Hi everyone. I thought we could do with a new shiny thread.

All runners are welcome here :)

A massive well done to all runners this week. I managed to get out today and did 3.5 miles in 32 minutes. It made me feel slightly less guilty about missing parkrun on Saturday (although it is the first since August so not too bad).

Well done Iwish!

cinnamongreyhound · 01/01/2014 11:58

I got a parkrun pb but as that's the first time I've done that course it won't come up as pb and I probably shouldt compare as it was much flatter and much more path than foresty ground.

Happy new year to all!

Blatherskite · 01/01/2014 13:39

Happy New Year parkrunners.

St Albans for me this morning. I stuck with my possibly still drunk friend all the way round so it won't be anywhere near a PB for me but we had fun anyway. A few of us took cake with us (any excuse!) and the organisers seemed a bit shocked :) It was a great way to start off 2014 and Janathon.

SonorousBip · 01/01/2014 13:48

I did one this morning, with a friend running it for the first time and Ds. It was raining horizontally and the mud was ankle deep pretty much all round the course. It was huge fun. Smile We were caked in mud up to the knees, all up our backs and Ds had it on his face

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 01/01/2014 16:45

31.17 -ho hum!

I thought I might have been a bit quicker without the crowds, but I've only run once in the past 2 weeks (and that was on Monday) so I need to push on I guess.

Goals this year are to do Parkrun in 28 minutes and to get up to running 10k (both my goals) and my colleague who is an extremely good runner has challenged me to manage my 10k in 1 hour Hmm

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/01/2014 16:48

Nowhere near PB for me, but as two of the three laps were uphill through ankle-deep mud I don't mind. At least we got out of our beds and ran!

cinnamongreyhound · 01/01/2014 16:59

I too doggy and she's really got the hang of it now, no stops at all. Felt guilty leaving the other doggy behind dh said he cried but I'm taking them both tomorrow.

Well done to all who ran!

I'd be very interested to read your blog blatherskite, would you be happy to post a link?

cinnamongreyhound · 01/01/2014 17:00

took doggy!

karatekimmi · 01/01/2014 17:33

Well the same story here, very wet an muddy, second slowest time but more importantly my new shoes are muddy Xmas Grin does the sweatshop 30 day return policy include just because they're muddy!!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/01/2014 18:08

Grin kimmi!

Mine are in the washing machine - it has sports shoe programme Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 01/01/2014 18:53

I would cry if my trainers looked like yours OhOneOhTwoOhThree!!!!!!! Not sure I'd be brave enough to put them in the washing machine.

I reckon they'd be very unreasonable not to include that karatekimmi Wink

Blatherskite · 01/01/2014 18:55

You can do anything to them and Sweatshop will take them back if you're not happy. Mud is fine.

I really struggled to write my blog this morning so I'm not sure that it's very interesting so far but I can message you a link if you like cinnamon? I rewrote it about 5 times and then just wrote something really simple. It's so hard when you're not in the mood

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/01/2014 19:14

This is not their first trip through the machine cinnamon. I had my oldest, most beaten up ones on today Grin

Blatherskite · 01/01/2014 19:26

My trail shoes came back cleaner today than they went out! Yes, it was muddy but I last wore them to Glow in the Park which was much, much muddier so all the new mud did was washed away the old stuff :)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/01/2014 19:43

I needed trail shoes today Grin

hotmama · 01/01/2014 23:37

I went today and took my 2 young daughters for their first parkruns! My time was awful - but that's not what it was about today - so proud of them.

Going for my 50 T-shirt this year.

Happy New Year everyone. Smile

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 02/01/2014 12:41

Well done mini-hotmamas!

How many have you done hotmama? I'm on 30, hope to get my 50 by the summer Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 02/01/2014 19:33

My New Year's Day run was 24 :)

How old are they hotmama? I took ds1 and we did it in 49mins and he said he was never ever ever ever doing that again!

Blatherskite · 02/01/2014 21:15

NYD was 54 for me. Part of me is tempted to try for my 100 shirt this year but a more sensible part of me realises that I'd have to run on all but 6 weekends in the whole year to make that which is probably a bit excessive.

I'm going to try taking 6yo DS out for a run with me this weekend. He is absolutely desperate to do parkrun but I'm not sure he realises how far it is. I don't expect him to run it all straight away but when we marshalled, he winged and moaned about walking quickly to the spot we were stationed at at about 2k in. If he's going to do the same at parkrun, it would just be miserable for both of us.

On the other side of the coin, I'm running with a friends 7yo this weekend who does parkrun in about 28-30 minutes most weeks!

YippeeKiYayMakkaPakka · 03/01/2014 10:46

I've just registered! Hampstead Heath is my local. I've fallen out of running a bit over the winter (did a half marathon last Oct and also did a 10k with OhOneOhTwoOhThree, the one where you got that nn!) so I'm keen to get back to it.

Blatherskite · 03/01/2014 10:48

Hey you. Liking the name change :)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 03/01/2014 11:17

Heellloooooo Yippee

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 03/01/2014 17:33

BTW Yippee, did you see the thread about a MN 10K in the summer?

thenightsky · 03/01/2014 18:58

Not sure I'll be up to running tomorrow. I've got a sore throat, feel generally unwell and knackered and, rather oddly, my feet and ankles have swollen up like balloons. The skin is so tightly stretched it hurts to walk Sad And I am plagued with cramp in my toes, arches, tops of feet, sides of ankle, shins, calves, etc. I cannot get comfy at all.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 03/01/2014 20:15

Ouch nightsky that sounds painful. Hope you feel better soon.

DH has just gleefully mentioned that it will be a wet one tomorrow HmmGrin
