I thought I had better start one seeing as no one else has.
Please add your updates, whether it is a New Year's Resolution to get fit or you have been here for the long haul!

I have just had two days off due to my lower abs being hugely painful, thing I must have pulled something the other day.
Hopefully back on it after the child goes to sleep.

Hope all is going well for the rest of you and you are all eager to go again when the kids are back at school. My poor DS1 starts back today!

I think I will do a Sunday as a rest day but I think I will stick at level 1 for longer than the ten days before moving up to the next.

JRmumma · 03/01/2014 21:02

Can i join in please?!

I was going to save the shred for feb but ive had to cancel my gym membership so i started it today. I must admit i watched a bit of it on youtube a while ago and thought 'that looks too easy' but OH MY GOD im aching now!

Got my DH to do it with me too.

I haven't taken measurements but im hoping to lose 1.5 stones in around 3-4 months and am doing SW (sort of) too. If i can lose half a stone doing the shred ill be well happy.

Good luck everyone!

ErrolTheDragon · 03/01/2014 21:09

When I'm doing it (which I will next week) I just do the weekdays and have the weekends off. We usually do something active as a family on one of the weekend days. I've stuck to 10 days per level but there's no rule.

LakeFlyPie · 03/01/2014 22:59

May I join you?
Have done a couple of 7-10 day efforts at Shred before, never got past L1 though.
Did L1 D1 yesterday and feel like someone has shortened my thigh muscles today, it's those evil lunges.

Does anyone else find the cardio leaping about, especially star jumps (can't bring myself to call them Jumping Jacks) a bit challenging in the pelvic floor department? Blush

officelady · 04/01/2014 08:00

Day 3 for me today - and as I can't move my arms without wincing in pain, I have declared it a Rest Day. I'll be back to it tomorrow though!
This is my 3rd time of doing the Shred. I do love a bit of Jillian - last year I followed the shred with her Six Week Six Pack which was brilliant and gave me a lovely toned stomach. Unfortunately I've eaten loads of pies and done bugger all exercise since July so it's back to a wobbly mass again.
I did my measurements yesterday so I will record them here & compare at the end of each level:
Weight: 8 st 3lbs
Waist: 29.5"
Chest: 34"
Hips: 38"
Thigh: 20.5"
Fat: 31.3%
BMI: 22.4
Resting pulse: 80.
I'd ideally like to lose half a stone but more importantly get my BMI down to about 20.5 and my pulse down to about 70.

lobsterkiller · 04/01/2014 08:54

Woke up and I feel stiff as board. I went to the cinema last night so sitting still hasn't helped either. Please tell me that it's working?!

Also woken up feeling a bit like I'm getting cold probably lungs starting to clear.

TravellingLemon · 04/01/2014 09:40

L1D2 complete Smile

Could feel myself starting with excuses..but got a grip and just did it. Feel great now, and definitely saw an improvement from yesterday.

Deafworm · 04/01/2014 09:50

L1D1 today so just checking in for now, im another returnee, I did the shred before ds1 and it worked well then I'd just started it in the summer when I damaged my wrist so have been waiting to be able to start again. Fingers crossed tonights the night, ive got a lot of weight to lose and a lot of toning to do, 30 this month, this is my year!

Mumtoh · 04/01/2014 11:23

Level 1 day 5 done, althought technically as I didn't do it yesterday should today be day 4? Suppose we count rest days as 1 of the 30 days?

used lighter weights for some of the exercises as recommended (the squat and press and side lunges and arm raise) and that made a difference - still feel like it's working, it just didn't feel like it was doing me damage any more!

Nightwish · 04/01/2014 11:31

I don't think rest days count as a day Mumtoh.
Or atleast I don't count them.
I think 10 days of exercising each level is right.
I'm just waiting for the baby to sleep and then will be shreding.

L2D6 finished. Much better today.
Hope you are all having a good weekend!
I'm considering alternating Shred or another JM with c25k after I have finished this time round. I did about 5 weeks of c25k 2 years ago and my Dad has told me he thinks it made loads of difference.
So it may be 3 days c25k, 3 days Shred/alternative (possibly Ripped in 30) in two/three weeks time.
Shame I hate running outside!

L1D2 complete here, DS1 (5.5) joined me which was amusing.
Amazing how it makes you aware of muscles you didn't notice before!
I'm making a lot of involuntary noises sitting to standing ATM and fear it'll get worse before it gets better.

