I hope you can find me! I went to post in the old thread but it had reached its limit.

Here's to an energetic, fit, healthy, and strong summer ahead.

Thanks for reply!
Did you need all 3 MRIs to even get a diagnosis? What exercises does physio have you do? There are tonnes of physio videos on youtube.

I don't do weights I noticed my shoulder was much worse after carrying a heavy bag (like this pic) so I won't do that now. Seems like impingement syndrome although not a perfect match for symptoms.

Upper body exerciseI really only do swimming (only front crawl), which often has made my shoulder feel much better, actually. I'm mainly effected in bed, I can't comfortably lie on my right side any more, boohoo, which is annoying b/c I'm a natural tosser-&-turner.

Started maybe 2 yrs ago. I thought it was just muscular, been thinking it's something worse for about a year.

My physio wrote to my GP to request MRI. With hindsight she should have requested one MRI for three areas to find where the problem was coming from as that would have saved the lengthy process of diagnosis (which I still don't have). There are so many stretches that you'd have to have something specific for your issue and weirdly if you have shoulder pain it doesn't mean the issue will come from your shoulder, it may be due to something else (I get knee pain which is down to my glute in my bum!).

In good news today did combat live disc and totally nailed it. Easier than I thought it would be so maybe I'm not as unfit as I tell myself. Not good for injury twinges though.

Hi lljkk - sorry to hear you're injured. Hope you can still do some workouts to keep going

Roastie - re yearning to do workouts - I totally empathise. For years whenever I saw a nice path I'd think of going for a run on it or feel a bit jealous of runners I saw out. Was driving today in the drizzle and saw some runners and wished I was out there - I like the feeling of getting out there in the elements but then having a warm house to come back to. I did a 22hc double today. Strength 3 (urgh - with the stand up/lie down one) then cardio 2 (gorilla crawls/frog burpees). It's fair to say I was pretty thrashed at the end! Starting my long walk training tomorrow. Have 8kg in backpack and am going out early to walk for a couple of hours to get used to carrying weight. Picked up pack. It weighs a ton. I've got the fear a bit.....

yumyumpoppycat · 12/11/2016 20:30

lljk defo sounds like something you should get looked into.

Roastie well done on combat - fist bumps

Purple enjoy walk tomorrow, I think they should have a woman's version of that SAS course tv show on channel 4 - you would nail it for sure Grin Well done on hardcore doubles (I didnt even try a hell week!) - esp on stand up sit down (hate that workout!).

I did insanity max 30 sweat which I like but is a bit of a what the fuck workout! think I am very ungainly and lacking in technique - esp hit the floor tuck and wide fly in and out Confused think i maxed out at 4 minutes - but blaming fact central heating was on Blush

Have a great weekend everyone

RoastieToastieReastie · 12/11/2016 21:08

Purple those two hc22 workouts are my most hated on that program so mucho respecto to do them both together. The stand up lie down is the worst yet you'd think it would be easy! The fear is a good thing, means you're body is getting ready to do its best. Inn sure the thought is worse than the actual walk. How many km is the actual race (is it called race or trek or similar?) you are training for?

OP posts:
RoastieToastieReastie · 12/11/2016 21:09

Posted too soon, yumy hit the floor tuck side fly in and out sounds absolute killer.

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 13/11/2016 20:07

Was that max out sweat poppy (the mth 2 one)? That is a hard work out - I love it tho. The hit the floor tuck jumps are tough. I know I'm fit if I can get through them without maxing.

Can't remember who asked - roastie maybe - re max 30. You could just not do the tabata ones (3 of the 9) which have a lot of press ups in. The others all have some work in plank but you could modify maybe

Plan was to walk for 2hrs this am. Got out the door at 7.15am and managed 8miles carrying 8kg. Was a beautiful am which made it enjoyable too. My hips are hurting now which is weird - I find walking makes me ache in weird places. Overall felt good tho. I need to up the weight to 12kg next week and extend the length. It puts a bit hole in the day though - it's a lot less efficient than a Shaun t DVD!

Hope you all had a good weekend

Purpleraindeer · 13/11/2016 20:10

Oops roastie didn't reply to your post - I didn't mean to choose the worst hc22s to do the double with - I just realised what I'd done after the first circuit of each but then didn't want to bail out.
My race is c15miles with 1000m of climbing and a pack weight of 12kg. Finish times are between 3.5hrs Shock and 7hrs. From reading reviews I think the weather is the issue - conditions won't be good in Brecons on 1st wk in jan!

