After doing this in 2018 a new thread for new folk to join the 2019 challenge. Pick your target, log your miles and see what you can achieve whilst encouraging each other Smile Anyone want to join me?

Have you got an alternative pool you can get your fix at that’s in doors? anterenea

30.82 miles of walking done this week. It would have been more, but it was too hot over the bank holiday to do to much walking!

5.5km - first real training run outdoors, 2 mins intervals- and clearly paid off because I got some top tens on Strava!

Well there is the "standard" 25 meters indoor pool which is closed this week for cleaning so I can't complain really TriSkiRun99 Grin I may attempt a 10 k run on Thursday too...

TriSkiRun99 · 03/09/2019 12:35

Well done Amy - my legs hurt after just 10m of waking over the weekend it’s interesting how different activities work different muscles.
Great intervals bear - I really need to start planning my runs again and mix it up, as I’ve just been plodding along over last few months. I’m feeling re-motivated been listening to RunPod with Jennie Falconer. I’m going to aim to get to HM distance again by early Dec, did 8k last night in the dark! My DD was back at her club but she doesn’t finish till 9pm so I need to get used to running later again. It was interesting listening to Kelly Holmes talking on RunPod about dealing with injury and not being able to run but doing lots of alternative strength training and swimming/cross trainer then getting a Olympic medal on only 6wks of run training as her body was fit anyway. Super inspiring.

I will try that podcast thanks tri, it sounds interesting.,

It's funny with the intervals, I think I get myself in a bad habit of running at comfort pace and almost forget to push myself sometimes. Doing 2 mins fast, 2 mins recovery like that really felt like proper 'training' but my overall pace was 30 seconds per km faster than when I just run, so the slow pace didn't do any harm at all. I have been playing around with Fitbit, eg. I didn't realise you could have a chime every two minutes (mines always been set to notify every 1km) and there's different intervals you can use to break up the running.

Every day's a school day!

TriSkiRun99 · 03/09/2019 14:36

I’ve been sitting on a long train today with work listening to the RunPod with Simon who set up ParkRun and then Sophie Raworth one and the snowboarder Aimee plus Jo Pavey all really interesting to listen to. Smile

10.5km after school run. I felt tired from about 8k onwards, probably due to quite an intense circuits class last night.

Cycled into work but a head wind on tired legs made it hard going 14k, and plan to cycle home too.

36.04 miles of walking done this week. Now that its cooled off a bit, I managed to get in 2 big walks this week! It was hard as I've not done big walks since I went back to work 3 months ago!

1334.24/165.76

Definitely going to meet my 1,500 mile target for the year, if I can actually do closer to 2,000 I'll be incredibly happy!

Great work Amy and tri!

TriSkiRun99 · 10/09/2019 11:31

Thanks bear, you too. Had Zero Motivation this morning was supposed to run 5k after school drop before work. Instead did half hr of moving mediation yoga which did help abit - think my hormones have just had a crash day, as several dripping hot flushes yesterday & craving chocolate like mad Sad hohum maybe I’ll swim later or just be kind to myself and have a day off.

Much as I loathe the treadmill, it certainly boosts my performance the next day! I whizzed round today, fasted km in 4m44 sec ( what's that? 12 and a bit km/hr?)
