Exercise every day 2018

Anyone up for tracking some exercise every day in 2018?

I currently do yoga and bootcamp classes at the gym and stopped running in September due to an injury (but not injured any more!)

I don't drive so walk everywhere. I wouldn't count walking as exercise unless I went further/faster on purpose, but willing to count say 20 mins easy yoga so that I don't burn out with intense exercise every day.

I'm hoping the streak will appeal to the my obsessive nature and mean that I push myself to do more this year.

Anyone else up for it? Grin

Wow Best I am in awe of your swimming!

Quinoa, how are you feeling?

30/365 - just a quick bit of core work. Would have been nothing at all but didn't want to break the streak. Insanity tomorrow to finish my first ever month of exercising every day!

Did a 5k run yesterday.

Today have managed a 90second plank and that’s pretty much it as I had to go to London for a lengthy hosputal appt, however have done 20,000 steps.

(Have name changed, it’s vivalebeaver)

Submariner · 31/01/2018 09:52

Hi Viva! Hope all went well at your appointment. Wow - 90 second plank! It sounds so harmless when you say it. I think 50 seconds is about my limit at the moment.

31/365 complete! A whole month of exercising every day! I did rowing and weights at the gym. It's amazing how quickly the weight creeps up in these early days. I will have to move out of the ladies gym soon and join the main free weight section. 😬

Thanks, appt went better than expected which is good.

Done a 4K run today.
3 mile brisk walk.
30 mins of weights and a 60 second plank. Wasn’t feeling the plank love today.

I go to a core class quite a bit where we have to do a 90 second plank followed Immediatly by a 90 second static leg lift. I was one of only two in the class which managed it last week!

Good luck with venturing in the free weights section Submariner. I go in there now. I only know how to use about half the stuff but I’m happy with what I do and rarely bother with the machines now.

Lifeisabeach · 31/01/2018 21:51

Day 30 was a 5k run doing interval sprints.

Day 31 - 1800m swim

Yay, we made it to the end of January! Well done everyone Smile

Bestbees · 01/02/2018 07:09

Well done everyone!
Thanks Sub, i promise once you get in thw groove and change uour mind set it isnt so hard to do lots of lengths.

31: yoga.

Lets post what has been our most pleasing achievement: for me it has been when i weighed myself this morning after avoiding the scales all january to see i had lost 9lb! Have been doing 5:2 but sure the exercise is helping. Also i was the only pwrson in my yoga class who could do a headstand yesterday and i know its because my core is getting stronger! Hurrah us!

Plan for today is to walk to body balance rather than drive and then rolerskating tonight!
Happy feb!

Lifeisabeach · 01/02/2018 14:14

Most pleasing achievement for me has been the improvement in my running pace. I'd been stuck at the same kind of pace and distance for ages, but this month I have tried really hard to improve, with a mixture of longer runs, hill reps and intervals, and it seems to be paying off.

Have totally let my cycling go though so maybe I need to focus on that in Feb (I'm a triathlete).

MrsJoshDun · 01/02/2018 20:03

Combat then aqua next week.

MrsJoshDun · 01/02/2018 20:03

Today even
Not next week

Submariner · 02/02/2018 09:58

I'm loving all the achievements! Mine was making a cup of tea in the staff kitchen the other day and my work friend said 'Have you lost weight? You're looking very slim.' I haven't actually lost weight but I think my core and posture is a lot better than a month ago. 😀

Yesterday for 32/365 I did some mountain climbers, lunges and yoga on my own. I'd like to experiment with some self-fund yoga practice this month.

Tonight will be Aqua Aerobics.

I hope you're feeling better Quinoa.

That was self-guided yoga. Unfortunately all my exercise is self-funded already, no-one pays me to do it more's the pity.

Love hearing the positive messages. So nice to focus on those rather than the usual self loathing that (womens) bodies get.

Today is the biggest challenge yet as i think i have a stomach bug- up in might with cramps, felt naseaus all day and friend i was with yesterday has been sick. Hoping it doesnt develop but also not wanting to exercise. Have done a 1 minute plank and will attempt a 10 minute yoga thing. Still even just the plank it is something!

