Hi everyone. I thought we could do with a new shiny thread.

All runners are welcome here :)

A massive well done to all runners this week. I managed to get out today and did 3.5 miles in 32 minutes. It made me feel slightly less guilty about missing parkrun on Saturday (although it is the first since August so not too bad).

Well done on the 50 T shirt! It'll take me years to get mine at the rate I'm going.

Met up with fishandjam for Parkrun yesterday. It was seriously muddy again but I managed not to fall over this week (did some very graceful windmill arms and shrieking though). We did pretty well, much better than last time.

I was first in my age category! Thanks to all the other SW30-34 for not showing up Grin

melliebobs · 26/01/2014 09:34

Out of interest which ParkRun does everyone go to?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 26/01/2014 09:37

Well done runningLou! Congratulations on your 50 shirt Smile

Snap Melanie - I'm on 34 too, and almost had the same time as you yesterday Smile

Well done EAU as well for being first in your age group Grin

Hope your 10K goes well mellie Smile

How's your calf blathers?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 26/01/2014 09:44

mellie I usually go to Bedford, but have also been to Milton Keynes, Northampton and Huntingdon, all of which are in striking distance for me.

Blatherskite · 26/01/2014 09:59

Calf is worse but not awful. It aches even between runs now which is new but it's not painful just 'there'.

Decided to miss the long run today and rest it. I'd have only managed the first hour anyway and for some reason the drop off was nowhere near the start this week so I'd have had to drive the the start and then find my way back to my car from the drop off too. Plus, it's raining and miserable. It's been weeks since I had a lie in so I'm not feeling too guilty. Might see if DS fancies a little run with me later if the weather dries up.

Yesterday was my 58th parkrun and I went to visit OhOne in Bedford. Next weekend, I'm off to visit Lego in Northampton to do their Magic Mile. MK is my usual course but we're planning a lot more tourism this year. I'm going to be at Pontefract for the Valentines weekend run so I can run with my brother for his 50th.

EauRouge · 26/01/2014 10:41

I go to Huntingdon. Quite tempted by a bit of tourism, I could drive to Bedford easily enough but I'd have to persuade DH to get up early to look after the DDs...

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 26/01/2014 10:55

Eau let's plan a Bedford meet up sometime in the spring - we can rope in lego and blathers as well Smile

Blatherskite · 26/01/2014 11:04

I'm up for that :)

EauRouge · 26/01/2014 12:02

Sounds good! Actually I'd only have to leave about 20 mins earlier than usual so not too early.

cinnamongreyhound · 26/01/2014 13:08

Welcome thefemaleJoshLyman!

Dh always says if the pain spreads but lessens its better than a small stabbing point blatherskite.

Well done in your t-shirt runningLou! Which triathlon are you doing? My friend who I run with is doing the tearjerker at elveden in may.

We're in the same age category EauRouge.

How's your Achilles OhOneOhTwoOhThree?

I do Brandon country park and have done Thetford but didn't yesterday :(

I did a lovely long run today with a guy training for London. Luckily he did he long run of 16 miles yesterday so wanted to take it slowly. We fluctuated from 9-9 1/2 min miling which was good for me. And we missed the rain by about 2 mins which is always good!

Standingonlego · 26/01/2014 13:15

Good plan OhOne I am up for Bedford meet up :) I will make sure I track you down next week blathers. I will be taking it steady as have round 2 of my dirt run the morning afterwards,

Blatherskite · 26/01/2014 13:15

Small stabby pinch is what I have when I'm running hard or long. It's just achey afterwards now which is new :(

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 26/01/2014 14:09

Your long run sounds good cinnamon - you will be miles ahead of me at the boundary run Grin. DH has also just found out he probably has to leave for an overseas trip that day, so will not be able to wait for me at the halfway point. And my achilles is permanently sore. In better news Grin I have fixed up a lunchtime run on Thursday.

Shall we try to fix a date for a Bedford meet-up? 22 Feb or 29 March would work for me.

MelanieCheeks · 26/01/2014 18:28

My home run is Wallace, Lisburn (I'm in Norn Irn). I've also run at Portrush and Queens Belfast. Our first anniversary is coming up in March, so I'm sticking to Wallace for the next few weeks as I'm second in the points table! But after that I'm looking forward to doing a bit more ParkRun tourism - there's some nice looking flat courses nearby I'd like to try.

thenightsky · 26/01/2014 18:37

melliebobs I do scunthorpe, which seems to be miles away from any Mumsnet runners.

Blatherskite · 26/01/2014 22:04

Ah, Sunny Scunny :) I'm from Doncaster originally thenightsky :)

I'll be in Pontefract in a couple of weeks....? I've been back to do Doncaster before. That's my PB course

thenightsky · 26/01/2014 22:08

Ah Ponte's not far... about 50 mins away.

runningLou · 27/01/2014 06:29

Am also in the 30-34 category :)
I'm in Coventry, but also run South Manchester quite a bit as have family up there. Did lots of tourism last year trying to get my 50 (NY Resolution!) So have done Poole, Sheringham in Norfolk, Highbury Fields in London etc, plus a good few of the Midlands ones near me. PB was at Solihull as it's a lovely flat course Grin but at the moment I'm about 2 mins 20 seconds off that ... Eeek, I have some serious training to do!
Anyone know how best to regain speed after an injury?

cinnamongreyhound · 27/01/2014 11:35

Not sure about that OhoneOhTwoOhThree, it was only 8 miles, the other 5 have to be that quick too!

cinnamongreyhound · 27/01/2014 13:27

I know some are close ish to me and I'm just drumming up a bit of business for my club if anyone is interested in a lovely rural road 10k

Blatherskite · 27/01/2014 18:55

Interesting book club choice for us runners - Running Like a Girl

A friend was raving about this one the other day so I've applied for a copy.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 27/01/2014 21:17

Thanks for the heads up Blathers - I went for coffee with a lady from my parkrun on Saturday and she was talking about it. i've applied as well (though goodness only knows when I will get chance to read it Grin)

melliebobs · 28/01/2014 10:59

I do Preston parkrun or if I'm wanting a challenge Cuerden Valley

10k went brill. Absolutely lashed it down and it was freeeezing and windy. Was my 2nd 10k n knocked 6 mins off my time and finished in 61 minutes. Was made up. Specially when I had to stop to fasten my shoelace Confused

cinnamongreyhound · 28/01/2014 13:24

I've entered too, thanks blatherskite!

That's fab, well done melliebobs :)

EauRouge · 28/01/2014 15:32

Ooh, thanks, I've applied too. If I win I'll have to make some time to read it. Too bad you can't run and read at the same time.
