Who fancies 10km of mud and obstacles? Come and join Team Wolef

Quite a few of us are interested in doing the Wolf Run this September so we were thinking of getting a team together.

It's for all abilities, it should be really good fun. It's not timed and it'll be too wet to wear your Garmin, so don't worry if you're not a fast runner. We'll be a team and no Wolef will be left behind.

It's on the 6th & 7th of September just south of Coventry, so fairly central. If we get a team together we get a slightly discounted entry.

If you're interested, post on here and we'll start making a list.

We also need to pick a charity so if everyone wants to suggest their favourite one and then we can argue about it for ages with no firm decision being made.

So, I'm in and my favourite charity is the Birth Trauma Association.

It's going to take me about 2 hours to get there, and I'm picking up Fish on the way. 12 should be fine for meeting, we're aiming to get there for an hour before the start time so hopefully will be all registered by noon.

I have some safety pins and card at home, from which I could fashion a "Wolef" badge. Or I might even have some plain white stickers I could write "Wolef" on. Could others do similar so we can recognise fellow Wolefs? Stickers/badges can be removed once we're all gathered!

As for where to meet, I have no idea what the site is like, but I can guarantee there will be toilets and a registration desk. The desk will probably be mobbed, could we loiter in general vicinity of toilets (or does that look dodgy?!)

Fishandjam · 04/09/2014 22:50

I like the sticker idea! Easier than a Mumsnet scarf Grin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 05/09/2014 08:15

That all sounds good to me. I am going to leave my car at Blathers's house in MK and travel with her. feet-that might work for you too, just to save on the number of cars we take?
I am really looking forward to this, despite my aches and pains and general levels of unfitnessGrin

feetheart · 05/09/2014 11:04

If there is room for me that could work well and at least I will have found 2 of you! Not sure how much mud Blathers wants in her car though :) Also not sure about my ability to navigate round MK.
I can come with cake though :)

Blatherskite · 05/09/2014 11:19

I live a whole 3.4 miles away from the motor way junction. There is very little MK navigation to be done so you'll be safe feet :)

And I'll take DH's car Wink

feetheart · 05/09/2014 11:30

:o Blathers
Just seen forecast - 18C and sunny. Hot Wolefs :)

Fishandjam · 05/09/2014 14:46

I'm sure the mud will cool us down.

Blatherskite · 05/09/2014 15:45

It works for Hippos Wink

I should think a lake swim/wade and a thick coating of Warwkickshire mud will keep us nice and cool. 18 degrees is a nice temperature to be doing it in I think.

I'm planning on taking a bin bag and a spare set of clothes with me on Sunday. Once we're finished, I will strip off the worst of the muddy bits into the bin bag and replace with the clean, dry stuff for the drive home. Let's face it, as a runner, it's not the first time I will have stripped in a car park :) Although if there is anything less grim than a portaloo available, I might change in there too and save the other WOLFs from my stretch marks and wobbly bits.

standingonlego · 05/09/2014 16:33

I am still negotiating childcare due to slight hitch with MIL & FIL arrangements. Thank heavens for friends....I know it will get sorted :)

feetheart · 05/09/2014 16:49

So, as far as I can work out the MN Wolefs are:

Ohone
Blathers
standingonlego
feetheart
Fishandjam
BigFootFiles
Geeklove
Crockery
Zeitgei5t

Is that everyone? Please add your name if I have missed you out.
Need to ensure we are able to "count them all out and count them all back in again"

Blatherskite · 05/09/2014 17:19

Are we making 2 "packs" or are we going to attempt to go round all together?

standingonlego · 05/09/2014 18:03

Hooray. Lovely friend has agreed to have both my boys for the afternoon :)

standingonlego · 05/09/2014 18:04

I know Eau is a regretted loss from my team due to injury:(

Let me check the others now....

standingonlego · 05/09/2014 18:16

It is WileyCoyote who is awol for my original pack - PMing her now.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 05/09/2014 18:18

Bellsa and Jelly are missing from mine. Hope they are both OK. m1tchy has been in touch to say she can't make it Sad

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 05/09/2014 18:20

Didn't wiley post under a different name to say she could no longer come?

standingonlego · 05/09/2014 18:20

Maybe they will surprise us and appear on the day.

And has anyone had anything in the post? Should I have anything [confused}

standingonlego · 05/09/2014 18:21

Ahhhh.....I think you may be right OhOne I have the memory of a sieve Blush

Blatherskite · 05/09/2014 18:28

Nothing in the post, just the e-mail via OhOne.

Right, kit list so far goes:

Pre-run

Trash-able top
Oldest Sports Bra
Washed out old capris
Least favourite pair of running socks
Expendable trail shoes
NO GARMIN!
Signed waiver

Post-run

Towel
Bin bag
change of clothes
drink

Need to work out what's happening with a bag drop as I could do with leaving the car key somewhere dry as it's an electronic one. Do we need cash do you think?

Blatherskite · 05/09/2014 18:31

There is a key drop :) Sorted.

It says yes to cash in the e-mail too.

There are hoses, HOSES! for "freshening up"! Rock Solid Race put on hot showers!

Blatherskite · 05/09/2014 18:51

OhOne and feet - We start at 12:40, we need to be there at least an hour early according to the email (11:40) and it takes an hour to drive there according to Google (10:40) How much time do you want to allow on top for getting lost for meeting up with people??

Shall we aim to leave here at 10am?

Blatherskite · 05/09/2014 18:57

In fact, we need to be registered at least an hour before we start so we might want to set off even earlier.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 05/09/2014 20:18

That works for me - I can leave any time on Sunday am. Can you PM me your post code please so I can work out how long it will take to get from home to you?

BigfootFiles · 05/09/2014 20:26

Oh, you're right - we have to be registered an hour before and allow twenty minutes for registering, so that's on site by 11.20 at the latest.

Blatherskite · 05/09/2014 21:38

So 9:45 OhOne and feet?
