Hi everyone. I thought we could do with a new shiny thread.

All runners are welcome here :)

A massive well done to all runners this week. I managed to get out today and did 3.5 miles in 32 minutes. It made me feel slightly less guilty about missing parkrun on Saturday (although it is the first since August so not too bad).

Thanks for starting the 10K thread lego

If we are heading north I can pick you up on the way - we are J 13 Grin

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 26/12/2013 19:09

I did a Freedom run today. I felt as though I was working as hard as I did last week, but was a whole 2 minutes slower Grin. Going out after a large roast dinner probably didn't help.

DH and the DCs were in the park at the same time. DH made some unhelpful "knees up" comments because he knows how much they annoy me, DS1 was just embarrassed, and DS2 gave me a high five each time I came round (and said it wasn't my fault for being slow, it was all the children trying out their new wheels ).

lego I have put 11 January on my calendar Grin. And worked out that my 50th parkrun will likely be early July Grin

Blatherskite · 26/12/2013 19:18

No Christmas parkrun for me as the kids would never have forgiven me. I'm definitely doing the New Years one though, me and a couple of friends are driving 45 minutes just to get to the closest one! t'll be a good start to my janathon if nothing else.

Although I still don't have a blog title...

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 26/12/2013 19:47

Blathers you are a very naughty girl! I am now trawling through the parkrun list of New Years Day runs trying to decide which one to do Grin.

Blatherskite · 26/12/2013 20:26

How far are you from Aylesbury? Wink It doesn't start until 10:30

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 26/12/2013 20:39

Huntingdon is closer, and I could go and see my elderly godmother afterwards (have been meaning to go to see her since last March, and failed miserably) Smile

Blatherskite · 26/12/2013 20:41

I'll forgive you :) I think it would be almost an hour for you which is a long way for a 5k

Standingonlego · 26/12/2013 20:49

Now you have got me looking at the New year list...stop it!!! 11th Jan in my diary too OhOne :)

Blatherskite · 26/12/2013 21:02

We were trying to find 2 close enough together that we could run at 9am and again at 10:30!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 26/12/2013 21:14

Huntingdon and Peterborough have apparently joined forces - H'ton is at 9.00 and P'boro' 10.30. They are asking people to run at one and volunteer at t'other. But that is probs in the wrong direction for you Blathers

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 26/12/2013 21:14

H'don I mean Smile

Blatherskite · 26/12/2013 21:20

We were hoping MK would do 9am but they're not doing New Years at all this year. It would have been a push getting between the two anyway.

As far as I know, Christmas and New Years are the only non-Saturday-at-9am parkruns that count towards your totals.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 27/12/2013 20:43

I'm going to do the Cardiff New Years Day Parkrun.

I won't have run for 2 weeks and have seriously overindulged in our catered chalet this week but it will be a good way to start 2014!

Blatherskite · 27/12/2013 20:46

My parkrun is flooded so I'm off to visit OhOne tomorrow instead.

Feeling rather fat and unfit after Christmas and calf tear induced rest so I'm hoping I don't embarrass myself! Blush

Standingonlego · 27/12/2013 20:52

I have my friend staying tonight, so a bit if parkrun tourism for her tomorrow. Good influence as just switched to Brew rather than 2nd glass of Wine.

Not sure where we are at New Year as working out NYE plans but Northampton have not declared if on/off yet.

cinnamongreyhound · 27/12/2013 21:13

I ran today with the dogs and one of the ladies we ran with is rd tomorrow, I resisted the urge to offer help as she's one short I will get my t-shirt this year

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 27/12/2013 22:45

Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow Blathers! DS1 has agreed to come too Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 28/12/2013 11:28

Very slow today but nice trot round chatting so was lovely, 30m45 but I'm so bunged up! Beautiful crisp morning here though :)

Blatherskite · 28/12/2013 14:22

It was lovely seeing OhOne today but I really struggled with the run. My legs felt so heavy!

Really, really need to sort my Janathon registration out as I think it will really help. I've not run anything but parkrun for about 3 weeks now while I let my calf heal and it's really showing. I tried running withuot my compression socks for the first time today and it was a bit sore but much better than it had been at least

karatekimmi · 28/12/2013 15:53

Well I did a spot of parkrun tourism today as at the last minute I decided to go to my parents in Nottingham for a few days. I managed to do the forest rec parkrun and got my best placing!! 71 places higher than my previous best! Grin nothing to do with a field size of 35 compared to 193 at Telford today! it was a bit hillier than I was used to!!

I made good use of babysitters, Christmas money an the presence of a sweatshop and had my gait analysed and bought 2 new pairs of trainers, one pair of Nike free to try minimalist running and a pair of molded soles for £45 but can be returned [mug emoticon] does anyone have any exprerience with either?

I'm wearing my new trainers now and really want to go for a run! I think I'll start drinking and eating chocolate instead! Maybe a short run in my new Nike free shoes tomorrow.

Hop everyone had a good one.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 28/12/2013 18:43

It was good to see you too Blathers. Do come again!

I felt as though I was working really hard, but finished in 29:12 - almost 2 mins slower than last week Shock. Not sure what was going on.

It was a lovely morning here too cinnamon - hope your cold gets better soon Smile

kimmi - hope you enjoyed your tourism. Like the sound of your new shoes, even though I have no experience of either Grin

Look as though I will be doing Huntingdon on NYD - DS1 has been invited to stay overnight on NYE with a friend who lives near there and will need collecting the next morning Smile

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 28/12/2013 19:45

By the way, Blathers, did you see the determined crazy rude dog walker today? She was walking in the opposite direction to the runners shouting "I am a member of the public, you can see me, I have a right to be here"?

I keep telling DH that my mouth will get get me into trouble one of these days (I had a go at a cyclist for screeching up behind me the other day when I was running and there was a perfectly nice road out of the car park for him to cycle on instead of the path), but she had nothing on me Grin

thenightsky · 28/12/2013 19:58

We get a couple of crazy dog walkers too. There's a bloke with greyhounds off leads. Twice I've had my legs tangled around them and nearly fallen Sad

This morning was difficult due to ice on the path. I had to run it on the grass and gave myself blisters on my arches. Was over a min slower this week due to fear of falling on the ice.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 28/12/2013 20:20

I am scared of dogs, so off-leash greyhounds would terrify me.

thenightsky · 28/12/2013 20:26

OhOne Its not just they greyhounds, there's loads of off-lead dogs roaming around. they don't seem to get excited and jumpy-uppy at all, they just get engrossed in following sniffs and don't look where they are going! Its very annoying.