RoastieToastieReastie · 13/11/2016 20:58

3.5 hours Shock Shock Shock ?! Sounds like you did really well purple, hope next week isn't too tough with the upped weight. Just tell yourself that I (as in reastie!) used to lug around on my body over five times that weight every minute of every day although 15 miles at my heaviest would have been pretty dire. I find thinking about that puts things in perspective of just how hard physical movement is for people with a lot of extra weight, it they still do it. You can take that back pack off at the end! That portably doesn't help you at all and you'll think I'm being all strange about it as I didn't explain that well.

Insanity max 30 is on the Christmas list Grin .

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 15/11/2016 18:18

Well done Purple! I know what you mean about aching in weird places, today my underarms and under butt cheeks are aching Shock Think thats from doing a decent chalean yest. Yes i am on month2 so will do another strngth insanity tomorrow.

Roastie I am really excited you are getting insanity max 30 Grin but also gah as I am supposed to be doing hammer and chisel. Oh I meant to say also that if you just do the 9 main weights workouts from chalean that might be a good one for reintroducing weights, hopefully next year or so once you are at that point after treatment, as it is quite slow and steady in the main.

Purpleraindeer · 15/11/2016 21:00

I totally know what you mean roastie. I was wondering why when I used to walk around 12kg heavier why it felt hard with only 8kg in my back! I had aches in my bum cheeks today and yesterday. So weird. I guess it was having to support the weight?

Tabata strength today. I hate those press up holds. I always wimp out half way through.

Poppy - however do you get your under butt cheeks to ache???

Am glad to have another recruit to the max30 club roastie Smile

yumyumpoppycat · 15/11/2016 21:40

Purple I think it was from a bowler lunge squat thing. I am hoping its a good thing Confused Hmm

Its really satisfiying though when there is a bit of acheage though as I think that means something has happened.

Theromanempire · 15/11/2016 21:50

Just checking in - I love an ache, makes me feel like I have actually worked Hmm haven't had any real DOMS for quite some time now. Wonder if it is time for a change? But I do love Autumn Confused

yumyumpoppycat · 16/11/2016 23:17

Theroman are any of the hammer and chisel workouts an option?

I did the last strength workout from IM30 - I enjoyed the warm up. There were a LOT of pressups, I even struggle with trce pushups on my knees, tried but I really need to work on pushups.

RoastieToastieReastie · 17/11/2016 06:37

I'm probably being really thick here thermo but what's IM30?

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 17/11/2016 06:58

Fingers crossed Roastie with a better idea of what the injury is physio will work. IM30 is Insanity Max 30 - sorry I was being lazy!

yumyumpoppycat · 17/11/2016 06:59

Actually it took me a while to figure out what you lot meant when saying you had doms Grin

RoastieToastieReastie · 17/11/2016 07:14

Yumy when I kept reading it initially I had to google it Blush Blush

of course it's insanity max!

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 17/11/2016 21:41

That's good that you have a diagnosis roastie. how did you go at the physio?

Limped through Friday fight this evening. Felt like hard drill. Am now the master of just thinking 'one more minute, one more minute'.....

Purpleraindeer · 19/11/2016 16:32

Hope you're all too busy working out to post Smile

Max out cardio for me this am. Will be trying to do another walk with my pack at full weight tomorrow. Weather looks a bit wet tho and I'm a fair weather walker so let's see.....

RoastieToastieReastie · 19/11/2016 19:00

Sorry purple, just really hectic and struggling to keep up with bargain thread ATM. Well done on the workouts, they sound like you've been pushing yourself and working hard.

Well, physio has told me to limit my arm movements on injury side for a week including wearing a splint at night to stop me bending my elbow in my sleep. It's actually all a lot harder than I thought trying to not move my arm so much (I can move it but I need to keep my elbow close to my body and not over bend my arm in that position). She said give it a week like that to try to recover it after some work she did and then start exercises on it next week. I'm crossing everything and on the plus side it's a great excuse not to do housework.

