New Yearathon 2018

It is very nearly 2018, so here is a thread to track your exercise goals.

It doesn't matter if you are new to exercise, or merely continuing your current regime. Everyone is welcome!

Killer Arms and Back L1
Feel like I'm losing motivation. Spending half my time clock watching and it seems so hard - wonder if my weights are a bit heavy Hmm

108 days

OublietteBravo · 15/05/2018 19:32

I know what you mean regarding motivation. I don’t so much clock watch as circuit count. So I know that there are 8 circuits of 10 exercises in NMYZ (if you include the warm up). Which means that I complete 5% of the DVD every 4 exercises (and 10% every 8 exercises). I break it down into chunks and it seems more manageable.

Plus I definitely have good patches and bad patches. I actually find this time of year particularly difficult - there is obviously something demotivating about lighter evenings.

I made myself do levels 2 & 3 of 30DS this evening.

Thank you Oub. It's actually good to know that I'm not alone in the lack of motivation department. You are right I need to think in small chunks. You'd think I'd be more motivated given than summer and swimsuit season is approaching Grin

Bit late to the party but wanted to join
Have set a goal this year of running 200 kilometres this year. I am on 110 so far
Am managing most weeks 2 gym sessions doing mainly weights and resistance and two runs one a 5k and one a 3.5k
Am determined to keep this up but am trying to be kind to myself if I have an off week.
Will try and log on here to keep myself motivated

OublietteBravo · 17/05/2018 20:07

Hello hobnobs - welcome to the thread. It’s always nice to have a new recruit!

Hello from me too Hobnobs Smile it's great to have someone else for motivation and inspiration (not saying that Oub isn't motivating etc - she is!).

I also like running but have had to cut down a bit recently (and try to run on a proper track rather than pavements) as my knee is playing up Sad

Six week six pack L1

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 18/05/2018 18:09

Thanks for the welcome
3.5k run done
Now time for some Wine

OublietteBravo · 18/05/2018 20:04

I did 30DS L3 and then I tried out KBFF (the upper body circuit). I think I need some more practice!

(98/152: 79h 50min)

OP posts:
SophieLion · 18/05/2018 22:27

Yes it takes a few practices to get used to the moves and the sequences in KBFF. Did you enjoy the workout?

OublietteBravo · 19/05/2018 11:53

I did enjoy it - the moves with weights were fairly easy. But I definitely need to practice the punch/kick combinations. I’ll probably try the other circuits at some point.

Today I did 6W6P L2

Almost at 100 Oub!
My physio has said I mustn't run or do exercise involving squats, lunges etc until she gives me the go ahead (knee not good). She has given me some specific exercises to strengthen muscles around knee. And once it's ok, absolutely no running on pavements. Track or treadmill only (which I find sooooo boring....)

Will have to see if I can do a modified version of a DVD tomorrow so not using knee in the wrong way.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 20/05/2018 15:12

Quick 30 minutes in the gym doing some weights and abs stuff
Determined to keep plodding
Sunbathing by the gym pool with a Brew now as a reward Grin

SophieLion · 20/05/2018 15:49

Ooo sunbathing by the pool sounds lovely Hobnobs! Are you in the UK?!

Due to knee issues had a complete change with Tracey Anderson's Mat Workout. Was v long and veerrrrrry boring. But actually my arms and abs hurt now - in a good way of course!

112 days.

hobnobsaremyfavourite · 20/05/2018 18:24

I am in the UK but one of the perks of our ridiculously expensive gym is an indoor and outdoor pool so we are taking advantage of it today

SophieLion · 21/05/2018 19:03

I forgot that you're having lovely weather over there right now (I'm overseas) - enjoy!

I am doing physio exercises (strengthening leg muscles) 3 times a day for my knee which is at least 30 mins but somehow it doesn't feel like proper exercise! Not allowed to run, play tennis, do squats or lunges etc until physio says it's ok - so that rules our most of the Jillian DVDs Sad

OublietteBravo · 21/05/2018 19:25

I went a little crazy today and did all 3 levels of 30DS back-to-back. Unsurprisingly I’m feeling a bit tired right now!

Bugger went out for a run and it was crap AngrySad
Managed a smidge under 3k and walked home
Am rubbish in this warm weather and can’t get it right with drinking plenty/not feeling queasy whilst running
Back to the drawing board Sad

SophieLion · 21/05/2018 20:17

Hobnobs - if it's very hot there then perhaps sip some water during the run (I have a running belt which can hold 2 little bottles). Also wear a hat. Make sure you do a proper cool down afterwards (a good 5 minute walk) and then a rehydration drink with electrolytes. And make sure generally you are drinking throughout the day. I live in Greece and this is what I do when I have to run when it's warm.

Congrats on reaching 100 days Oub!

SophieLion · 22/05/2018 07:21

Managed to do 50 mins of strength training (yay!) using physio exercises (legs), Nell McAndrew DVD (Arms and bum) and Tracey Anderson DVD (abs and core). Forgotten how good the Tracey one is for sorting our stomachs!
Dance class later.
