I didn't get a place either Feet!

Might go for a charity place or to Majorca with my club if my DH allows it.

BlueChampagne · 06/02/2015 15:53

17.8 from me this week = 399.52. Ankle is now fine but lower back is grumbling. I think it's muscular, as every time I think I'm going to have to phone the osteo, it feels better. It was fine for quite a fast (for me) 7 miler this lunch time.

Sorelip · 06/02/2015 16:00

No Royal Parks HM for me either. I've just entered Hackney HM instead.

LaughingM · 06/02/2015 17:15

No for RP for me as well. I was going to go for a charity place but my top charity don't seem to have any places!! So unsure whether to pick a slightly less personal charity or go for a different run altogether.

Sorelip i'm very tempted by Hackney. May seems very soon though! I wonder if it will sell out and how quickly I need to make my mind up!

Good luck aggressive

Naicecuppatea · 06/02/2015 18:04

Is anyone allowed to join this thread please? I've just started running again after a couple of years' break, would be lovely to join you all!

cinnamongreyhound · 06/02/2015 18:09

Yes anyone and everyone who is running and likes to share their runs and chat about running, running clothes and at the moment the hideous weather! Welcome naicecuppatea!

2015 Running Thread Part Two
Naicecuppatea · 06/02/2015 18:25

Thanks! What got me back into it - I just went for a random Sunday am run totally out of the blue a few weeks ago and felt amazing while I was doing it, and realised how much I missed it! I think it was overall confidence and lack of time /motivation that stopped me for going for so long.

I got myself a Garmin a week ago (thanks to recommendations here) and love it! It really helps motivate me.

Anyhow enough of me. I've been twice so far this week (incl this morning) and 6.37 miles in total. It is getting easier! Planning to go either tomorrow or Sunday again.

Does anyone go every day? My plan is to try and go every other day if I get the chance to.

orangeflutie · 06/02/2015 18:46

Back from a very windy cold run this evening. Not the nicest but at least O got out. 4.8 miles plus Wednesday's run 4.06 = 9.14 total.

Hi to Naice and commiserations to those of you who didn't get into Royal Parks.

orangeflutie · 06/02/2015 18:47

Lol I got out who's O?

twobambinos · 06/02/2015 18:50

Goodluck tomorrow aggressive that's some distance in fairness.

Well done on the weight loss cinnamon that's amazing.
I wear shorts on the treadmill at home and no where else. Altho my legs are pretty good and nice and shapely but pasty white. So only look good if I have a pair of tights on.

Welcome to all the new joiners.

Does anyone else suffer with blisters? I have one on my foot from running funny while it was injured and the blister wont go it reappears when I run again. Any ideas oh wise ones.

Have a ten mile race next weekend so I'm going to take it easy this week not sure how much milage to do between now and then I think maybe a 10km and two 5kms will be plenty.

actiongirl1978 · 06/02/2015 19:11

Baby kimmi! Welcome to the thread, hope you don't keep mummy from keeping up with the mileage [ grin]

Nicecuppatea welcome. That's the lovely thing about the running thread, everyone is included. A bit like runners in general.

There was a man in the gym today doing some weights exercise and we were doing a little space Dane around each other. Anyway, I clocked his running tights and asics and I think he looked at my OnCLouds and t we both knew instantly that we were both runners. It was a silent unsaid thing, but sometimes you can just tell!

Has anyone got a pair of innov8s and if so do you rate them? I am looking for an alternative to my OnCLouds which have a 6mm drop, mainly to use in the gym, but to run shorter distances in. The Flite model looks good, but unsure, I think I will need to order online. I like a narrower toe box and I wear a 7 in the clouds.

SUzanne I know you wear a low heel drop what do you have at the moment and is it suitable for gym training too or do you wear flatties in the gym?

cinnamongreyhound · 06/02/2015 19:18

I had one with my new shoes when I wore them with socks that were a bit thick twobambinos. I just put a plaster over it every time I ran and eventually it didn't come back.

Yay! Congratulations on babykimmi, you'll have to have minikimmi and superminikimmi now Wink

actiongirl1978 · 06/02/2015 19:33

Two bambinos I don't get blisters touch wood, I wear more mile padded socks, they are super comfy. Maybe a more padded sock?

Aggressive good luck on your run. I would be a broken woman after that!

Sazorchard31 · 06/02/2015 20:39

Good luck aggressive, I am in awe!

postmanpatscat · 06/02/2015 21:22

No Royal Parks place for me or DP either. I think now there is only ohone left to report in and she might end up being the only one of us who is in it!

We are going to investigate charity places but were hoping to avoid having to raise megabucks.

Nice pic kimmi Smile

originalpiratematerial · 06/02/2015 21:23

Welcome naicecuppatea and congrats karatekimmi!

Suzannewithaplan · 06/02/2015 21:36

Naice, re frequency of running, general advice is to build up gradually in terms of overall mileage and frequency of training to give your body chance to adapt to the mechanical stress of running.

I run every other day

EdithDickie · 06/02/2015 22:21

Two I love zinc oxide tape for blisters, you can get a really good covering over the area and it sort of moulds to your foot. Only a couple £ from pharmacy.

Wow Aggressive! Good luck for tomorrow!

I have 12.3 miles to add today. From 3 runs (training for relay thing in May). 5.25 before work, 3 at lunchtime and the rest after work. All pretty good, no great speed but that's fine, working on the distance and time on feet for now.

However.... I have my first ever chafing injury! Ouch! On the side of my bum / hip. Have just put some moisturiser on it. Should I be doing anything else? It's so raw! I blame the freezing cold all day for not noticing until my skin had gone!

EdithDickie · 06/02/2015 22:23

Really sorry, am too zonked to attempt adding up and will try again in the morning - night all!

Suzannewithaplan · 06/02/2015 23:38

Actiongirl, for running I'm wearing brooks glycerine which isnt especially low drop.
Anything gym related I wear vibrams, it seems best to keep running shoes for running only, or am I just being superstitiousConfused?

Edith, your miles
12.30 +
402.62 =
414.92

Suzannewithaplan · 06/02/2015 23:45

I've not had any chafing (probably too slow to generate any friction :o) but plenty of feeling numb with cold, although simultaneously too hot.

As to how to treat it I guess let the air get to it but cover with some sort of dressing when necessary to prevent further chafing.

Not sure what time Aggressivebunting is racing but hope it all goes/is going well, I cant imagine keeping going for that distance Shock

is it common for baby scan pictures to resemble aliens Cinnamon :o

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 07/02/2015 00:05

Sorry to keep you waiting Smile I was unsuccessful in the Royal Parks HM ballot as well - never mind.

We need to add Sirzy's 2 and naice's 6.37 and flutie's 9.14 (I think)

432.43 I think