I'm also thinking about C25K, am really not a natural runner but have been inspired by all of the rav reviews on the C25K site.

Need to go and keep moving to avoid seizing up altogether.

PeppermintCream · 04/01/2014 14:56

Well done everyone. Your posts are motivating me to keep going.
Just done d3 Lvl 1. The last two mins of cardio and the bicycle crunches kill me every time (as do the modified press ups). But I'm finding some if the exercises a little easier - I'm aching loads though!

msmoss · 04/01/2014 16:14

Hello L1D6 complete, I tried to do level 2 for the first time but got half way through the first strength circuit and the DVD jumped tried to fix it but it jumped again so will need to have another go later.

Definitely having a rest day tomorrow as I could really feel the tiredness in my muscles today.

Have you tried ripped in nightwish? there are some good reviews on amazon and I'm not sure I want to buy a second shred DVD if I can't get this one to work.

Nightwish · 04/01/2014 16:39

I haven't tried it yet msmoss but have heard good things, I think a couple of people from the last thread had tried so maybe someone else here has. Also there is a Jillian Michael's everything thread, could ask over there if you have any questions.

LakeFly I am also not a natural runner by any means! I found it pretty hard last time but was very surprised when I was running for a 7 minute stretch (I think that is somewhere in week 5 where I got to).

Well done Peppermint, honestly the aching does get better, keep at it!

OP posts:
LakeFlyPie · 04/01/2014 17:32

The thought of running for 7 mins seems almost impossible; I can hardly run down the road and it's a short cul-de-sac, although I can swim 40 lengths comfortably without stopping, so must be reasonably fit but just have a rubbish running technique.
Have just bought an armband for my iphone so will have to do C25K now!

msmoss · 04/01/2014 19:33

Cool will take a look for that thread, I've just seen that you can get individual workouts on iTunes, so if level 3 is ok on my DVD then I may just get level 2 on there and use my iPad instead of the tv.

lakeflypie I ran a half marathon 6 months after getting back into running using a very similar programme to C25K and I could barely have run for a bus when I started as I's done no exercise in about 3 years and smoked about 20 a day.

WhereAreMyShoes · 04/01/2014 19:52

Hello all, you're all doing fantastically.
This thread really helps with motivation, especially seeing post of level 2-ers.
I've had a two day break as Fri was a funeral and yesterday my poor knackered knees weren't playing ball.

They feel a bit spongey on the outside bit if my kneecap, think it's just swelling. Stupidly I did the jump rope when I knew I shouldn't have.

So, tonight, once dd is in bed, I'm doing it. I must get back into it tonight or I'll give up.

Strangely, I really love the abs moves.
Maybe not when I get to level 2 eventually

msmoss · 04/01/2014 21:59

I quite like the abs moves too, mainly because I get to lie down Grin

L2 definitely has a jump in it on my DVD, watched L3 on fast forward that seemed ok. Had a look on YouTube but could only see L1, does anyone know if L2 is on before I download it?

lobsterkiller · 04/01/2014 22:19

Done day 4...is it me but I do one day and certain moves are easy and the next day I find them too hard and the others that I found hard then become easy?? (If that makes sense!)Confused

JRmumma · 04/01/2014 22:33

Good work everyone! L1D2 done for me and i too have used lighter weight (bottles of bleach) for some of the strength stuff. Still felt it working but didn't feel like I was injuring myself.

I'm ordering my DVD tomorrow but am doing L1 on youtube atm. So can anyone tell me whether you are supposed to take rest days or go straight through?

ErrolTheDragon · 04/01/2014 23:05

I reckon one or two rest days per week - IIRC its what JM says on the Ri30 dvd.

tanukiton · 05/01/2014 00:46

hello l1 d3 of 30 days. Mrsmoss-I heard yah! I 'look forward' to the abs too, as it gives a bit of a break! Last night my 'darling' husband took great delight in massaging my pectoral muscles. Every time I just started laughing in pain. Anyway could finally make it through the (girly )push ups today.

lobsterkiller · 05/01/2014 08:27

Tanukiton you are doing great with the press ups...I am struggling to do them. Getting better but can do the first set but really struggle with the second.

Msmoss with you on the abs work!!!

TravellingLemon · 05/01/2014 10:26

L1D3 done Grin

Improving and getting slightly easier
