Who fancies 10km of mud and obstacles? Come and join Team Wolef

Quite a few of us are interested in doing the Wolf Run this September so we were thinking of getting a team together.

It's for all abilities, it should be really good fun. It's not timed and it'll be too wet to wear your Garmin, so don't worry if you're not a fast runner. We'll be a team and no Wolef will be left behind.

It's on the 6th & 7th of September just south of Coventry, so fairly central. If we get a team together we get a slightly discounted entry.

If you're interested, post on here and we'll start making a list.

We also need to pick a charity so if everyone wants to suggest their favourite one and then we can argue about it for ages with no firm decision being made.

So, I'm in and my favourite charity is the Birth Trauma Association.

They've had them in the past but I read that previously when people have fallen off the marshals have let them through as long as they do a monkey impression. Now that I think I could nail!

GeekLove · 15/06/2014 14:46

Hello folks - here are some more lovely pictures for my planned tshirts!

On a different note I think we should start a JustGiving account - it will make it easier for people to sponsor us. Any takers.

ALso would people want their MN names on the back of their tshirts as an additional option?

They are great Geek Love the wolef ears one :)

Definitely need a 'Justgiving'-type page though think we have to decide on the charity first :) I can't remember the suggestions now though I put forward Winston's Wish who I always run for if I do a sponsored event. Happy to run for another one this time if that is the consensus.

Fishandjam · 15/06/2014 21:20

I love them geek!

As regards charity, one suggestion upthread was the Birth Trauma Association? I tend to support Action On Pre-Eclampsia or the National Autism Society, but am unbothered on this event.

At least after the Hunts 10k today I know I can actually run the distance without keeling over!

GeekLove · 17/06/2014 11:06

We need to vote for charities:

Birth Trauma Trust
Bliss
Winston's Wish
National Autism Society 1
Action on Pre-Eclampsia

If people can add a 1 next to their charity of choice then I will set up a JustGiving account. I think the actual specifics have changed recently in that we all need to make a profile - some of my colleagues have recently completed the London-Brighton bike ride and used JustGiving.

Also can I put Mumsnet on the shirts? I think we have permission but I want to check?

GeekLove · 17/06/2014 11:09

I mean re-post with additional 1's next to choice - if everyone does this I will select the choice with the most votes.

Gah can't believe I only just spotted this thread! I am probably going to do the September one, will keep an eye out for the Wolef runners.

I did the April one this year, it was bloody ace, and in fact I am wearing my wolf runner top right now as am about to go for a trot in the sunshine

Nobody* does the monkey bars....they are impossible

*all right, apart from the odd fit young man

feetheart · 17/06/2014 12:57

Come and do it with us aquavit, the more the merrier. Fishandjam has the pack code. Go on, you know you want to :o (and we need a bit of experience on the team to go with the challenges we face in height, eyesight and age :o)

aquavit · 17/06/2014 13:00

Thanks feet I have to check some dates before I can commit but if I can I will! I'm tall but extremely blind so I should fit in ok Grin

feetheart · 17/06/2014 13:06

That's both you and me covering the tall and blind criteria aquavit :o
I also fill the ancient old one so plan to be grey wolef :)

standingonlego · 17/06/2014 16:08

Look at what I parked behind at last weeks parkrun :)

I will do some more formatting to get front and back pieces for the tshirts - can people let me know who is interested so I can get some idea of numbers.

Votes so far:

Birth Trauma Trust
Bliss
Winston's Wish 1
National Autism Society 1
Action on Pre-Eclampsia

feetheart · 18/06/2014 09:10

I definitely want a t-shirt.

Do you have anywhere to get them printed because if not I may have a contact?

BigfootFiles · 19/06/2014 21:54

For me on a personal level, it would be Bliss or the National Autism Society. But I don't mind running for any of the others. Maybe we should put the charity name on the T-shirt too, once it's decided?

Are we having Wolef names on the back, or MN user names? If the former, the tallest member of the pack should be Big Bad Wolef, surely. Grin I should probably be Dire Wolef, going on today's monkey-bar shambles - though I am reassured to hear lots of people struggle with it, thanks aquavit.

GeekLove · 20/06/2014 19:41

I will be checking out printers in Coventry but will also check out the suggested contact - will post with more information soon.

So far we have:

Birth Trauma Trust
Bliss 1
Winston's Wish 1
National Autism Society 11
Action on Pre-Eclampsia

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 06/07/2014 20:30

Sorry - fell off the thread. I would love a tee shirt and have no particular preference for charity.

EauRouge · 07/07/2014 09:09

I'll go with NAS if that's the majority. I'm hoping I'll be less injured by the day, but I might be quite slooooow. And I still haven't given anyone any money. Who do I need to send it to? I've forgotten.

Well done Geek!

GeekLove · 11/07/2014 13:09

Are people happy with the following?

So far we have:

Birth Trauma Trust
Bliss 1
Winston's Wish 1
National Autism Society 11
Action on Pre-Eclampsia

BigfootFiles · 21/07/2014 12:29

How's everyone coping with exercising in this heat? It's so humid and horrible, it is not inspiring me to get out there and run!

Zeitgei5t · 23/07/2014 14:16

Do we need to decide on one charity or could we set up a couple of justgiving pages or do that bit individually as it looks quite spread across the board?

Geeklove I will have a tee if it's not too pricey. Also saw you're in cov, whereabouts? I'm on the canley side.

Bigfoot its not too bad at about 5.30 am (!) I have to run before the little one wakes. When does everyone else get chance to exercise? Struggling a bit to fit training in.

EauRouge · 23/07/2014 15:27

I'm happy to do either, but I still need to pay someone for the entry fee and I can't remember who! Lego? OhOne?

Still not been running but I've been working on my core and upper body loads and I'm starting to look really badass.

GeekLove · 30/07/2014 07:41

Right!
Quotes I have got for t-shirts are £7.5-£10 per shirt.
I was thinking light blue or red for the T-shirt with the artwork in black and white.

Can people PM me with their approximate size if they want a tshirt? I need orders in by the end of next week!

Also how is the charity voting? I want to set up a Just Giving account.
