After doing this in 2018 a new thread for new folk to join the 2019 challenge. Pick your target, log your miles and see what you can achieve whilst encouraging each other Smile Anyone want to join me?

Ooh, I'm in. Started gymming just before Christmas, so will start with a 1,000km challenge, but would love to beat that and turn it into 1,000m.

But to be honest, I'll take anything which means 2019 is more active than 2018!

Can anyone recommend some good running trainers?

Sevensatsumas I love brooks adrenaline but everyone is different. Do you have a good running shop near you? I would recommend going and trying lots on.

If you can find a running shop that will get you on a treadmill and do gait analysis that will be the best if possible.

First short walk of 2019 - 2k to get a McDonald's breakfast 🙈 Going to try to remember to use Map my Walk, as I have now integrated it with My Fitness Pal.

I'm joining too and aiming for 1000km!🤗

I've been running for many years but not consistent with it. Going to start with 10km in the first week then build it up from there each week.🙌

Kicked off 2019 with a park run double. Our 2 local parkruns are on at different times on NYD so you can run them both and my friend talked me into it. I was planning to run/walk the second but managed a slow jog all the way round so I’m really chuffed. Off to colour my tracker now.

10/1000 running.

A very gentle start 5k walk. Bit stiff after a 10k run and 18k bike ride yesterday (what was I thinking?)

I'm in!
Too old, too unfit and too knackered in the knee department for running so I'm a walker (nordic walking with poles x3 per week) but I'm aiming for 1000 miles in 2019.
3.5 miles today so 996.5 to go!

Walked 6.8 miles today. I found it quite challenging due to awful fitness level - also nearly got lost. I live in the Peak District so obv quite hilly. I really enjoyed it despite the huffing and puffing and planning another for fri. I hope you are all sharing in the glorious weather we have here

3.2 mile walk here with kids and dogs. I'm going to aim for a mixture of walking and swimming. I did start c25k last year but hurt my ankle them got shin splint on 2nd try so my aim is to start that again this year at some point.

3.2/996.8 miles

5.5 km this morning. Felt very slow and unhealthy, had a terrible stitch for most of it too.

@cleanhousewastedlife - really good to hear that you're making a great recovery from the Achilles injury. I sprained my ankle about 7 weeks ago and have been very disheartened at how slow slow slow the recovery from such a minor mishap has been - still stiff and weak and not able to run.

So my 2019 target is 1000km run plus 50 BMF sessions - but now to be based on a very slow ramp up! Bright side might be that if I'm up at 30km+ a week by end of year I could have a really good 2020...

I'm not logging walking miles but will aim to do something outdoors each day - so go out for a walk even if ankle can't support a run.

2.1 miles out of 1000 here! More planned for today.

Full Proclaimer for me - 500 miles and 500 more to make 1000 miles in total. So 1620km... 11km done yesterday so on my way! I'm training for a marathon in April and potentially Race To The Stones in July, so I need to get some serious miles under my belt

8 miles for me yesterday (20K steps) - done my 10K for today but hoping to add to that!

We were out at the park earlier too walking the kids and a dog and it was really quiet. Schools aren't back round here, everyone must be holed up indoors keeping warm!

Making the most of my time off. 24km walk today. It was lovely.
