Hi everyone. I thought we could do with a new shiny thread.

All runners are welcome here :)

A massive well done to all runners this week. I managed to get out today and did 3.5 miles in 32 minutes. It made me feel slightly less guilty about missing parkrun on Saturday (although it is the first since August so not too bad).

That is really positive news nightsky, glad you are a little better. Hope that the stretching helps - do you have to use one of those evil little foam rollers?

thenightsky · 15/01/2014 21:35

Yes, I have an evil foam roller but I've been instructed not to use it for at least 10 days as it is too harsh at this stage.

Standingonlego · 16/01/2014 22:12

Hope you are ok today nightsky and not having too much day after pains after the physio. We need you fighting fit asap :)

thenightsky · 16/01/2014 22:14

I did ask where this was as I wanted to book a hotel for the night before. Some kind person posted, but I cannot find their post now. Was it Lemington spa?

thenightsky · 16/01/2014 22:22

Gah... wrong thread.

Blatherskite · 17/01/2014 15:46

About to start baking. It's MK parkrun's 4th birthday tomorrow :)

Standingonlego · 17/01/2014 18:06

hooray! just negotiated with Mr Standing and so will see you in MK tomorrow for cake blathers.

Blatherskite · 17/01/2014 18:16

Really! Yey Grin

I will the the one in the red 50 shirt Wink

It's really easy to find, stick in the postcode for the Premier Inn at the lake if you're Sat Nav-ing. It's pay and display so make sure you stick in enough cash to cover a good old natter in the cafe afterwards.

muddyprints · 17/01/2014 22:12

I've done 10parkruns since finishing couch to 5k and my time has gone from 31.50 down to 31.20 and then gradually upto 32.50.
My legs feel heavy, I'm out of breath and by the second mile I'm thinking about stopping and just trying to get to the next tree or bench.
I never feel relaxed or just enjoy it. I feel good after that I have run 5k but thought I might improve but I'm getting worse.
In the Summer I ran 2 or 3 times a week now it's just the parkrun so I'm no I'm not as fit but maybe I'm just never going to be comfortable running.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 17/01/2014 22:32

Good that you are getting together Blathers and lego Grin. I am staying at my home parkrun tomorrow. I was caught up in the train chaos in and out of St Pancras today - took me 4.5 hours to get to work and over 3 to get home. I was already shattered - my new job is taking a lot out of me - and we are out all day on Sunday. I might not even get up for parkrun in the morning Grin

nightsky - glad you are feeling a bit better. Take it easy.

muddy - keep going, it will come Smile

Blatherskite · 17/01/2014 23:04

Your train ride sounds awful OhOne. I think you deserve some sleep. Sorry we'll be missing you tomorrow though :(

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 18/01/2014 08:27

I'm sorry too Blathers. I've been wide awake since 7am but refused to get up until 8 Smile. Tis grey and drizzly here, hope it is a bit better with you.

Standingonlego · 18/01/2014 08:35

I am going to miss out on blathers cakes as running too late to get to MK :(

Standingonlego · 18/01/2014 08:57

And it would seem also too late to even make my home run Sad

Standingonlego · 18/01/2014 09:00

Hope everyone has a good run (and enjoyed your lie in OhOne ). It is grey and miserable, but hope it stays dry for everyone. Look forward to run reports later :)

karatekimmi · 18/01/2014 10:05

had a shit run and just want to cry. DH had mini kimmi so I could run as we had pacers this week, and I was doing really well (although couldn't see the 30 minute man) but pissed myself - twice Blush I literally stopped running and peed as everyone ran past! I'm so annoyed, I've been doing my pelvic floor exercises and everything. It'll be ages till I get to run by myself again.

I'm really really gutted Sad and I still might have got a PB! That would annoy me even more!! I know there is no logic to that!!

EauRouge · 18/01/2014 10:57

Oh no :( Sorry that happened.

I got my time through already and I didn't get a PB. 35.11. My PB is 29.40. I think sliding over on my arse in the mud may have added a few seconds to my time Grin

karatekimmi · 18/01/2014 11:02

thanks eau you falling over made me laugh!! (hope youre okay!!) I managed to get a PB but that makes it worse as i'd have been 30 minutes something if I hadn't of stopped!! I need to just be glad of my run and my PB and at least I know I can improve on it in the future!!

EauRouge · 18/01/2014 11:11

I'm fine, I had a nice soft landing in 6 inches of mud Grin I can only hope they didn't catch it on camera.

Congrats on your PB, next time you'll improve I bet. Have you been offered physio for your pelvic floor?

thenightsky · 18/01/2014 11:11

I'm still laid up with my sprained IT band/trapped nerve/ tendon thing. DS went on his own and said he did well he thinks. I really missed it Sad I hate not being about to run.

cinnamongreyhound · 18/01/2014 12:57

Sorry karatekimmi but well done for a pb. Have you seen anyone? Perhaps those weighty things (sorry not good with names) that you insert and hold in could help?

I did have to laugh EauRouge, glad you're ok though!

Sending healing vibes to thenightsky :(

We had 43 runners!!!!!!! I'm so stupidly excited! We had a real atmosphere was lovely. So nice to get out of bed set up for a greater number, feels more worthwhile. Also feeling pretty confident as RD now too. Went for a 4 mile run afterwards with the dogs :)

Blatherskite · 18/01/2014 12:58

I'm in agony!

Finished parkrun with no problems then went back to the cafe for cake and a drink - all fine. As I left about an hour later I noticed a menstural cramp type pain as I moved but figured I must have pulled something or that my crap stretching hadn't been enough. But now it's getting worse and worse and worse! I've gone cold and shakey and I can't move without it really hurting. I've tried a hot shower to warm me up and have just taken some painkillers but nothing is working yet.

I feel like I'm in labour! Which is impossible. I'm mid cycle so shouldn't be due on either. It is beginning to feel a little like it's my bowel but the pain is all at the front and is sore to the touch rather than just achey.

What on earth have I done to myself?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 18/01/2014 13:15

Oh Blathers that sounds worrying, especially the cold and shakey thing. Is it worth getting checked out? I don't want to worry you but I had an ectopic pregnancy years ago and had even had a "period" when it had been due - it was a bit of a funny one, but it was an extremely stressful time in my life for all sorts of reasons I just put it down to the stress. By the time the ectopic was diagnosed a week or two later it was about to rupture and I was told afterwards that I was very lucky to be alive.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 18/01/2014 13:20

Sad lego about missing MK and your home run. Fingers crossed for next week.

Sad kimmi as well. I try not to drink too much before I run and also often wear a super-size pad when I go running Blush (I am sharing all my secrets today)

Smile Eau your run sounds fun. I went to Huntingdon on NYD and it was very muddy.

Sad nightsky - hopefully the rest will have you bouncing back to full strength soon

Smile cinnamon - great turnout, and glad you got a run in as well

Blatherskite · 18/01/2014 13:20

DH had the snip when DD was a baby so it's definitely not that. I'm in bed but it's still very sore :(
