Well done time

Fiddie · 08/02/2019 17:25

Can I ask some advice? I did wk 5 r2 yesterday and was going to do run 3 tomorrow, but my right hip has been really hurting all day.

Shall I wait till Sunday or as DH says try and run it off? What's best to do?

vjg13 · 08/02/2019 17:32

I'd definitely wait until Sunday and see how you feel and maybe even give it a bit longer.

timetomoveon · 08/02/2019 23:31

I would wait an extra day Fiddie.

Violetroselily · 09/02/2019 07:57

I would also wait an extra day, particularly as it's the longest run yet

Fiddie · 09/02/2019 08:25

Thanks everyone, it's not as sore today but I'm going to wait until tomorrow. I'm keen to do it just to see if I can.

Good luck to everyone else plodding today.

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 09/02/2019 08:28

can you make a slow go at it, and sidetrack into repeating run 2 if your hip starts twanging at all?

I really worry about overdoing it, so am being quite cautious for a lot of the longer runs....as a PP said, I am sure my brisk warm up is faster paced than some of the runs if I am "practising"

I have W6R1 this morning, so really should get on with it.

Coldandfrosty · 09/02/2019 09:24

Fiddie I would wait. I kept running on my knee and it took much longer to settle than I think it would if I had given it a day or two off. Could walk/do different exercise?

I've just done the w5r3 20 min run. And I DID IT! It wasn't until about 17 min that I started to feel bad. I managed so much better than I thought. I did go v slow but I kept the jog going. And I got my fastest pace yet. Did 4k in 30 min so including the 2 warm up walks. Very proud of myself.

c25k week one day one!
timetomoveon · 09/02/2019 10:47

Well done @cold :)
And that’s not slow pace at all - you’re right on track for a 30 minute 5k.

Violetroselily · 10/02/2019 10:28

I've just done W6R2. I went way too fast on the first 10 mins so really struggled on the second run.

Dreading the 25 min run on R3 this week

Fiddie · 10/02/2019 14:29

I did wk5 r3, I used better trainers and my hip was much better.

I went very slow though, no where near 4km! I 'run' at 6.4km an hour and find that hard enough.

I'm not sure how far I went doing it as I accidentally reset the running machine Blush

JSB78 · 10/02/2019 14:40

Well done Fiddie!
I also did wk5R3 this morning. Despite dreading it for days (and having nightmares about it last night!) it went ok.
I really feel like Jo is may bff now! Grin

Fiddie · 10/02/2019 14:56

Me too! I really like her, she's genuinely pleased that we're doing it!

vjg13 · 10/02/2019 15:19

Did W9 R1 today and inadvertently ran for 33 minutes because I paused it by mistake and then didn't want to 'cheat'! So two more runs to go but I have decided to repeat this last week 3 times to consolidate.

Fiddie · 10/02/2019 15:28

Well done @vjg13

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 10/02/2019 17:58

that's fab vjg ...i have to wait till tomorrow evening to do mine, we're out on a early start

dh is interrupting my life! But I do get lunch out so I forgive him!

dementedma · 10/02/2019 19:54

did W5R1 again to make sure i really could do it and will tackle R2 on Wednesday. No idea of distance as I walk faster than i "run" so probably not much. I will be happy if I can get up to running 5K wihtout stopping, don't care if it takes me an hour!
And, since starting this in january (and cutting down on booze and eating crap) I have lost half a stone!!

Fiddie · 10/02/2019 19:57

You can do it @dementedma I didn't really believe I could bit I did, one foot in front of the other for 20 minutes!

timetomoveon · 11/02/2019 01:32

Well done on the weight loss @dementedma and super well done @vgj13

I did w6r1 this morning. Really pleased with myself as I’m away for work this week so I researched a route I could take and did it. Felt really good especially compared to the w5 long run and I even went a little faster in the last 5 mins run. No idea how far I’m going though. I think my walk is definitely as fast as my run though. My aim once I’ve finished the c25k and can run for 30 mins is then to be able to run a 5k by my birthday which is the middle of April.

Coldandfrosty · 11/02/2019 03:05

@timetomoveon that sounds fab running 5k on birthday, is that a goal date to do it or is it an event? Reading your post made me look for local events to me.

I've just signed up for a 5k in March and Race for life in May! Someone come and remove my phone from me before I sign up for anything else...!

timetomoveon · 11/02/2019 08:22

@coldandfrosty it’s just a goal date. I want to go out with my son that morning for a run. He doesn’t know I’ve started running - he’s 11 and loves running and I want to surprise him by running 5k with him :)

timetomoveon · 11/02/2019 08:23

I’m very impressed that you’ve signed up for an actual race though @cold - I’m too nervous to do that yet.

Coldandfrosty · 11/02/2019 09:08

@timetomoveon that's such a nice idea, he will be so proud! You should do a race for life if you have a local one. People literally walk the whole thing v v slowly. Some people run fast. And then everything in between. They stagger where you go so you can choose if you want to be with runners/joggers/walkers. And of course you can start walking then decide you want to jog/start jogging and slow down to a walk. It's more for fun.

Same as the stroke charity one, it says it's a fun run too.

swampytiggaa · 11/02/2019 09:13

Hi everyone! I’m doing c25k with my neighbours just about to head out on wk1 r3 😁

I actually did it a few years ago and on Saturday I completed my 100th parkrun and in a couple of weeks I am doing my second half marathon!

I love encouraging people to run 🙂

Coldandfrosty · 11/02/2019 11:36

That's fab swampy
