Quite right Thursday.

I did parkrun with a cold today and a mild hangover, I thought I would jog around slowly at the back but found myself bombing around the course and might even have PB'd. Goodness only knows how that happened.

Had a good park run today. Perfect running weather, cool and overcast. Ran best time for 10 months ( but still one minute slower than my PB )

Have a 10k next weekend and my very first HM in 3 weeks, so an easy week now, only about 50km.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 03/05/2014 14:04

Well done Kristina.

I didn't quite PB, but since my plan was to pootle around at the back with my runny nose and headache I'll take it Grin.

Hope your 10K goes well.

Well done Kristina and OhOne.
I did pootling today too, and it makes barely a jot of difference. The blasted hill evens it all out!

It felt v friendly today, chatted to a fella doing some pr tourism who told me that Lanhydrock IS hilly. I'd love to do a flat one to see how fast I could go

cinnamongreyhound · 03/05/2014 16:58

I tail ran today as I have my hm tomorrow and ds1 was supposed to come with me but changed his mind and I went alone :(
Quite a quick tail run though 35:43 but very pleasant nonetheless!

Well done OhOneOhTwoOhThree!

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 03/05/2014 17:42

Woohoo! Took part in parkrun for the first time. Considering I've only been running 3 or 4 weeks I was really pleased just to turn up and be taking part. Managed to knock 5 minutes off previous attempts at running around the park, trying not to walk too often. Very pleased with my 36:something. Grin

RedHatNoDrawers · 03/05/2014 18:00

Hello, I did my second parkrun today, a lovely sunny day for it! I run there and back too as I'm lucky enough to live only 2 miles from my local one Smile

RedHatNoDrawers · 03/05/2014 18:04

YeGods that's an excellent time for someone who's been running for so little time! Well done Grin

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 03/05/2014 18:12

Should I mention years of swimming, weight loss and hiking? (nah)

I'm really impressed that you ran an extra 4 miles to get the your parkrun, Red. Very impressive!

ThursdayLast · 03/05/2014 18:13

Well done red and yegods. Are you addicted now???
(I am)

RedHatNoDrawers · 03/05/2014 18:15

Trying to make the most of otherwise dead time! We take the dcs swimming at 10.30 and tend to just laze about before that so this is a much better way to fill the time Grin

YeGodsAndLittleFishes · 03/05/2014 19:09

I will try to go every other week when DH is home, but on the weekends he isn't here, it depends whether the DCs need lifts. I do really want to see if I can run that much on my own now, and see if it will become any easier.

Blatherskite · 03/05/2014 20:02

I told you it was hilly Thursday! You'd fly round a flatter course.

Conkers was lovely today. I struggled with my hayfever and it took a while to get through the crowd at the beginning but it was good fun and it was lovely to be out in the sunshine.

More tourism next week - we're thinking maybe Huntingdon. Is that where you are Eau?

Blatherskite · 03/05/2014 20:03

and Well done red and yegods. I dragged a friend of mine who loves locally to parkrun today. He seemed to enjoy it so I really hope he keeps going

thenightsky · 03/05/2014 20:07

Ran my lungs off today. Was only 1 second off my PB. It was packed so took me 10 seconds to get to the start line after the whistle blew.

I love these new shoes... no tired crampy calves at all today.

KristinaM · 03/05/2014 22:12

Well done to all the new parkrunner and welcome to the family .

I would do

Flywheel · 03/05/2014 22:33

Another newbie here if it's ok to join. Started running a few months ago and just finished my 3rd parkrun. I'm really enjoying the running, but just hope I can keep the momentum going. I've scanned through the thread, and it's really encouraging seeing so many C25K graduates still going a couple of years later.

Morrigu · 03/05/2014 22:44

First parkrun today here too. Been registered for months but I've only got up the nerve to do it now since I finished c25k a few weeks ago. Don't know what I was worrying about - loved it. Was well chuffed to hit 26 minutes odd as it's about a minute faster than I was expecting, my usual time at a push.

Lots of cameras were out - not looking forward to the photos going up Grin Going to make a point of trying to make it every other week now.

thenightsky · 03/05/2014 23:24

26 is bloody brilliant. Well done!

EATmum · 03/05/2014 23:57

Can I join you?
Been running for nearly 2 years, half-marathon in March but lost my running mojo a bit after that and needed a new focus. So today I did my first Parkrun and I'm a convert! So much fun.
My local run is massive (Bushy Park) but really well organised and friendly. I wish I'd found it sooner ...

ThursdayLast · 04/05/2014 07:56

Hello Morrigu Flywheel and EAT!
Well done all of you!

There have been a lot of pictures posted on FB of yesterday's parkrun here, thankfully I'm in the background of only a couple.

Blathers, thank you for the vote of confidence!

MelanieCheeks · 04/05/2014 08:06

Well done all! I managed a pb yesterday, thanks to less wine being consumed the night before. Note to self - do something on a Friday night that requires me to drive.

My usual venue's run is cancelled next Saturday, so I'll be doing more parkrun tourism.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 04/05/2014 08:27

Morning all, lovely to see old and new faces Smile

Glad to see you are back up and running nightsky Smile

Congrats on your PB Melanie Smile

We had a photographer last week Thursday. He managed to position himself so that he snapped everyone at the half way point, and again at the finish. I like looking at the photos because I think that I know most of the parkrunners where I go, but when you have a look you realise that there are loads of people you have never noticed and don't recognise Smile

I would love to try Bushy Park EAT Smile

Welcome Morrigu - that's an AMAZING time Smile

Flywheel C25K is fantastic isn't it. That (and a MN support thread) changed my life a few years ago Smile

Hello Blathers I need to look Conkers up on the map Smile

Love the way you are sneaking in the extra miles Redhat Smile

Welcome yegods, brilliant improvement Smile

GOOD LUCK CINNAMON

Conkers was about an hour and a half drive for me OhOne Blush

I made up for my addiction by making it a trip to visit friends too and dragged one to the run and another 2 out for brunch afterwards. :)

cinnamongreyhound · 04/05/2014 18:07

Well done YeGodsAndLittleFishes, Morrigu and Melaniecheeks!!

Hi Redhatnodrawers and FlyWheel.

EATmum!

I had a good race today, doggy was a superstar and had quite a few people asking about running with her plus the one you always get moaning about someone running with a dog! It was tough, almost no road and mainly tracks like I'm used to in the forest but lots of sand and also 4-600m of shingle which was a killer!! We stopped at 5 drink stations for doggy drinks and to wet her to try and keep her cool and I slowed down quite a bit on the last very sandy 1/2-1 mile but I think we finished in around 2:07. Also there were quite a few 6 mile walkers who I had to pass some were more considerate than others. Really enjoyed it though and will definitely do it next year, never been so dirty after a race either, shoes full sand and filthy everywhere from the dust!