Did a run today and did furthest distance ever (warning, this is still weedy) at 7k in 46 minutes. I could have kept going (the aim was 8k) but I had to get home for the supermarket delivery. Glad with the increased length though so something is going well at last. Maybe next time 8k and perhaps one day 10k. Thinking of making up my own workout tomorrow morning due to lack of arm movement. Going to write down some drills and maybe do them insanity style to time limit. Thinking I can still do things like football feet, sprinting on the spot, high knees, frog jumps, cardio squats etc.

Can anyone recommend me a heart rate monitor? I'm going to put one on my Christmas list. All I want it to do is have a chest strap rather than wrist measurement and be able to sync with an app so I can compare data etc. I'm so completely lost looking online and confused,

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 19/11/2016 19:34

Good luck for tomorrow Purple hopefully the rain will clear for you.

Roastie that sounds interesting about your treatment and at least its something different. Realy excellent about your progress towards 7 k.

I did Insanity round 2 fight night this eve. Got v sweaty and maxed out around 6 minutes but felt like I had achieved something at the end by finally having done all the workouts. It wasnt totally horrendous but I had to modify pressups and am not the highest jumper. Not 100% sure i have done the abs workout though so will tackle that tomorrow.

Have a good day tomorrow everyone, got to figure what to do with the kids as they hate going out in the rain but dp hates staying in.

Purpleraindeer · 20/11/2016 17:49

Well done on the 7k roastie. You're running at c10min miles which is a good pace. Don't put yourself down! I had a garmin forerunner with a heart rate monitor. Was a chest strap for the hrm and then a watch which did speed/distance etc. Was really good. Link to pc was a bit basic but I'm sure they're better now - mine was pre iPhone! Polar do good hrms too.

Well done on fight 2 poppy. I think that one is grim. My recollection is that the first 10mins are horrific but it gets better after that?

I did my walk. 12kg this time and could really feel it. Pack wasn't very stable and I think I didn't have it adjusted properly so I felt quite unbalanced. Ended up with awful hip pain and am limping a bit now. Was a bit of an ordeal frankly. Am glad I did it tho as made me realise I need to do a bit more training! I find I'm really knackered afterwards tho so the day is a bit crap and I feel like I'm then not having good family time. We ended up mostly just sitting around at home as I felt tired which felt like a waste of a Sunday. Might try doing it at the end of the day next weekend?

RoastieToastieReastie · 20/11/2016 19:04

Thank you for your kind comments. Purple I have a polar hr monitor which I've been happy with but it's ancient and doesn't sync with anything so I want a new one. I look up polar and get very confused and it doesn't help when Amazon reviews can be so varying.

Yumy well done on the work out, it sounds hard core!

Purple glad you managed to do it even if it was tough. How long have you got to train? If it helps often our week ends are just sitting around inside ATM! It's still family time and dd loves playing board games.

Did my own little made up workout today, bit like insanity pure cardio as in similar warm up and cool down (from my head as I've done it so much I can remember it) and 20 minutes of constant drills in the middle. I wrote a list and had a timer to count down a minute per exercise and tried to alternate plyo with agility type drills. I would have just done a workout but with modifying so much with my arm I thought I'd just plan my own not involving arm work. Was good but I need Shaun t there to tell me to go faster!

Hoping for step class tomorrow but dd is ill so may have to stay home with her in which case think I may try and sneak in a DVD but no idea which one is suitable given I'm trying to not move one arm. Any ideas?

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 20/11/2016 21:11

Could you do it at the end of saturday maybe if your not going out Purple, that way you have a chance to recover but also could still get family things done sat and sun afternoon? I actually loved the first 5 minutes of friday fight 2, down hill after that. My knees were really hurting yest eve - during the workout I got very sick of jumping towards the end. Shaun said it was his hardest workout - I havent done enough to know which would you say?

Roastie I am interested in a monitor too, I think in another year or so hopefully the perfect one will exist. Based on reviews I have read I would have gone for polar I think so will prob hold off now you say that. Have been reading about this on hot deals mi band

Hope you are well roman?

The dc did their emails to father christmas today which was quite fun, you get personalised email and or video back referencing things that they have asked for e.g, 'skates - what a wonderful gift but be sure to wear your helmet and safety gear'. Littlest dd loved it but elder DD was quite cheeky and put in the extra comments section 'please stop watching children when they are sleeping, I dont mean to be mean but its creepy' Shock, apparently the website publishes nice comments so that one might not make it on!

Didnt work out today - had mulled wine instead Wine
