After doing this in 2018 a new thread for new folk to join the 2019 challenge. Pick your target, log your miles and see what you can achieve whilst encouraging each other Smile Anyone want to join me?

Fast 5km this afternoon.

1460

October may have been light on the miles, my shortest month ever I think. But also my fastest - just done my fastest ever KM at 4 min 30. I could real the cold in my chest, think it's time to get the winter kit out of the loft

TriSkiRun99 · 29/10/2019 09:49

Slow 5k happy plodding listening to a podcast this morning just enjoying fresh air. Last 2d I’ve run in buff, jacket & long winter leggings as it’s been 3-4c wind chill I’ve needed it. But I love running in these temps. Well done on your fast km bear that’s great.

My feet and ankles have been aching a lot recently so today I ran in a pair of brooks I bought a few months back that are slightly too small, but not worn - and no aching feet and ankles. Does this mean I need to replace my trainers again ??? This 'free hobby' is blooming expensive sometimes!! I have never found a pair as good as my Hoka Ones so I'm going to stop messing about and just go straight for them this time. I suppose I have probably done 400km in this pair, bought in early July, so that's about right I guess but still....

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/10/2019 17:02

Just scrolled through Strava and this thread to deduce that actually I've done nearly 500k in this current pair- so yes, I definitely do need some new ones!

TriSkiRun99 · 30/10/2019 20:56

The damp weather I think is contributing to my aching joints, I’ve not run in Hoka but heard good things so I am going to try some. I had rest day today as was very tired due to lots of late nights due to taxi duties for my DD. May try get a 7k in tom to round off Oct total Grin, I’ll see what the weather does as it was pants today very very wet and windy.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 30/10/2019 21:08

Tri they were great for me, they have a rolling sole and are extra wide, plus I found they reduced my knees knocking together so everything I needed really. The only downside to me is the price - they don't seem to come up on many websites and virtually never have sales.

However, There is currently a sale on the Hoka official site but not for the ones I need unfortunately.

Ran 8k this morn after school drop & before work as a gap in the endless wet n windy weather, as it returns later. Right shoulder achy now 🙄post swimming feel like my body just turning into achy fest at the moment. Slightly nervous I’m going to struggle to hit my 1000km target if I get hit by more illness between now and 31stDec, as I have 159km to go which is two 80km months, under full fitness would be fine but my achy joints & sore toe will make it challenging! Sent youngest off to school on calpol yet again she’s super snotty it’s just been endless on our house with bugs since Sept Sad

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/11/2019 08:42

Just a crappy 3k this morning, weather miserable and I just couldn't face it.

1476

May head out again this afternoon if it clears, I hate having a disappointing run.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/11/2019 08:45

Oh and October stats:

Total 104 k (3.35 per day av)
Total for year (to 31/10) 1473= 4.8 per day

October was well under and annoyingly I am still sore and suffering with the glute/hamstring issue.

TriSkiRun99 · 02/11/2019 20:16

Our ParkRun was cancelled today as weather was really wet n windy bear so well done just getting out. I didn’t...hope to get out tom as weather looks better.

No running today alas I’m fighting yet again another cold Sad my youngest DD has had it all week, flipping weather was perfect early this morning as well..DH went out instead. I’m hoping after a gd nights sleep I can get out after school run tomorrow.

amysaurus87 · 04/11/2019 07:53

29.77 miles of walking done this week! Not as much as I hoped, but with all the rain we've had I've not wanted to go out much!

1583.95

TriSkiRun99 · 04/11/2019 11:27

Despite feeling snotty still & crappy sleep I was determined to do a long run this morning, then got soaked in 2downpours but kept going as Sun was attempting to break through. Ended up enjoying 14k run even though I’ve just had to ice my toe joints & put Ibroprofen gel on them.. hope they have survived. Got some new trainers coming this week hope they fit & will help.

TriSkiRun99 · 08/11/2019 09:37

I hope so but I’m a fussy sod with shoes Grin hopefully they will arrive today. Went out for 45min run today still clearing a lot of snot but after a good sleep feeling a lot more human today Smile

The new Hokas still don’t fit 😩I got a women’s wide and still my little toe is out over the sole in the material Sad fed up of trying to find shoes that fit... think I’ll have to try mens again. Did yoga this morning as want to rest my legs Sat/Sun with aim of doing 10miles on Monday.
