I run all month too, but am noticeably slower at some times of the month. I ran an awful HM a few years ago when I had to keep stopping at the horrible portaloos (fortunately there were plenty along the route) to sort myself out. My moving time wasn't too bad, but my overall time was awful because of the queuing Smile

Possibly TMI, but running with a mooncup/tampon regardless of the time of the month is also supposed to help with mild incontinence while running, as it helps to support the bladder apparently.

actiongirl1978 · 21/01/2015 19:37

Thanks cinnamon and madthings.

Anglaise1 · 21/01/2015 20:36

Actiongirl, either do 40 minutes slow tomorrow or Friday with 10 x 100m long faster strides. Then rest Saturday. That is the sort of race preparation we do in the club, anyway! Tapering works so you aren't too tired for the race.

orangeflutie · 21/01/2015 20:53

Oops nearly forgot to update! Four miles from me today and didn't feel too cold here, though it was supposed to be 4 degrees.

Collapsed on sofa now with aching legs.

postmanpatscat · 21/01/2015 21:05

5 miles to add, which makes 1721.28 + 4 + 5 = 1730.28 (can you tell I'm a primary teacher?!)

cinnamongreyhound · 21/01/2015 21:13

And what did they say about your hair IKYTWTLYA? Wink

4.5 miles from me, not as cold as thought it was going to be despite car temp not getting above 1C today. Good company helps! 1734.78

actiongirl1978 · 21/01/2015 21:23

Thanks anglaise

karatekimmi · 21/01/2015 21:49

1742.78 Monday 3.2 and 4.8 today.

Goodness this thread moves fast!! Had Laziness last week and morning sickness all day but pleased I managed to run Monday and today. TMI but really initiated today, felt bloated and sluggish but nothing worked its way out!!

Wrt resting, I like to wait before I shower do I've stopped sweating (more in summer) but if I shower straight away, then I'm still sweating when I'm dressed.

cinnamongreyhound · 21/01/2015 21:59

Did you manage your 9 mile run the other week karatekimmi? Sorry to hear you're sufferinh with morning sickness :(

HalleLouja · 21/01/2015 22:10

3.5 miles to add here makes 1745.48.

The other day I bathed straight after a run and ended up with really red skin. It was all over. So now I wait a bit before getting in the bath.

HalleLouja · 21/01/2015 22:14

Action I have been known to run better the day after the night before. I once got told off for being like a Duracell bunny afternoon after the night before.

clary · 21/01/2015 22:28

3.5 miles tonight so that makes it 1748.98. Cold again but felt really good :)

IKYTWTLYA · 21/01/2015 22:31

Blush Cinnamon I was like Hmm What about my hair - it took two goes to spot the ridiculous auto-correct fail. Obvs: GAIT analysis.
my hair's shit, don't need someone to tell me that!

Just saw this article in relation to the periods convo earlier: www.theguardian.com/sport/shortcuts/2015/jan/21/menstruation-last-great-sporting-taboo?CMP=fb_gu

MuseumOfHam · 21/01/2015 22:50

3.1 tonight = 1752.08

When I'm running and eating properly I get less period pain (my pain is a mild form of IBS linked to certain points of my cycle). Don't like the mechanics of running on heaviest period day, but will do it if I'm in the right frame of mind.

IKY I bet your hair' s lovely.

cinnamongreyhound · 22/01/2015 07:38

Sorry couldn't resist IKYTWTLYA Wink it's an autocorrect I've had many times but my phone knows gait now!

AggressiveBunting · 22/01/2015 07:41

Another 10 from me this morning - 1762.08

I'm having motivational issues with this 50k race. Should be doing longer runs really but just cant make myself.

Suzannewithaplan · 22/01/2015 08:36

Combining distance running with strength training can be a bit of a tall order Bunting?
although in some ways one makes a nice change from the other.

AggressiveBunting · 22/01/2015 09:44

That's the thing- I like the variety. I think I'm just having one of those weeks. We're in the middle of schools admission assessments for my eldest DC, which is a bit stressful, plus work's really busy. Once I get the other side of Chinese New Year I'll hopefully become invigorated.

emummy · 22/01/2015 10:35

Had to force myself out the door this morning, it was foggy and -4! Did it though, and the sun came out. Just 2.7 miles but quite fast (for me)
1764.78
Think may miss long run this week as taking dd to cross country on Sunday, about an hour's drive away, and Saturday is packed too.

HesterShaw · 22/01/2015 12:00

Absolutely wonderful day here - not a cloud in the sky and it feels warm! I felt warm anyway, but I was running along the coast path past lots of people in coats, scarves and hats! 3.1 miles from me this morning we still count the whole distance if we walked a bit of it don't we?

Main problem for me now is getting really warm and a niggly hip. I'll have to get some cooler stuff to wear, in more ways than one :)

Does anyone else run along sometimes wondering what to do with their hands? Confused

HesterShaw · 22/01/2015 12:01

1764.78+3.1 = 1767.99

Anglaise1 · 22/01/2015 12:13

17 miles from me, 2 hours 40 minutes so average of over 10km per hour so OK. Started off at 0°C and the sun didn't make it out so it was only 3°C at the end, my hands were still cold.
Aggressive I hope you get your motivation back. I like doing different routes all the time to make the long runs more interesting, and if I'm not running with a friend (like today) I load up on audiobooks to listen too.
I only do one long run a week, the rest of the training is usually 2 hours max with the club combining warm up runs with intervals or tempo runs.
Rome marathon 2 months today!

Anglaise1 · 22/01/2015 12:14

Whoops, new total 1784.99

Mitchy1nge · 22/01/2015 12:19

ooooh 2 months!

my head is full of marathon stuff

struggled today, I guess it just happens sometimes? felt much more effortful in terms of pace and distance even though both well within my range - am hoping when Garmin connect decides to work that there will be some impressive (for moi, in east anglia Blush) elevation gain or something

anyway 10 and a bit + 1784.99 = 1795

TheSkinnyProject · 22/01/2015 12:24

Another 3.2 miles to add from my dark, icy, early morning venture.

So difficult to get going in the cold but feel great afterwards.

1798.2
