I keep threatening to do Wolverhampton, Walsall and Shrewsbury as they are all near to me but haven't been bothered to get out early enough yet.

I find as a fattie pushing a toddler normally eating something in a pushchair it often spurs people on to run a bit more!! Grin not that I'm that fast

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 03/06/2014 18:18

We have a fit Dad buggy runner who zooms around, and another loud parent Dad who pushes his child around in what looks like a bike trailer. (Loud parent because he was doing mental maths with her at the briefing last week).

You may find Northampton goes a bit green on Saturday Standingonlego. They're planning an invasion Wink

I'd come only it's running wife's 100th so I'll be running at MK with her. I will be back though and then we can meet up!

Lollipop, if you go to parkrun.org and find your parkrun on the map, you can go to the course page* and then 'results' (at the top right) and see all the finishers for last week (and the weeks before if you want) They'll all be listing with their times and ages so you can scope out the competition before you go if you like :)

*or go straight to parkrun.org/^your parkrun^/course/ if you're feeling flashy :)

Blatherskite · 03/06/2014 18:34

By your parkrun I mean 'northampton' or 'wolverhampton' or 'miltonkeynes' etc. Sorry, that wasn't clear.

Blatherskite · 03/06/2014 18:35

ignore the ^s. It seems mumsnet is ignoring them occasionally today

originalpiratematerial · 03/06/2014 18:58

I am roaring with laughter at Blathers' post about the sandwich-munching toddlers roaring past!

originalpiratematerial · 03/06/2014 19:01

Back when I used to do fast walking more than running I did occasionally overtake someone jogging. I bet I couldn't do it now though - out of practice!

Standingonlego · 03/06/2014 20:17

blathers we are already going green. It is Bob Emmerson's 100th parkrun on saturday - he is in his 80s and a absolute inspiration for us all. We are all going to run dressed as Bob - his signature top is green :)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 03/06/2014 20:18

That sounds brilliant lego

we will get to finally meet on Sunday anyway blathers and good luck to your running wife :)

Blatherskite · 03/06/2014 23:04

Finally going to bed now having spent my whole evening trying to work out the parkrun results updates.

I haven't even started on the volunteer emails!

I wasn't even RD this week!!

ThursdayLast · 04/06/2014 12:57

Haha, I didn't see those posts about Lanhydrock!
Honestly kristina, that picture makes it look glorious. It's a deceptive bitch Grin
On Saturday the race director laughingly asked regulars to describe the course in one word to newcomers.
"Flat"
Blathers those stats are amazing! Good luck with all the admin, I salute you all.
lego what a lovely tribute to someone.

LollipopViolet · 04/06/2014 19:06

OK, I am postponing my first park run :( because of the very nasty weather we're supposed to be getting over the weekend. I get about on buses and don't like being out when it's torrential rain - makes me nervous.

However, I WILL go next weekend if the weather is better. Promise.

RedHatNoDrawers · 05/06/2014 16:41

I've not parkrun for a few weeks due to other commitments, so looking forward to going again this week. I had hoped for some pr tourism as I was away for half term but there is no pr in either Bognor or Chichester, so I couldn't. if someone could set one up for next time I'm down (july) i'd be grateful Grin

Blatherskite · 05/06/2014 18:27

Today I've washed all the volunteer bibs (they stank!) and sent out the list of t-shirts we have waiting. Going to do the volunteer reminder email in a bit. Just need some coal for this steam powered laptop Wink

The weather forecast is cheering up for Saturday - and Sunday - at least. I might not have to spend the whole weekend in wet running gear. Hooray! Was getting quite annoyed that I'd spent £70-odd on tickets for DH, the kids and my Mum to come to the zoo with me and they probably wouldn't want to be there.

feetheart · 06/06/2014 06:10

Blathers - forecast for Sunday at the zoo is 20-21C now, bring the suncream :)
Though also bring more clothes than you think you will need as it is always colder there, especially round the penguins which is very exposed.
Getting excited now :)

Blatherskite · 06/06/2014 09:31

Ooh a hot one! This is only going to make my Garmin/Capri short tan lines worse!

The penguin bit might be quite nice on the way round :)

Is anyone going for a time? I'd love to PB as I haven't raced a 10k for over a year but I'm running really badly this week Sad

cinnamongreyhound · 06/06/2014 09:56

I did better last week than I have for a few but I don't think it's a pb week, my mileage has gone down a lot the last few weeks!

Standingonlego · 06/06/2014 09:56

I am so not ready for the stampede - not after a PB this time, just hope to not fall by the wayside and be eaten by lions Grin

Standingonlego · 06/06/2014 09:57

Bit worried about DS1 and DS2 getting round the 2km - they are sprinters and might just sit down and sulk after 200m !

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 06/06/2014 10:01

Grin at thought of you all running around the Zoo on Sunday

I am running on the clifftops tomorrow. Can't wait Grin

OP posts:
feetheart · 06/06/2014 12:15

I have only ever run a full 10k once before about 2.5yrs ago as the Flitwick one this year was cut short so was only approx 8.5k. I really should beat that time (66:20) and am going for approx 60mins.

:o at sprinting/sulking children.
DS should last the 2k as he beat me fair and square at last year's 5k Santa Run Shock- he is 8 but a very determined child Shock Tell them constantly about not going off like mad things at the start like almost everyone else will. Tortoise and hare, tortoise and hare...

To repeat my post on the other running thread - the mobile reception at Whipsnade is WOEFUL. Don't rely on it if you are meeting up with people before or after the race.

feetheart · 06/06/2014 12:16

ohone - that looks like a nice one.

originalpiratematerial · 06/06/2014 16:10

Hoping to do my local parkrun again tomorrow, which will be the third time there and fourth parkrun altogether Smile

If your HM training plan (which you've just restarted) says 4 mile run, is it ok to do parkrun and then run home to take the distance up to 4 miles? Or will it not count as a proper 4 mile run if I stop to get my barcode scanned and all that?

cinnamongreyhound · 06/06/2014 16:20

That's fine originalpiratematerial, or if you're worried and not bothered about a time run a mile to parkrun and jog about until the start :)