Lifeisabeach · 02/02/2018 20:40

Oh no best, hope the big doesn’t come to
anything. Well done for getting your plank done!

Day 32 - 35 mins on the turbo trainer
Day 33 - 2000m swim

MrsJoshDun · 02/02/2018 23:02

Spin and pump today.

Submariner · 03/02/2018 15:52

Yesterday, day 33 turned out to just be a walk in the evening after being in with I'll 4 year old all day. Today 34/365 did some of my app followed by a bit of self-directed yoga. I bought Light on Yoga by BKS Iyengar so looking forward to that arriving.

Bug went away thank goodness!

Today yoga, keeping it gentle just in case!

Submariner · 04/02/2018 11:34

@QuinoaKeen are you ok? Hope you're feeling better. Please don't feel you can't come back if you've had a few days off - you're still very welcome. Hope you're feeling a lot better and looking after yourself.

Glad you're feeling better Best. :)

Good day today for day 35/365. Worked hard at the gym then came home and did my home yoga and meditation. Thanks all for the advice about gym routines. I have a bit of a set routine now that I try to do once or twice a week and it's giving me a good anchor to be able to track my progress. Did most of my treadmill with no hands too! Grin

I'm abit late to this but so inspired by you all!

This year I have been doing a lot more exercise than I ever have before but still not on a proper daily basis!

I've been walking 3-5 miles about 3 times a week. Spinning once a week (I love it!!!!) and doing little home workouts that I've got from Pinterest in between. (Have attached one as an example!)

I have about 7 stone to lose and I don't just want to lose weight, I want a good body too!!

Would love to join a gym but just can't afford it at the moment. What can all you amazing people suggest I do instead to up my exercise game?

MrsJoshDun · 04/02/2018 14:28

Planking yesterday.

Today has been a 4k run and an hour of weights.

Bestbees · 04/02/2018 15:42

Welcome lj!

I recommend yoga by adriene on youtube. She had a few 39 day camps. She is great for helping you tube i to your body in a positive way, and it sounds like you are making a great start which this would support. I am also impressed with how much my flexibility has improved.

Youtube generally good for pretty much anything- hiit, dance, 30 day shred.

Couch to 5k apps great for getting running. Very gentle and confidence boosting.

Weight loss wise have you looked i to 5:2? I find it great, sustainable and ebidence based.

6.5k run today for me and yoga later.Grin

FancyNewBeesly · 04/02/2018 15:43

I have ME and toddler twins so I find it really difficult but I'm trying to make sure j walk at least one mile a day (I managed four miles the other day which is unheard of). Some days are really tough though.

Bestbees · 04/02/2018 15:54

Well done fancy! I have 4 year old twin boys and toddler days are tough! Its a breeze now and they started school, fiving me two days a week freedom!

Excuse my ignorance but does exercise have positive effect in the ME?

Lj8893 · 04/02/2018 16:33

Thanks best!

I've heard good things about yoga with Adrianne so will give it a go, and look at some other YouTube stuff too.

I'm doing SW for weight loss and it's working brilliantly for me so far, half a stone off in 4 weeks!

I'm going to start coach to 5k again, I've done it before but didn't continue it unfortunately.

Nofilter · 04/02/2018 16:42

Hi ladies,

I got my first horse a few months ago and the weight dropped off me to start (have a 2yr old and nothing but running around after her since before pregnancy).

I’ve kind of plateaued now, I’m still having stupid amounts of sugary things in the evening.

I’m feeling really good with so much more excercise, I don’t ride everyday but spend at least 1hr 5 days a week there I’d say at least 40 minutes good solid cardio mucking out etc which will increase as the weather improves... I usually spend one full 4-5hr day when I do a few stables and that’s a massive workout I’m fast asleep at 9.30!

In order to carry on the theme of enjoying and being motivated by this I was wondering if you had any suggestions for toning sessions which I can do at home and whether a couple of times a week would have any effect?

Bestbees · 05/02/2018 19:56

Welcome nofilter. I am sure that even a few sessions will help. I always advise yoga as i thinknit tones without you noticing so much. 30day shred also good if hard work!
