Mitch -re muscles speaking up. I believe they do, it's just we runners are not very good at listening Wink

Mitchy1nge · 13/05/2014 15:52

it is very slow but thank you for asking :)

KristinaM · 13/05/2014 15:55

You sound a bit frustrated

Mitchy1nge · 13/05/2014 16:00

god yes

will live vicariously through what's left of our edinburgh marathon 'team' though :) not long now!

Blatherskite · 13/05/2014 16:33

Mitchy you don't have to blog unless you want to be part of the competition for freebies at the end. Some people use Twitter as their blog and just do 140 characters every day. I'm sure if you're on here, you can manage a couple of paragraphs though :)

originalpiratematerial · 13/05/2014 16:53

The stretches I always do are calf muscle and soleus, hip flexors, hamstrings, and a few cat stretches for my back.

Mitchy1nge · 13/05/2014 19:26

oh

didn't know that when I created MYMADFATRUNNINGDIARY which may not be a prize winning name but I could always change it and start again

Fishandjam · 13/05/2014 19:26

I'm supposed to do calf and soleus stretches 3 times a day. Note "supposed to" Blush

postmanpatscat · 13/05/2014 19:35

Evening all...3 miles this evening brings our total to 572

Stretching? What's that?

RhondaJean · 13/05/2014 20:03

Brite that sounds familiar, my calf goes rock hard and then my foot goes numb, soleus stretches it is.

I would like to do juneathon. I'm away to Dublin from the 23-25th though do you think walking would count, we always walk miles when me and DH visit anywhere?

originalpiratematerial · 13/05/2014 21:14

Is juneathon like Jantastic?

originalpiratematerial · 13/05/2014 21:48

Ah, ok, I've googled it and answered my own question - it's a bit like Jantastic but looks more fun!

officelady · 13/05/2014 21:49

3.5 miles tonight so the total is now
575.5

Forgot to stretch afterwards so I'm feeling it in my calves now - oops

originalpiratematerial · 13/05/2014 21:51

I also find the blue foam roller is good for calves, and indeed all sore/tight bits although doing your ITB on one can be agony, as well as a good core workout!

They sell a kind of spiky version in Runnersneed but I've never tried one of those.

Morrigu · 13/05/2014 22:16

3.2 to add from yesterday so 578.7. Meant to be my first attempt at intervals but gave up on them half-way through.

Theonlyoneiknow · 13/05/2014 22:28

Not a good run tonight!!! The heavens opened and it was torrential rain two mins after DP had dropped me off to run home!! I was drenched and after about 2 miles went past my dad's house for a lift home. My little MP3 player got soaked and stopped working along the way and I had my new brooks ghost trainers on and they were squelching, arghghghgh

Peeved!!!! Soaked!!!!

cinnamongreyhound · 14/05/2014 07:15

That's really rubbish TheOnlyOneIKnow! I hate running with wet feet :(

I thought there was jantastic and janathon?

vladthedisorganised · 14/05/2014 07:42

Sounds like my Saturday run theonlyone! Thouhh I ended up doing quite a respectable distance (since Dad was out); it did scupper any chances of running on Sunday or Monday as my trainers were still soaked!

AmberNectarine · 14/05/2014 10:29

I've no idea what the total is but I've 3.1 miles to add from an interval session on the treadmill yesterday lunchtime.

Degustibusnonestdisputandem · 14/05/2014 10:36

Oh dear, I am rubbish at keeping up with this thread!

Hope all those injured get better soon Smile

I have been rather lazy the past few days and not run since Saturday Blush hopefully I'll be able to get out tomorrow evening. Gym tonight, as DH will be late home.

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 14/05/2014 11:21

583.8 now, not counting whatever theonlyoneiknew ran.
I'm winding my runs down to 2 miles max. Am hoping that a podiatrist will help with my gait so that I can learn to run pain free over time, but I prefer to err on the side of caution, thinking it's not worth pushing too hard and causing damage.

MelanieCheeks · 14/05/2014 12:35

I'm using my enforced sedentary state to tidy my photo collection, and catch up on my parkrun blog.

Mitchy1nge · 14/05/2014 12:53

how has garmin upset you degustibus?

Melanie your blog is so cool! I am staring at my new one which is a blank space set up for juneathon, but nothing is magically appearing on the screen yet :(

Blatherskite · 14/05/2014 13:33

3.5 sunny miles for me this lunchtime. So 587.3 now

vladthedisorganised · 14/05/2014 14:07

3.6 miles for me this lunchtime - so 590.9
