Who fancies 10km of mud and obstacles? Come and join Team Wolef

Quite a few of us are interested in doing the Wolf Run this September so we were thinking of getting a team together.

It's for all abilities, it should be really good fun. It's not timed and it'll be too wet to wear your Garmin, so don't worry if you're not a fast runner. We'll be a team and no Wolef will be left behind.

It's on the 6th & 7th of September just south of Coventry, so fairly central. If we get a team together we get a slightly discounted entry.

If you're interested, post on here and we'll start making a list.

We also need to pick a charity so if everyone wants to suggest their favourite one and then we can argue about it for ages with no firm decision being made.

So, I'm in and my favourite charity is the Birth Trauma Association.

Wow did 2 miles of mud in a 10 mile run - respect due guys!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 29/03/2014 23:44

Are you joining us Blue? It's only 10K Smile

thenightsky · 29/03/2014 23:49

I should have stopped completely when the calf strain was first diagnosed and rested it properly

What did i tell thee month ago eh?

When do entries have to be in for this. I know my physio said I'd be mad to try given my degenerative spinal thing, but I'm getting hopes up again now.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 30/03/2014 00:02

Entries haven't opened yet. So you still have time Grin. And if you want to go for it, you just need to send me a PM with your name, DOB, email address and tee-shirt size so I can register you as part of our pack Grin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 30/03/2014 00:03

feet thank you for the link, is it wrong of me to be relieved that my local sessions are sadly on the days that I'm at work?

I am still doing the push up challenge Smile

Mitchy1nge · 30/03/2014 20:28

Blush in future I will listen thenightsky

EauRouge · 31/03/2014 09:29

I didn't do any push ups or planking yesterday but I did run 4 miles and then spent 3 hrs digging in the garden, so can I be let off? I will do it today before I get started on more digging. I downloaded an app and it says to do sets of push ups- how is everyone else doing it?

OP posts:
EauRouge · 31/03/2014 10:43

Right, I've started using the apps on my phone and I did a 40s normal plank and 40s side plank on each side. Then I did 20 push ups but as 5,4,6,5 with breaks in between- is that cheating? It says it's building up to 50 consecutive push ups.

Mitchy1nge · 31/03/2014 12:13

I am doing it very lazily, we look at the 30 day challenge pages and if it says 9 then I just do 9

have been going through a phase of not feeling like going to the gym to do weights but to be fair by the time I have mucked out and lugged hay and water around and groomed and ridden and all the rest of it I just want to eat before the evening routine - I am getting the occasional walk when I've finished in the morning but otherwise am fairly inactive by my standards

Fishandjam · 31/03/2014 16:54

thenightsky, I have a degenerate spine too Grin I'll crock along with you if you're up for it?

Fishandjam · 01/04/2014 12:42

I am woefully behind on my planks and things. But now my shin splint has healed and I am cleared to return to running (wahey!) I am going to bootcamp today for the first time in about a month. I am going to huuuuurrrrt tomorrow...

EauRouge · 01/04/2014 13:05

Oh, that's good news about your shins. I haven't done my plank or push ups yet today. I went for a trail run this morning and I'm aching all over from all the digging I've been doing over the last couple of days (still have more to do). I will probably do it later when DD1 is at Rainbows.

Been in Mexico/America for 2 weeks this March and looking foward to getting back into a routine. Hotels had a gym with free weights but still America put on 2kgs! Will take more than a week to get rid of that!

Still I did 20kg kettlebells for a circuit (swings/squats) for the first time yesterday and I did 1 whole pull-up!

Anyone else find the monkey bars the worst obstacle? I'm fine with the rope nets and the swimming but its the monkey bars that I am dreading!

Also when we do it will we aim to keep in pairs at least so we can help each other. If we form a bigger pack over the race that's great but we should'nt feel too much pressure to stay as one big group. Any thoughts?

feetheart · 02/04/2014 10:43

Re-started plank and easy press-up challenge last night as got lost very easily when date didn't fit where I was on plan (easily confused :)) Got DH to join in too so have competition which is A Good Thing.

Am trying very hard not to think about specifics yet in a 'bury my head in the sand' type fashion. There is plenty of time for panicking that later on :)

Mitchy1nge · 02/04/2014 10:58

I still can't do a 90 second plank

would have felt very confident of that before, grrrr, the push ups seem easy peasy so far though

GeekLove · 02/04/2014 22:41

When does the entry for September open? Also DH is planning on running with a mate as a 2-man pack!

linkainka · 03/04/2014 21:53

I'd be up for it. When have you decided to do it?
How do I register? Xx

GeekLove · 04/04/2014 21:13

Registration is not open for September yet. If you google WOLF run you will find the website. I think the plan is that we will split into groups of 5 for the actual race day ballot.

GeekLove · 08/04/2014 23:09

This thread has gone a bit quiet - hope no-one losing interest. I am surprised at how well known the WOLF run is - its getting some attention at work. And DH has found a pack to run with!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 09/04/2014 19:08

I haven't lost interest Geek - just been very busy, and it's still quite a while away Smile

GinAndToast · 10/04/2014 09:03

Me! I fancy it. I have fancied it. I have fancied it for a while.

How wonderful to discover a whole thread on it!

Am I too late? Who do I PM?

EauRouge · 10/04/2014 09:31

No, you're not too late! I don't think registration will open for another couple of months. I forget who the group leaders are but we're dividing into groups of 5 to register altogether because the 5th person gets in free, so that'll save us a few quid each.

Can anyone remember who it is from MNHQ that's a runner?

OP posts:
GinAndToast · 10/04/2014 12:37

Wonderful!
I am tall, if that helps! And I like running and getting muddy Grin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 10/04/2014 18:30

I am a group leader and have space for one more wolef in mine as tiredemma has had to drop out due to a clash that weekend. PM me if you want to join up Smile

GinAndToast · 10/04/2014 19:28

OhOneOhTwoOhThree have PMed you. I hope...

Or some other random MNer as on my phone...
