Hi everyone. I thought we could do with a new shiny thread.

All runners are welcome here :)

A massive well done to all runners this week. I managed to get out today and did 3.5 miles in 32 minutes. It made me feel slightly less guilty about missing parkrun on Saturday (although it is the first since August so not too bad).

karatekimmi I have the moulded insoles and really like them. My shoes are comfy without them but they are like slippers with them. I know they're expensive but I was told (by a friend that works there not just a salesperson) that they should last for 2 pairs of shoes and can be remoulded any time I like for free.

I didn't see her OhOne but a couple of my friends definitely did. She shouted at one directly and they heard her yelling about being a member of the public on another lap. One friend was tempted to yell back that we were members of the public too but was too out of breath I think :)

I feel that generally dog walkers hae decreased since our parkrun started 42 weeks ago. The worst for me is if I run with one of my dogs and a random dog wants to say hello and I'm then trying to get passed and drag the dog past! We met my neighbour today who's dog I walked for a bit with mine when she broke her foot and he took her totally by surprise by running over to say hello! We have a man who is there walking most weeks and always on the opposite direction, I figure he likes it or he'd change his route or timings?!? Confused.

I'm respectful to others but can't abide when you clearly move out of the way whether it's running or walking with dogs and/or children and people don't say thank you, really how hard is it? I've taken to loudly saying 'you're welcome' as it really p&@?es me off!!

Hello can I join? I'm just getting back into running after a bit of a lay off over the last few months with a bad back. My back is now ok, just my hip has started hurting now. I was down to about 31 mins for my park run in the summer and I'm now at 36 and a half Hmm. Ho hum it is a bit disheartening but I just need to get some miles in. It was very very muddy this morning.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 28/12/2013 23:04

Welcome Hedgepig!

thenightsky · 28/12/2013 23:20

hedge welcome! Which parkrun are you doing?

Blatherskite · 28/12/2013 23:24

Welcome Hedgepig :)

Hedgepig · 29/12/2013 00:09

Hello I run at Wimpole S.Cambs , thanks for the welcome

karatekimmi · 29/12/2013 17:40

Even better, I was first in my age category!! The benefits of a small parkrun!! Yippee!!

I've been out walking in my moulded soles, they seem okay, but make me feel like my feet slob out more. I will go for a little run in them tomorrow and see how I get on.

Hello hedgepig

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 29/12/2013 17:53

Yay well done kimmi!

How are your blisters today nightsky?

cinnamongreyhound · 29/12/2013 19:42

Hi Hedgepig, we have a lady who sometimes visits our parkrun who regularly does the wimpole one.

Well done karatekimmi! Will be interested in your shoe experiences too :)

Hedgepig · 29/12/2013 21:04

What are moulded soles Kimmi?

Where are you cinnamon ? Wimpole is nice apart from the flipping sharp hill near the start, which is a big shock to the legs when you are used to flat old Cambridgeshire.

I'm going to try and do a run tomorrow as I'm not too achey today

cinnamongreyhound · 29/12/2013 21:04

Brandon country park is my closest :)

thenightsky · 29/12/2013 21:10

Blisters still sore today. Nowhere near as bad as I used to get when I did regular x-c in my youth. The off-roadness seems to make me twist my feet within my shoes in a weird way.

Blatherskite · 29/12/2013 21:18

Whoo hoo! 1st in my age category for me on Saturday too! :)

thenightsky · 29/12/2013 21:26

Bloody well done Blathers!!! Especially given your recent injuries.

I've only managed that once.

Blatherskite · 29/12/2013 21:55

I was so surprised I've read the email about 5 times! Honestly, I felt like I was running through treacle for all but about 1/2 a k!

The cold weather must have kept all of the faster ladies at home :)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 29/12/2013 22:15

Well done Blathers! You must come more often!

Blatherskite · 29/12/2013 22:18

I just might :) Once I'm fit again, it would be a good PB course

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 30/12/2013 22:15

I've just run for the first time in 2 weeks - and I overindulged for our week away over Christmas so it was a bit of a struggle.

I did the 5+ stepping stone run and managed 4.3kms in 30 minutes. I won't be getting a pb in Wednesdays Parkrun, but i might get my best ever position as last years New Years Day event only had just over 100 runners (compared to the usual weekly turnout of 400+!).

Blatherskite · 30/12/2013 22:23

parkruns seem to be getting cancelled left, right and centre around me at the moment. The current plan seems to be St Albans!

Blatherskite · 31/12/2013 16:33

Definitely St Albans tomorrow. Better not drink too much tonight as we're leaving at 7:30!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 31/12/2013 20:06

Still toying with Huntingdon, but DS1's plans changed so I no longer have a need to drive over there Smile

cinnamongreyhound · 31/12/2013 20:19

I'm doing Thetford, it starts at 10 :)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 01/01/2014 11:22

Back from Huntingdon - a complete mud bath so no PB, but a lovely course (or would be in better weather and dryer underfoot) Grin. Happy New Year parkrunners!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 01/01/2014 11:33

I did Cardiff Parkrun this morning. It was cold, wet and windy!

I've not had my result yet, but it should be about the 30 minute mark. I enjoyed running with far fewer people there, I could get into my stride much better.

I'm anticipating that Saturdays event will be extremely busy, so have just volunteered for the first time!
