blathers thank you for the encouragement!

tess that's out of order of them, but I totally agree with what briteside said. I do suspect there would be an element of jealousy in their reaction! Don't let it get to you. I'm sure I look a right sight running and I did freak a bit when I saw a photo of me on my sponsored run in April - but so what.

ThursdayLast · 12/05/2014 19:51

Adding my 4 miles, going to round that number though.
New total 549

RhondaJean what do you do to warm up? I usually just walk as briskly as I can for five mins but I know that dynamic stretches are good as well.

RhondaJean · 12/05/2014 19:56

Apologies for the pedantics Blush but 542.48 plus 3.1 plus 4 is 549.58 or I could go with 549.6

I have jsut been walking as well but I need to do more, about a mile in my calf was locked and was agony and I had to stop and try to stretch, it was about a mile more before I ran it off. I may need to see a Physio, I've been doing more Thai boxing as well and it causes very tight calves so I might need them worked out.

originalpiratematerial · 12/05/2014 19:58

Ooh ouch, sounds horrible. What do you do post-exercise by way of stretching? At one stage I was doing a calf stretch but not stretching my soleus - do you do that?

Also find the occasional sports massage a very effective if totally agonising way of breaking down the knots Grin.

Fishandjam · 12/05/2014 20:43

Checking in with a pathetic 2.6 miles. Possibly the shittest run ever. My shins started hurting before I'd gone a km, I was having to run heelstrike as it hurt less but obviously that's harder work, the farmer has cropped right across the footpath so my feet got sodden AND they haven't cleared the field boundary crossing so I had to push through waist high brambles (haven't been that route for a month or so)...even the iPod shuffle was coming up with a right load of unsuitable crap.

And breathe...

Really, really need to sort my shins out Sad

Blatherskite · 12/05/2014 20:44

Oh no Melanie Sad Did they say how long you'd be out of action for?

4 miles for me tonight should be easy to add on - 553.58 Got home and refuelled with a fish finger sandwich. It was amazing. Problem is I could now happily eat another. Must resist....

RhondaJean · 12/05/2014 20:44

I don't do enough warm up or cool down Blush

Would anyone have a routine they would be willing to share?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 12/05/2014 20:48

Melanie so sorry to hear you are off your feet. I hope you heal up soon.

cinnamongreyhound · 12/05/2014 21:04

No doggy run for me tonight, only two of us who could actually make it and the other person was tired from 15 miles yesterday and I could really do with a rest day as my hamstrings are very tight, I'm struggling to bend down!

Fishandjam · 12/05/2014 21:23

Oh dear melanie, sorry to hear about your ankle. Hope you heal quickly!

Ha, I put some Tiger Balm on my sore shins and my cat is going squiffy over it Grin

Mitchy1nge · 12/05/2014 21:36

poor Melanie Flowers

I have 2.7 to add, my feet are so cold and wet, might try running on The Road tomorrow

Mitchy1nge · 12/05/2014 21:37

556.28 ?

Mitchy1nge · 12/05/2014 21:43

talking of waist high brambles I have to negotiate this on every run and it was all slippery with the leaves dripping rainwater all over me this evening

lucky the spaniel enjoys getting wet isn't it

Melanie - hope you heal soon Thanks

Less rain today, but still plenty of wind though. 8.64 miles to make the new total 564.92

Fishandjam · 12/05/2014 22:02

That looks very similar to my run m1tchy. Do you end up with 6 inches of clay on every sole too?! I don't think I can go that route again; can't really run it at all at the moment, until I pick up the road 2km in. I've been in touch with the local authority in the past about the brambles and they always say they'll sort it, but it never is. A pity because it's a nice off-road route otherwise (there are precious few round ny way, despite being in the countryside).

CardiffUniversityNetballTeam · 12/05/2014 22:16

Another 3.2 miles from me so 559.48.

Sorry to hear so many of us are injured and attacked by rogue vegetation and abused in parks. Who'd have thought running could be such an extreme sport?

My ankle is still "hurty" as DS would say. I have bought an insole from Boots to try before I get new shoes fitted. I should probably try and rest up for a few days too. But I really like running. Sad

Mitchy1nge · 12/05/2014 22:18

yes fish! does this look familiar?

cinnamongreyhound · 13/05/2014 08:21

I had an ok run this morning, we met the annoying dog that follows us periodically, I heard his owner whistle so waited for him to catch up then my big dog seemed to clip the little one as he ran past and she was a pain in the bum from then on! Can't find a mark in her and she's been a loon since we got home with her toys Angry. Anyway another 5.5miles from me taking total to 565miles nicely rounded up and a pair of very wet feet!

cinnamongreyhound · 13/05/2014 08:23

Oooo and I've found this awesome gel tubigrip thing that I put over my big toe and it's so much better, it's from boots if it might help you with your dodgy toe blatherskite.

Fishandjam · 13/05/2014 09:28

It does indeed mitchy!

originalpiratematerial · 13/05/2014 09:32

569 including my run this morning Smile

originalpiratematerial · 13/05/2014 09:33

Melaniecheeks sorry to read about your injury

originalpiratematerial · 13/05/2014 09:34

I've got my Garmin sorted now and the nice thing about it is that it keeps excitedly telling me my new PBs, which of course aren't anything of the kind Grin

originalpiratematerial · 13/05/2014 09:35

Mitchy and fishandjam - do you run the same route??
