Quite a few of us are interested in doing the Wolf Run this September so we were thinking of getting a team together.

It's for all abilities, it should be really good fun. It's not timed and it'll be too wet to wear your Garmin, so don't worry if you're not a fast runner. We'll be a team and no Wolef will be left behind.

It's on the 6th & 7th of September just south of Coventry, so fairly central. If we get a team together we get a slightly discounted entry.

If you're interested, post on here and we'll start making a list.

We also need to pick a charity so if everyone wants to suggest their favourite one and then we can argue about it for ages with no firm decision being made.

So, I'm in and my favourite charity is the Birth Trauma Association.

Oh it's so not died out Grin

I think it was also related to one of the first Apprentice episodes when they had to sell wolf fleeces on QVC type channel.

Standingonlego · 09/02/2014 02:58

flockoftwats sutton - that is my ancestral lands, i went to school there :)

Mitchy1nge · 09/02/2014 11:05

ok I will bravely register a group (how difficult can it be?)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 09/02/2014 13:20

at ancestral lands

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 09/02/2014 13:20

Well done Mitchy Grin

Fishandjam · 09/02/2014 22:25

mitchy have just pm'd you.

What are the logistics for this - are we all getting there on the day, staying in a Travelodge (or tents), or what? Am happy to do a recce in that regard if anyone wants me to!

wileycoyote · 09/02/2014 22:48

Fishandjam I will need somewhere to stay, I'm coming over from Jersey!! Want to research where to stay?? I have no idea!!

EauRouge · 10/02/2014 08:23

We're just going to go for the day, Cov is only about an hour away. DH will probably make me ride back home in the boot which he will have lined with plastic Grin

Are we going to find a pub to go to afterwards or just stay at the race venue? It sounds like they're going to have some sort of refreshments. I'm happy either way.

Tiredemma · 10/02/2014 08:51

There is a travelodge in Leamington Spa (nearest town)

Eaurouge- I think I will have to go in the boot also. Trying to convince DP to come along to cheer me on but he lost the will to live waiting for me at the finish line of the Great North Run in torrential rain two years ago. When I found him he had one of those foil blankets wrapped around him. It has put him off supporting me in any practical sense!

feetheart · 10/02/2014 10:04

Morning Wolefs.

Right, I'm in. Didn't get into GNR so I can now officially be a wolef :)
What do I need to do as haven't really been paying attention Blush?

Standingonlego · 10/02/2014 10:09

Hi feetheart - you need to PM MitchyInge with your wolef stats so she can register you as part of Wolef gang 3 with fishandjam and not sure who else...!

Standingonlego · 10/02/2014 10:11

Wolefs staying in Leamington (fishandjam, Wiley) - I am driving over from Northampton on the actual day but can come and pick you up from the hotel and take you back after. I lived in Leam for a year whilst at Uni so know my way around it ok.

Standingonlego · 10/02/2014 10:13

Leamington is nice by the way, old spa town. Small but some nice shopping and plenty of tea & cakes places....and quite a few pubs :)

Standingonlego · 10/02/2014 10:14

Gosh - should have done ONE post...I am quite happy to hang around after race for refreshments, replays but guess we might need a change of clothes Wink

feetheart · 10/02/2014 10:30

MitchyInge - have pm'd you.

Mitchy1nge · 10/02/2014 18:20

eeeeeep still need two more people I think?

and I really don't know what to do with the information so far, can I register the group of five in dribs and drabs or does it have to be all in one go?

will it become clearer after some [vino]?

EauRouge · 10/02/2014 18:42

I think it has to be all in one go. Probably the best thing to do would be to send an email to everyone in your group as soon as entry opens and then get them to paypal you the money straight away. Or we could do it before that so that you've got the money ready to go?

I really haven't thought this through Grin

Mitchy1nge · 10/02/2014 19:01

it's ok, I trust people to pay me back

am so relieved registration isn't open yet Grin bit scared of fucking it up somehow, but will relax with some knitting and wait for the rest of my group to emerge

Hello team Wolef!

Sorry for the silence, it's been an interesting few weeks. So I was getting on very nicely with my C25k until my knees started to hurt. I stupidly carried on running anyway and for a few days I was in so much pain I couldn't even walk up the stairs. Then just as I was lacing up my trainers ready to get back out there I was struck down with a D&V bug that absolutely wiped me out for over a week (interesting when in sole charge of a particularly active 9 month old baby).

I am now very nearly back to fighting fit and my husband returns from his many trips away this weekend so I'm back in the game.

On the knees issue, does anyone have any advice? They are a weak spot in our family...my Grandma had both knees replaced and my Mum has just had new hips. I was fitted for my trainers at Birmingham Runner and they worked brilliantly up until now, my joints use to ache a little but not like this. I always run on grass and I'm really careful about warming up/down and stretching. My right knee is now permanently making a very interesting crunching/creaking sound, especially noticeable when walking up or down stairs.

Maybe my trainers are too old? Maybe I am just too old?! I'm around a stone overweight but I was heavier when I was running before I fell pregnant…

feetheart · 10/02/2014 21:32

beautifulsoup - sports physio would be my suggestion. My knees decided to play up after a few years of running. I plodded on for a while, resting when they hurt until I eventually got fed up and went to see a physio. She recommended inserts for my ordinary shoes (due to flat feet!), exercises to strengthen/stretch things and new running shoes. It sorted out the problem and got me through the Great North Run 2 months later :)

beautifulsoup · 10/02/2014 22:11

Thanks feetheart! Luckily enough my SIL is a sports physio so I'll have a word with her and see what she recommends!

beckyboo232 · 11/02/2014 11:04

Hi all Grin sorry for disappearing it's been a odd few weeks. So relived I haven't missed this. I haven't caught up properly but I'm happy to join any 5 still needing people - Grin
Was planning a long walk this morning but it's tipping it down again! Grrr need sun.

Blatherskite · 11/02/2014 12:11

I've been quiet too. I helped out at marathons on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday last week and was a bit over running by yesterday :)

Will hopefully be back tonight though if this cough sods off and the weather forecast is right and I can get out in a dry spell.

EauRouge · 11/02/2014 12:21

Motivation is hard to find in this weather! My HM is 2 weeks on Sunday, if it doesn't get cancelled due to flooding. Haven't even tried my new trail shoes yet- Parkrun keeps getting cancelled and I'm too worried to go through the woods in case I get flattened by falling branches.

Standingonlego Thanks for the offer of a lift from the travel lodge. Very kind of you. I will gladly accept. Sorted!! I will get in a bin bag on the way back if you like to avoid contaminating your vehicle!!

Am excited!

However - on the matter of wol(e)f fleeces you'alll. NOOOOO!!! It is very very wrong!! I might have to 'lose' mine in the lake!!
