Hi everyone. I thought we could do with a new shiny thread.

All runners are welcome here :)

A massive well done to all runners this week. I managed to get out today and did 3.5 miles in 32 minutes. It made me feel slightly less guilty about missing parkrun on Saturday (although it is the first since August so not too bad).

I had saucony's before these ones and I loved them but the guy said the newer version of the same shoe wasn't very good and I didn't want to get exactly the same pair. Can you tell I don't often get to spend time shopping for shiney new things Blush

Good luck Blatherskite, hope physio gives you a positive answer :)

MelanieCheeks · 28/11/2013 13:51

I tried the Brooks last night, and they feel a bit pinchy. I'll re-lace them and wear them with better socks for Saturday's run, but I've a feeling they'll be going back for something different.

Blatherskite · 28/11/2013 20:31

I tried a short (2 mile) run tonight just to see if my calf hurt and it was ok! :)

There's a 'pinch' where it tore and it feels tight but hopefully the physio can right that in the morning. Even if he doesn't, I could definitely run on it so my night run on Saturday is on. I'm going to be near you OhFour :)

Blatherskite · 28/11/2013 22:43

My 50 t-shirt has arrived and I can collect it on Saturday!!

I'm a little bit excited Grin

cinnamongreyhound · 28/11/2013 22:48

I'd be very excited Blatherskite! Upto 20 now so ages to go for me, maybe by the end of 2014!

MelanieCheeks · 29/11/2013 08:07

Ooooh, blatherskite how very exciting!

I'm giggling now as I've just remembered I was ParkRunning in my dreams last night. It turned into a triathlon, and I had to swim across a harbour. I could see my Zola Budd/ Mary Decker rival on the far quay. I had my dog with me, and we dived into the water and made our way across. As we were running to the finish line, Batman appeared in the skies and whisked off one of the other runners.......

Blatherskite · 29/11/2013 10:28

Just got back from my S&M session...sorry, I mean physio. It was so painful at times I was wimpering but on the plus side, he says I should be OK to run tomorrow night. It was definitely torn as he could feel the scar tissue but he's given me some tips so hopefully, all will be well.

Wish me luck!

And cross fingers too for my friend who is doing the Piece of String Fun Run today and possibly tomorrow and the day after that and the day after that too He's going to need all the luck he can get!

cinnamongreyhound · 29/11/2013 13:04

Crazy!

Blatherskite · 29/11/2013 13:18

I'm watching the Twitter feed, it's hilarious! They got them to run the first leg and then put them all on a coach and drove them to Bath!

I've just spent £40 on compression socks to hold my calf in place while I run tomorrow which seems even more crazy!

karatekimmi · 29/11/2013 17:08

I'm a bit Sad as at the ripe old age of 33 years and 360 days I had my 3 bottles of wine taken off me at asda as I'm far too young looking!! I'm trying to look for silver linings, At least the PR won't be as painful tomorrow!!

I wear new balance 759's and I get new shoes next week for my Bday, just don't know what to get.

OhFourFiftyNineThirtyFive · 29/11/2013 22:47

Grin kimmi.

Hope the run goes well tomorrow Blathers.

Indeed, hope everyone has a good run tomorrow.

No parkrun for me, I have an OU tutorial instead.

Standingonlego · 30/11/2013 09:56

kimmi that is a massive compliment Envy

Just back from a lovely fresh sunny Parkrun. We had a minutes silence at start for one of our original ParKRunning team and a legend in one of the local clubs who has passed away, very emotional. A lovely man, kind and encouraging to everyone. Will be missed. Run Director handled it really well.

So apart from some teary eyes and snuffling at the start because of the minute silence... I really felt good today and my friend was surprised to see me just a couple of places behind her in token queue so fingers crossed for a good time! Hope the result text comes quick today!

How was your calf blathers? Did the super sexy socks help? Hope you got your 50 shirt ok - that is a 2014 target for us all i think!!!

Hope everyone had a great run (or tutorial in OhFour case) and look forward to hearing from you all later.

Standingonlego · 30/11/2013 11:22

27.42 ShockGrinGrinGrin

Nearly a minute faster than last week....and only 4 seconds away from my PB. - so happy!!!!!

cinnamongreyhound · 30/11/2013 11:24

I had that a few months ago karatekimmi but I always carry my driving license. It annoys me too but I guess it's better than the customer is CLEARLY over 25 button Grin

Today was my birthday parkrun, rd persuaded me to take cake. Luckily we only had 24 runners but they very embarrassingly sang to me! Took my littlest dog and we managed 1 min slower than my pb :)

cinnamongreyhound · 30/11/2013 11:25

Well done standingonlego and sorry to hear about your fellow parkrunner passing away :(

cinnamongreyhound · 30/11/2013 11:26

And dh bought me run fat b!tch run Grin

Standingonlego · 30/11/2013 11:32

Happy Birthday cinnamon Cake. You youngsters Grin

karatekimmi · 30/11/2013 14:26

Happy birthday cinnamon Cake if there are only 24 runners, id have a chance of being in the first 25 places!!!!

the lack of wine obviously helped as I got a PB of 31.28 1 and a half mins faster than before! My DSis had LO and I chased followed another runner who seemed to keep a good pace for me. I was really really pleased with my time!!

Yes 50 PR by the end of next year is definitely a goal for me, and hopefully an achievable one.

Hope everyone had a good one.

wem · 30/11/2013 14:43

Happy Birthday cinnamon :)

I ran the whole way for the first time! It felt good so I'm quietly hopeful of a pb, but poss made it round without stopping by running slower, so will have to see.

Blatherskite · 30/11/2013 14:45

I have my 50 shirt Grin

My run is tonight - at 7:30! It's going to be dark and muddy I think.

Knackerelli · 30/11/2013 15:05

Happy birthday cinnamon!

Was a lovely morning to run, bright blue sky and no frost. I didn't run, volunteered for the first time. I really enjoyed cheering everyone on and seeing all the people parkrun attracts, from commited pb chasers to first timers. Got very cold though; I needed my cup of tea after!

Blatherskite · 30/11/2013 15:22

Happy Birthday cinnamon

I volunteered this morning too. All I can say is that if the amount of snot and dried dribble I saw on some of our front runners was what it takes to be at the front then I am happy nearer the back thank you Wink

The first guy came in at 16 minutes something - about a minute and a half over the course record but he was flying. Making it look easy too!

wem · 30/11/2013 16:53

Yay for your 50 tshirt and Grin for snot and dribble , very attractive.

Another 20 seconds off my pb today, happy with that :-)

thenightsky · 30/11/2013 20:48

yeah... new PB today. 28 seconds off the old one! I only did it coz I met one of my old trainers from my running club days who dragged me round, telling me to 'get them knees up, breathe faster, deeper, lift your chin up, open your mouth and breathe woman... you're running like a fecking girl'!

Grin

I love that man!

Knackerelli · 30/11/2013 21:05

Ooh, can I borrow him next week thenightsky?!?!
