I thought I had better start one seeing as no one else has.
Please add your updates, whether it is a New Year's Resolution to get fit or you have been here for the long haul!

I have just had two days off due to my lower abs being hugely painful, thing I must have pulled something the other day.
Hopefully back on it after the child goes to sleep.

Hope all is going well for the rest of you and you are all eager to go again when the kids are back at school. My poor DS1 starts back today!

L1 day 6 done. Push-ups getting easier but still on my knees! I find the cardio in the first circuit the hardest, bizarrely....

Day 4 Level 1 done. Arms still v sore! Floundered like a fish out of water during push-ups. Cardio improving already - no rest breaks during jump rope today Smile
Regarding rest days - I do count them as part of the 30 days as long as I don't have more than 2 per week. Rest days are important for muscle recovery - at least that's what I'm telling myself!!

D4L1 completed
I ache slightly less and I'm finding some of the exercises a little easier. I love the cardio, but find the jump rope still makes me breathless.

I managed two 'grown up' press ups then reverted back to "Anita style"

Well done everyone - keep posting - it really helps knowing other people are also doing this.

Hello everyone. Can I join you please?

I shredded about 18 mo ago and it was fab but didn't keep it up!

Have decided to redo. More for toning than wt loss. So level 1 done today.

L1 D3 done, think legs / hips may be slightly less achey today. Feeling inspired by this thread (have never made it past 2 weeks nor past level 1 on previous Shred attempts) and determined to finish it this time.

lakeflypie you are at the same point as me. I promise to see it through if you do! I'm having a rest day every 5th day though to let my body recover.

Hello Shredders!

L1D2 done - easy on the jumping as my joints and feet ache. Hopefully weird post baby ligaments will normalise soon.

LakeFlyPie · 06/01/2014 09:45

That sounds like a challenge JR
I'll try my hardest, not sure what I'll do about rest days, think I'll save them for days when a 30 min Shred slot doesn't present itself or if I go for a swim.
Have also been planning to do C2 5K and have realised if I Shred for a month then I should be quite a bit fitter/ stronger / generally more able and the evenings should be light enough ( but also dark enoughGrin) to starting lumbering around park when DP gets back from work.
Sounds like a plan, just got to stick to it which is usually my downfall

I'm going c25k after the shred too lake.

Not a challenge as such but just thought that if i see on this thread that someone (you) is at the same stage as me and still going, it might help and vice versa!

Day 7 for me and just finished my first go at L2, wow that was tough, definitely going to be hurting tomorrow, but good to get into some different exercises as I've done L1 quite a few times before this.

OK, I'm back - L1D1 done (for the 3rd time).

Someone mentioned they find the first cardio set hardest - so do I, its too much jumping using the calf muscles at a time for me I think. So I'm swapping the jump rope and butt kicks over - that way I can do them all without stopping.

Great to see so many shredders.
L1D1 of Ri30 done here. Lots of new moves for me to get used to but quite a gentle start which I appreciated.

Right, I took another break yesterday as my knees are so painful. I've been awake since 3am as they were hurting while just lying there. I think I've got some real problems with hypermobile joints. But I'm pretty sure the gp won't do anything.

Anyway, as I see some of you have already said how hard the cardio is on lv1 and I'm finding the strength and abs relatively easy I think I'm going to try lv2 tonight.

I would love to run. It looks like so much fun.
But I don't think I should entertain that idea until I strengthen my knees and improve cardio.

If your joints are that bad, maybe you need to see a physio. Please don't do moves that you think are exacerbating the problem. If its the jumpy cardio ones, find alternatives - eg look at L3, boxing with weights might suit better.

DH swears by cod liver oil, not a miracle cure but its good for you anyway so maybe try that too?

WhereAreMyShoes · 06/01/2014 13:25

Thanks Errol. I think you're right. I'm definitely not going to do any jumping from now.
I like the sound of boxing with weights. I didn't think to look at level 3 yet, so will watch them all and pick the best.

Maybe I'll check with my gp and see if they can help me. I had terrible spd during both pg and was fobbed off by midwives.
I also click a lot, especially my neck and back.
Feeling very creaky, but I am the heaviest I've been so that's adding to it.

L2D7 finished.
Getting there slowly, back to uni tomorrow though so don't know if I will fit it in for the next two days but will try when I get home.
Must say I'm not overly looking forward to Level 3.

WAMS, if you google 'low impact cardio' you may be able to find some more alternatives. There's a few ideas here - it mentions using knee supports - do you have something like that?

Mumtoh · 06/01/2014 14:42

Ok, L1D7 done, yay! Think I will have one more day L1 then go for L2.

Got my body balance class tonight too...

Report
Nightwish · 06/01/2014 18:55

Mumtoh do you find body balance good?

Blush I have a free gym membership because I work at one on reception part time (maternity leave atm), but I don't use it because it seems so awkward to actually get there and do anything with a 5 month old.
Considering trying some classes if I find time.

L1D4 done.
Felt harder today, no idea why. Had a go at Proper Pressups and managed 2 before going back onto my knees! I don't have the core strength and fear I'm going to suffer on L2 +3.

Hi everyone, I've just done L1 D1 for the 3rd time. I've never made it past day 15 before so I'm hoping that you'll all spur me on to finish the 30 days this time.

I'm combining it with the harcombe diet so hoping to lose weight and tone up. Am fed up of moaning about my body shape but not really doing anything about it Blush

Day 5 Level 1 done! Dare I say it - my arms ache a little less today. If I am pain-free tomorrow I am going to go up to 2kg weights (currently using 1kg). Famous last words ...

Report
PeppermintCream · 06/01/2014 20:42

officelady - you're at the same stage as me Grin

Just done D5L1 I also found it easier today. No aches last night. Managed to do proper press ups.

I was back at work today, so found it a bit more effort to make time/ motivate myself.

Report
ErrolTheDragon · 06/01/2014 21:00

Well done everybody. FWIW I reckon the press-ups in L1 are worse than the plank-based moves in L2.
