total of everyone's miles for the month, so feel free to add yours on. Current total for March is:

Fell off the thread a bit. Still running though. *

Did a couple mid week 3m runs last week, then a park run. Wanted to do 4m on Monday but it was so hot and humid I gave up after 3.5. Would have loved to run tonight but DP hogged the night for his gym.

Early morning runs are fantastic - I did a fair few during RED January, and always felt really good on them Glad you're on a roll!

Tried out the ankle last night. Felt absolutely fine whilst running, but it's slightly 'off' this morning. I'm hoping it's wear off when I get up and out and about properly. Fingers crossed!

I always wear an ankle support stella it’s the £25 blue one in boots. Lasted a couple of years so far so it’s been worth the higher £s cost. I injured my ankle badly in my 20s and didn’t seek medical attention at the time so it healed badly. But this support has helped. Hope your run goes ok.

AuntieStella · 27/06/2019 08:42

Thanks! I'll have a look at supports.

I'm not running today. Will be walking some errands and have a dance class later. That should tell me if it's OK. If it is today, then I'll Parkrun at the weekend and then be back to running as usual next week

An early morning run on the beach sounds lovely! The warm weather has finally made it to Aberdeenshire so a steady run in the sunshine this morning. Considering going early tomorrow morning as I have a speed session planned & it's going to be toasty again.

Hope you had a nice birthday emummy
I’ve decided to have a week off exercise (apart from dog walks and cycle to work but I don’t count them Grin)
I realised I was exhausted and also becoming overwhelmed and stressed trying to fit it all in. I’m still tired but actually feel better for having a break and am planning to be back with a renewed spirit on Monday.
Still have 6 to add from before

So a quick 4 miles for me this evening in between DW getting home and heading to Ballet. It was very warm and I have got lovely nettle rash on my legs but it was good to be out.

5 miles off road for me today. I did the same run I did on 30 May, the day I decided to start back running. Was 38 seconds per mile quicker and was running steady as doing my first intervals tomorrow 😬 was really pleased.

Nice 4m run here too, it was my fastest so far! Also discovered that I get stitches if I don't breathe deep enough, so I've been doing some deep breathing and didn't really get any (one at some point but managed to get rid of it).

Lovely early 6am short run along the beach again Smile gotta make the most of this fab weather. Had taken swim stuff intending to go in after but none of the usual folk were sea swimming as it had been really rough yesterday and I put my safety first as with no one about I felt abit vulnerable going in alone. I’ll try again later but think the swell is going to pick up again later.

Early run for me too. Dogs walked first and off I went. Just a short one today as working on getting my legs faster!

Early run for me too. Trying to get back up to race pace, but not quite there, felt a bit peculiar and tight chested so might back off for a bit.

16 miles since I last posted. I've got a 10k race and half marathon coming up and feel like I can't do either. hating running at the moment and think I've peaked too soon Hmm. Be glad when July is over and I can stop for a bit.

Continuing my roll early beach run 6k this morning. A lot people about this morning but still lovely and ended up standing in the sea to cool off as it was hottest run yet. Happy weekend running everyone.

Very hot here.. went to parkrun this morning, but decided to cut through the woods and got lost on the way there 🙈 so had to run for a bit towards it, so ended up doing 3.5m.

I did a very sunny and already hot Parkrun this morning. Time not good, but I think my Achilles is on the mend - barely a twinge after!

Will get back to my normal frequency of running next week, but keep them short for a few more days.

"felt a bit peculiar and tight chested so might back off for a bit"

If you are in normal health, this will, almost certainly be the combo of pollen and heat - even if you don't get hay fever, that's enough to impact on running. I volunteered as barcode scanner whist laid up, and the number of people saying they found running really hard going right now was really noticeably high

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/06/2019 23:07

It could be that, which would be reassuring. I think I was a bit dehydrated.

emummy · 30/06/2019 08:40

I was barcode scanning yesterday too, we had a lot of red-faced runners! We now hand out water at the finish line, it is very popular!
Easy run this morning in the sunshine, about 16 degrees so felt nice. The air was cleared a bit by last night's thunderstorms & heavy rain.

What does everyone do about hydration?

I've spent a little while looking at hydration belts this afternoon. I don't need anything for 10k runs, but longer than that I think I do. I've got quite a narrow frame and lots of the belts look really bulky. I've also got a massive phone that only just squeezes into my current flip belt.

Alex3101 · 30/06/2019 18:28

I've got the Ultimate direction race belt which holds a soft flask and my phone.

My DW uses the below, it's much lighter and less like a belt. It holds the same as mine, I secretly covet her belt

LenoVentura · 30/06/2019 19:13

Miserable 10k this morning. Hot, humid, stiff headwind, hated every slow minute of it, can't make any speed at all so my race next week is going to be pants Sad. Knees are killing me.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/06/2019 22:23

The naked running band looks great Alex - like a roomier flipbelt. Thank you :) I'll have to look for a bottle to go with it.

Leno don't despair, it's been really hard conditions today. Rotten combination of wind and heat. Perhaps it's worth resting til your race and just focus on pain relief and hydration til it comes around,
