Who fancies 10km of mud and obstacles? Come and join Team Wolef

Quite a few of us are interested in doing the Wolf Run this September so we were thinking of getting a team together.

It's for all abilities, it should be really good fun. It's not timed and it'll be too wet to wear your Garmin, so don't worry if you're not a fast runner. We'll be a team and no Wolef will be left behind.

It's on the 6th & 7th of September just south of Coventry, so fairly central. If we get a team together we get a slightly discounted entry.

If you're interested, post on here and we'll start making a list.

We also need to pick a charity so if everyone wants to suggest their favourite one and then we can argue about it for ages with no firm decision being made.

So, I'm in and my favourite charity is the Birth Trauma Association.

Sorry, thread seemed to disappear from watch list.

Geek - if it's not too late I'll have to drop out of the t-shirt as well, really can't justify £20

Off to find Facebook group and annoy people there :)

Did some push-ups and plank last night for first time in several weeks - I'm not going to develop superb upper body strength in under 2 weeks am I?

Need to get a stretchy thing to hold my glasses on

GeekLove · 30/08/2014 11:02

Having checked the prices - £20 was rather higher than I thought I was going to get them done for. The demand is not sufficient so I don't think I can go ahead with the T-shirts.

Thanks for all your support though!

See you all next week!

Fishandjam · 30/08/2014 20:12

I had a look online for fancy dress wolf ears (as discussed upthread a while back) but most of the stores appear to have been cleaned out! Maybe others have had the same idea Grin

GeekLove · 30/08/2014 23:00

Hi! can someone PM me details for the JustGiving Group? I need to stir up enthusiasm at work - 1 week to go!

BigfootFiles · 31/08/2014 19:47

Do we have a Justgiving group page for fundraising? Could I be PM'd too if so? Otherwise I'll crank up my own page in the next day or so - time to start bugging people!

Fishandjam · 01/09/2014 16:08

I set up a page but it's got my name on - not a group one (didn't know you could do group ones).

BigfootFiles · 01/09/2014 16:44

Looks like you can either set up a team page which is just a regular fundraising page that lists all of the teams names in the story section, or you can set up a team page which sort of acts like a hub for individual pages - justgiving.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/200669511-A-guide-to-team-pages.

Given we're 5 days shy of the event, shall we just do our own pages? I think we need a bit more detail to be able to do a team page properly, e.g. how many of us are there in total, why that particular charity, what it means to us etc. It's feeling like more hassle to do that than set up an individual one.

The downside is we won't have an overall total but I don't think MNHQ are expecting a joint total or anything, and we're not running in anything MN branded so I don't think we're "answerable" as such.

Fishandjam · 01/09/2014 20:02

Sounds a good plan!

standingonlego · 01/09/2014 22:02

I lost you all for some reason, but back now!
Geek thank you for all your vision on the t-shirts, was just not to be this time. The real WOLF T-shirts look ace by the way :)

I am really looking forward to meeting everyone on Sunday :)

feetheart · 02/09/2014 08:37

Oh, lordy! I've just been watching the videos of previous runs again and it's sinking in Shock

Off to buy a 'holdy-on' thing for my glasses - really can't manage without them and am now fretting.

Like the t-shirts though. If I turn up to parkrun in one of those will they think I'm hard :)

EauRouge · 02/09/2014 09:57

I'm so gutted about not being able to do this :( but I can barely run a mile so I'd be stupid to even attempt it, right?

I know I'm not coming but I still owe someone my entry fee! Who do I need to give the money to? I can't remember.

standingonlego · 02/09/2014 10:02

I think it is me Eau :( Will send you the details (though I feel awful having to do so when you can't come). I know that we cannot switch details but I know someone who might be able to run as you and cover your entry fee? crockery it is the lovely wolf veteran you meet at the weekend :)

Has anyone had anything through the post? I have just had e-mail so far - do we have to register / check in on the day?

EauRouge · 02/09/2014 10:06

If you can find someone to fill the place then that would be fab, not just because of the money but also I hate the thought of a place being wasted.

standingonlego · 02/09/2014 17:58

Let me see what I can do Eau - leave it with me :)

Blatherskite · 02/09/2014 18:56

Just bear in mind that someone running a race under someone else's name and number would not be insured.

standingonlego · 02/09/2014 21:27

Had not thought of that blathers :(

Blatherskite · 02/09/2014 23:39

I spend far too much time with Race Directors.

I'm not expecting to get injured at the WOLF run but I'm guessing it's a lot more likely than at a regular road race.

Fishandjam · 03/09/2014 08:59

I'm not bricking it about Sunday yet. My head tells me I should be.

Blatherskite · 03/09/2014 09:11

I'm not bricking it either. This is going to be fun :)

standingonlego · 03/09/2014 17:43

We Are going to have a brilliant tone!

standingonlego · 03/09/2014 17:44

Time evenHmm

feetheart · 03/09/2014 23:04

Do we have a meet-up plan?

standingonlego · 03/09/2014 23:26

Not yet!!!

I will be travelling with crockery from Northampton, about a 45 minutes journey for us.

Our start time is 12.40...so should we aim for a high noon 12.00 meet up? All cars to be parked, bags etc to be dropped off by then, so we can just spend the time gossiping and being all confident Grin

However, I am a just in time type of person - you might all want to be there at 6am for all I know ! Good news is that crockery is WAY more prompt than me so I shall be there in good time. Parkrun peeps were astonished to see me at 8.40 last Saturday morning Blush

Blatherskite · 04/09/2014 09:33

55 minutes for me and I'm bringing OhOne and possibly another Wolef too.

feetheart · 04/09/2014 09:57

Going to take me about 1:15 according to the RAC.
I'm happy to pickup/drop off anyone in the Herts/Beds/Northants area. My car is old and messy so more mud won't make much difference :)

High noon sounds good to me though I will probably be a bit earlier as I can't do the 'just in time' thing.

Next thing - where to meet and how to recognise each other?
