Who fancies 10km of mud and obstacles? Come and join Team Wolef

Quite a few of us are interested in doing the Wolf Run this September so we were thinking of getting a team together.

It's for all abilities, it should be really good fun. It's not timed and it'll be too wet to wear your Garmin, so don't worry if you're not a fast runner. We'll be a team and no Wolef will be left behind.

It's on the 6th & 7th of September just south of Coventry, so fairly central. If we get a team together we get a slightly discounted entry.

If you're interested, post on here and we'll start making a list.

We also need to pick a charity so if everyone wants to suggest their favourite one and then we can argue about it for ages with no firm decision being made.

So, I'm in and my favourite charity is the Birth Trauma Association.

@EauRouge

beautifulsoup, you've got the exact athletic credentials that we're looking for Grin

Team Wolef:

EauRouge
Tiredemma
Mitchy1nge
feetheart (depending on GNR ballot)
OhOneOhTwoOhThree
Blatherskite
Standingonlego
GeekLove
thenightsky
wileycoyote
jellybrain
starsandunicorns
beckyboo232
Rollermum
BellsaRinging
OneHandFlapping
beautifulsoup

Will we have Mumsnet on the team t shirts? Because we'll probably have to ask in case Justine sues us or worse, bans us.

Promise not to sue or ban (for this, anyway Grin). Best of luck all.

EauRouge · 21/01/2014 12:42

Yay! Thanks, Justine Thanks

Tiredemma · 21/01/2014 13:10

Lets roll!

GeekLove · 21/01/2014 22:10

This means we really ARE committed!

Mitchy1nge · 21/01/2014 22:11

thank you Justine :)

love that video EauRouge! is someone going to make one of us? Grin

BellsaRinging · 22/01/2014 07:31

YAY! Thanks Justine!

Eau, to answer your question from some pages back (sorry) it's not those ones I have, it's the kinivara ones, but they don't seem to be on as good an offer as they were when I got them. I have done a couple of runs in them now, and like them, but went 1/2 a size up on the recommendation of some of the reviews. If you are using that site, though the cods NRS114 should get you free delivery and 10% off.

Also about the t-shirts and medals. I don't know if you get a medal but if the proliferation of t-shirts at my local park run are anything to go by you do get a t-shirt.

Again, from knowledge gained from friendly park runners the application for the next run seems to open after the one before it-so I am assuming June, but we'll have to keep a look out-I think it does get booked up very quickly. We'll have to work out how to book a group and pay individually or something. Any ideas?

EauRouge · 22/01/2014 07:40

Shall I email them and ask about how we book? I think paying individually is going to be the easiest way, unless we send paypal all to one person and then they run off to Brazil with our money pay for everyone.

I checked and you do get a T shirt, that's why they tell you how to get your T shirt measurements right. I will feel so incredibly smug running around in my Wolf Run T shirt Grin

Thanks for the code! Come payday I will be getting some new trail shoes and hitting the trails near me. When you ordered half a size up, is that from your normal shoe size or your running shoe size?

If someone made a Wolf Run video of us, it would probably be titled 'look at these inept women trying to get out of a lake', and it would us all sliding around trying to get out and pissing ourselves laughing. Or one person saying they are stuck and the rest of us shouting 'you are being unreasonable'.

Tiredemma · 22/01/2014 10:15

Good idea eaurouge

IM currently on maternity leave and trying to survive on SMP. I dont feel I could be trusted with Wolef Funds- I fear we may see a similar situation to when Arthur Fowler stole the Walford Christmas Club money on Eastenders.

Mitchy1nge · 22/01/2014 12:23

please can I not be the person in charge of the money

jellybrain · 22/01/2014 13:08

Just spoken to someone at WR HQ:
We can register up to 30 people for a pack.
To qualify for a free place sets of 5 must register together using the same payment card.
1st 10% to register pay £39, next 70% £44, then final 20% £48
The best way to make sure you get early notification is to follow on FB - reg is likely to open in 4 or 5 weeks.
If some of the Wolef pack know each other and are happy to sign up in a group of 5 that would be cool. Others could just add themselves and pay the full wack.
I am happy to register a pack and let you know our code as soon as this is available.Grin
Failing that could we get MNHQ to register us if we all gave our details and paid them in advance?

thenightsky · 22/01/2014 13:16

jelly... the last option sounds the easiest if MN towers don't mind.

jellybrain · 22/01/2014 14:05

How do we get in touch withMNHQ. Does someone need to 'report' the relevant post?

EauRouge · 22/01/2014 15:08

Yes, reporting it is the quickest way. Not sure if Justine will want to stick us all on her credit card- there must be a way of doing a joint paypal account or something? Or if it's all via paypal isn't it protected anyway?

OP posts:
jellybrain · 22/01/2014 22:01

I suppose it boils down to how keen people are to reduce the cost. May be easier to get registered as soon as the list opens to at least get in for £39 rather than £44 or £48.Grin

wileycoyote · 22/01/2014 23:50

Training update:
Monday: Swam half a mile (not wearing shoes or in mud)!! Smile
Tuesday: Cycled to work and back - 20 miles! Smile
Today - I sat at my desk and walked to the kettle and back several times!! Grin
Tomorrow: Plan is to go for a 5k run with a rather keen chap who I don't know very well who asked me to via facebook Confused

Tiredemma · 23/01/2014 08:59

Tomorrow: Plan is to go for a 5k run with a rather keen chap who I don't know very well who asked me to via facebook

Bloddy hell- I know you're keen but dont feed yourself to 'the wolves' Grin

jellybrain- I have the $$$$ as soon as registration opens

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 23/01/2014 19:24

jelly - thank you very much for checking out registration.

I know blathers and lego so can vouch for them Grin (and have "spoken" to nightsky on other threads), and would be happy to register a group of 5 on my credit card - if people are interested in being one of the 5 let me know Smile

I am sooooo excited Grin

EauRouge · 23/01/2014 19:40

How protected is Paypal? I think if you sent someone money specifically for a service/item and you don't get that service/item then you can claim the money back. So if we've all got paypal then in theory we should be fine, even if there are criminals amongst us.

Has anyone not got Paypal?

OP posts:
Tiredemma · 23/01/2014 19:51

I don't have an 'active' PayPal. Happy to send my money though to anyone.

jellybrain · 23/01/2014 20:10

Can I be in your group ohoneohtwoohthree - I'll pm you with my RL identityGrin and I could send you a cheque prior to the registration opening or even in the next week or so. You might want to pm your response I don't want you to feel you're being put on the spot and I can handle a noWink

Blatherskite · 23/01/2014 21:06

I'd like to be in your group OhOne. At least you know where to find me if I don't pay up Wink

We're coming to you this Saturday I think if you're going to be around?

wileycoyote · 23/01/2014 22:10

I survived my run with strangeblokefromfacebook. I did actually know him a bit before Tired Emma Weirdly about 5 minutes later I then had some sort of allergic reaction and have just come back from A&E after being administered steroids (really!)

jellybrain · 23/01/2014 22:37

O dear Wiley were you allergic to smffb? Are you ok now. Btw think you're nickname is fab for a trainee wolf, may have to change mine to something more appropriate. Chose the original one when pregnant with dd and she's 9 this year Grin

BellsaRinging · 24/01/2014 07:22

Hi oh one-can I be in your group? Unless you have too many now? Am happy to paypal you the money over before you make the payment...

Training here is not going so well. Have only run once this week, so will have to blast park run tomorrow and have a longer run on Sunday...
