Hi everyone. I thought we could do with a new shiny thread.

All runners are welcome here :)

A massive well done to all runners this week. I managed to get out today and did 3.5 miles in 32 minutes. It made me feel slightly less guilty about missing parkrun on Saturday (although it is the first since August so not too bad).

I'll be wearing top to toe waterproofs for my first time as a Marshall tomorrow!

Have a good run tomorrow everyone, hope you feel better soon nightsky xx

cinnamongreyhound · 03/01/2014 20:28

I said to dh I'm not going tomorrow as it will be too cold, hadn't thought about the rain!!

Sorry blatherkite, realised I hadn't replied to you! Thanks for the pm and I'm enjoying so far :)

Blatherskite · 03/01/2014 20:57

Thanks cinnamon. I really struggled with yesterday's but was quite pleased with today's entry.

It's going to be a wet old parkrun tomorrow. Forecast shows heavy rain between 8 and 10am which is going to make parkrun and the magic mile afterwards rather soggy! If I hadn't agreed to run with my friend's little boy, I'd probably opt for a lie in rather than a run tomorrow!

cinnamongreyhound · 04/01/2014 10:19

That was my 25 so half way! Wasn't a great time, just scraped under 27m I think even though I went for it :(

Standingonlego · 04/01/2014 10:43

Oooo...that was soggy! Opted for a trot and a gossip as i went round rather than a speedy time, was a nice way to start the year.

Hope everyone is home with a cup pf tea and dried out!

Iggity · 04/01/2014 10:44

Hello everyone. I haven't been on this thread for a while but have continued to parkrun with varying success! I bought a snazzy new pair of trainers in October and since then I have suffered with pain on the outside edge of the sole of one foot. I didn't want to give up the trainers, more because of the cost than anything else but did so a few weeks ago. Foot is better but still have pain around my ankle so have not been running much at all apart from parkrun.

Today was hard with lots of mud, pouring rain and wind but I did it, albeit in a poor time for me. Wish it was summer! Hope everyone had a better run than me!

Home and dry after a wet and slow plod today Smile

Well done cinnamon and lego, and welcome back Iggity Grin

EauRouge · 04/01/2014 11:36

Went with fishandjam for her first parkrun and it was sooo muddy. Loved running in the mud so much that I'm looking for mud/obstacle races now. Not very fast but felt like I was 8 years old again splashing in the puddles and getting very muddy. DH looked horrified when I got home Grin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 04/01/2014 11:37

Sounds like you had fun Eau Grin

Blatherskite · 04/01/2014 13:07

I ran with a friend's 9 (not 7!) year old so that he could go for a PB today. We managed 31 minutes so not terribly slow and I was glad not to have to push it anyway as I am still paranoid that my calf is going to give out again. We went over to Northampton to do their magic mile but it was so wet and miserable that they didn't bother doing it so we all came home and dried off instead. Have just been to pick up a MacDonalds for my very hungover husband and am now going to potter and clean for the rest of the day I think. Just got to log and blog for Janathon first.

karatekimmi · 04/01/2014 13:37

well don't want to brag but we had lovely still, dry weather today!! I ran with mini kimmi and another lady so we had a couple of walking breaks but completed in in 38 mins.

I'm contemplating joining a running club, but it would mean a big commitment in getting a babysitter in every week! It would make me go though instead of wimping out!!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 04/01/2014 13:43

Lucky you with the weather kimmi.

Blathers - apart from the hungover DH (mine is out in the park doing his physio exercises and gently running) the rest of your day sounds like mine. Beds are stripped and second laundry load is in Smile.

Blatherskite · 04/01/2014 14:06

I loved my running club so much I joined another 2 kimmi Grin

DH has taken the kids up to DS's room and it looks like the Lego shop has exploded! Better get on with tidying downstairs while they're busy I guess

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 04/01/2014 14:08

Ours was dry too!

I had a lovely time cheering the 400+ runners around!

cinnamongreyhound · 04/01/2014 16:46

I got wetter taking the dogs out before than I did doing parkrun so it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

Love hearing everyone's accounts of their runs :)

Wow 400 is amazing, we had 24 today Blush :(
Would like to go to a bigger one just to experience it, might venture to Cambridge.

Standingonlego · 04/01/2014 16:52

Blathers I was there at Northampton this morning!!!! I obviously managed to not see you again (small matter that we have never meet properly!). I was a teeny bit late and instead of trying to catch up I had a nice chat to Bob (our 83 year old legend, he is well on way to his 100 T Shirt) and "sweeper" Marshall Paul then worked through the the back markers and ran to line with a man encouraging his daughter (12) to a PB. It was a nice change, and was definately a run not a race Blush

I was hanging around for magic mile too so must have almost met you Grin. Next time :)

Standingonlego · 04/01/2014 16:53

very Envy of those of you that were dry, but it was fun splashing and being out in the fresh air,

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 04/01/2014 18:02

I will be at northampton next week lego, as long as you are Grin

Anyone else up for some tourism?

Standingonlego · 04/01/2014 18:42

OnOne it is on my calender :) Tea & Bacon butties after..???

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 04/01/2014 20:42

Oooh yeah! (I will be drinking hot water though - I am doing dry/caffeine free January, but not bacon sarnie free Grin)

Blatherskite · 04/01/2014 21:33

I knew there was one of us at Northampton but forgot who! I was totally un-missable in my hi viz waterproof jacket this morning too. I think we'll be back for next month's magic mile so we'll have to say hi then instead.

thenightsky · 04/01/2014 22:51

I didn't run this morning as my feet still look like they've been pumped up with a bicycle pump and my throat is red-raw Sad

Gonna get a grip on myself in the coming week if I feel better though. Onward and upward and all that.

Standingonlego · 04/01/2014 23:14

get better soon nightsky - plenty of fluid, feet up and plenty of sleep needed.

Blathers - i was in my super subtle waterproof high viz and pink hat today as well, it was certainly needed. See you next month!!

Standingonlego · 04/01/2014 23:16

OhOne all that clean eating business starts on Monday for me...easing into things gradually tonight with no wine but still had takeaway curry Blush

cinnamongreyhound · 05/01/2014 17:27

Been for a lovely 5 miles today, I'm nearly keeping up with Blatherskite, only missed running on Friday so far this year :)
